Draw, Write, Speak, Play: The Role of Projection in Diagnosis and Therapy of Children and Adolescents
In this chapter, I will (1) review the concept and function of projective mechanisms on a psychodynamic basis. In this section, I will outline the relation of projection to the unconscious, its use in innerpsychic dynamics, and the underlying mechanisms for its use in psychotherapy like creativity, imagination, and symbolization; (2) give an overview over the use of projective methods for testing and diagnosis in the psychological sciences; and (3) exemplify the use of projective methods in diagnostics and psychotherapy of children and adolescents. I will present current methods based on drawing, verbally describing and imaginating, and playing arts, focusing on sand play therapy and miniature figure play

Video Recommendations Based on Visual Features Extracted with Deep Learning
Postponed access: the file will be accessible after 2022-06-01When a movie is uploaded to a movie Recommender System (e.g., YouTube), the system can exploit various forms of descriptive features (e.g., tags and genre) in order to generate personalized recommendation for users. However, there are situations where the descriptive features are missing or very limited and the system may fail to include such a movie in the recommendation list, known as Cold-start problem. This thesis investigates recommendation based on a novel form of content features, extracted from movies, in order to generate recommendation for users. Such features represent the visual aspects of movies, based on Deep Learning models, and hence, do not require any human annotation when extracted. The proposed technique has been evaluated in both offline and online evaluations using a large dataset of movies. The online evaluation has been carried out in a evaluation framework developed for this thesis. Results from the offline and online evaluation (N=150) show that automatically extracted visual features can mitigate the cold-start problem by generating recommendation with a superior quality compared to different baselines, including recommendation based on human-annotated features. The results also point to subtitles as a high-quality future source of automatically extracted features. The visual feature dataset, named DeepCineProp13K and the subtitle dataset, CineSub3K, as well as the proposed evaluation framework are all made openly available online in a designated Github repository.Masteroppgave i informasjonsvitenskapINFO390MASV-INF
Educational Values in “Akeelah and the Bee” Movie
In today’s world, many of educational aspects including values in education may be transferred through literature, such as movie. There are many titles of educational movie; one of them is Akeelah and The Bee. This study focuses on describing the educational values found in its movie and how these values are incorporated with the movie. In doing this, the writer applied descriptive analysis method, in which she applied some steps; 1. Describing the important part of the story related to the educational values portrayed in the story, and 2. Analyzing the classifications of educational values inside the movie. The results of this study showed that there are some significant numbers of educational values such us honesty, confidence, potential, disciplin, love and affection, kindness and friendlines. In addition, all of the values in this movie are strongly indicated by the character’s actions in facing the problem of her life
Software diversity: state of the art and perspectives
International audienceDiversity is prevalent in modern software systems to facilitate adapting the software to customer requirements or the execution environment. Diversity has an impact on all phases of the software development process. Appropriate means and organizational structures are required to deal with the additional complexity introduced by software variability. This introductory article to the special section "Software Diversity--Modeling, Analysis and Evolution" provides an overview of the current state of the art in diverse systems development and discusses challenges and potential solutions. The article covers requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification and validation, maintenance and evolution as well as organizational aspects. It also provides an overview of the articles which are part of this special section and addresses particular issues of diverse systems development
REVIVING THE RULES, ROLES, AND RITUALS OF RESILIENCY
This descriptive case study of a historical period in education in the Commonwealth of Kentucky identifies the resiliency factors utilized by the first class to desegregate the Bowling Green, Kentucky, public school system. The participants in the study were members of the first African-American class to integrate the Bowling Green school system in 1965.
Critical Race Theory provided the tenets undergirding the research study. The qualitative research methods included conducting semi-structured interviews with participants; studying documents and artifacts from the era; having conversations with community members and educators; and collecting, archiving, and housing Bowling Green African-American education documents, artifacts, and memorabilia.
During the semi-structured interviews conducted a half century later, participants’ verbal, facial, and body expressions exemplified the pain and discomfort they experienced throughout this transition. Participants described how the use of resiliency factors learned from their families, teachers, churches, and community enabled them to analyze, interpret, navigate, compete, and graduate. Participants indicated their encounter with the historically segregated, white school system was confusing, conflicting, and in some instances, contentious. The experience was disorienting for all participants.
Participants also reported achievement gap conflicts were encountered from the first day of the desegregated school year. Their explanations of the internal and external motivational resources and resiliency factors that they employed provides historical basis for discussions of achievement gap issues today. Their description of this unprecedented historical encounter shares resemblances to present day achievement gap issues. Findings from a contemporary study on resiliency conducted by Brown (2008) suggest present day achievement gap conflicts may be cultural and psychological conflicts that can be identified, measured, and analyzed by academic indicators

Doutoramento em InformáticaAo longo do tempo os indivíduos procuraram sempre formas de preservar
o conhecimento, recordações e experiencias de vida. A busca por suportes
estáveis que possam preservar as recordações dos efeitos da passagem do
tempo leva à projeção das mesmas sobre objetos físicos. Estes objetos eventualmente
são agregados em coleções que representam partes das vidas dos
seus criadores, e que que podem ser partilhadas com outras pessoas. O uso
generalizado das tecnologias da informação, conjuntamente com a sua simplicidade
trouxe consigo uma mudança de paradigma, levando a que muitas
interações que poderiam criar objetos físicos sobre os quais seriam projetadas
recordações passassem do mundo físico para o mundo digital passando a criar
objetos digitais, sobre os quais também podem ser projetadas recordações,
tal como o que acontece com os seus equivalentes físicos. Devido a sua
natureza digital estes objetos são simples de criar, manipular, duplicar e
partilhar. Estas características colocam-nos numa posição em que podem
ser gerados facilmente, usado para transmitir conteúdo aparentemente trivial
que é depois partilhado e prontamente esquecido. No entanto, apesar destes
objetos poderem passar a incorporar memorias, a combinação do excesso de
confiança nas suas características intrínsecas e de uma atitude que convida
ao esquecimento acabam por impedir este desfecho, o que pode levar a que
no futuro os indivíduos percam o acesso a estes objetos. O trabalho desenvolvido
ao longo desta tese foca-se sobre este problema, propondo resolve-lo
com a criação de um sistema de repositórios digitais pessoas para a recolha
de informação sobre o conteúdo pessoal de cada individuo. Em vez de se
focar na recolha do conteúdo propriamente dita, um repositório digital pessoal
dá prioridade à recolha de metadados sobre o conteúdo (desde que este
não esteja em perigo iminente) de forma a no futuro poder guiar os indivíduos
de volta aos serviços na “nuvem” onde o conteúdo ainda reside no
seu contexto original. Em cenários pessoais não é viável recorrer a pessoal
especializado para proceder a recolha e seleção destes dados. Para mitigar
este problema, os dados são recolhidos o mais cedo e próximo da origem
quanto possível por agentes de recolha. Estes foram desenhados de forma a
minimizar a intrusão nas rotinas dos seus utilizadores, ao mesmo tempo que
oferecem serviços complementares que podem ser utilizados de forma independente
do repositório digital pessoal, fomentando assim a adoção do uso
destes agentes. Este trabalho também descreve uma proposta de extensão
ao modelo CIDOC/CRM, utilizado para classificar e organizar a informação
recolhida. Esta extensão foi criada devido à necessidade de dotar o modelo
de novas entidades e propriedades destinadas a lidar com objetos digitais e
cenários pessoais.Throughout time individuals have always sought forms to preserve their
knowledge, memories and life experiences. Physical objects provide a
medium upon which individuals are able to project their memories, in an
attempt that they remain in a stable support better able to cope with the
passage of time. Physical objects eventually coalesce into a collection that
comes to represent part of its owners’ lives and that can eventually be passed
on to others. Widespread use of information technologies, coupled with their
perceived ease of use has shifted many interactions that would end up producing
external memory objects from the physical to the digital realm. As
with their physical counterparts, digital objects can also be used by individuals
to project their memories. Due to their digital nature, these objects
are simple to create, produce, manipulate, duplicate and share. These traits
place them into a position where they can be generated without too much
effort to convey what might appear to be trivial content, readily shared and
forgotten afterwards. Though, through memory projection they could become
part of their creator’s legacy, overconfidence in their reproducibility and
being forgotten can prevent them from being so. This deprives their creators
from part of their lives that, in spite of appearing trivial at first, might acquire
a deeper meaning with the passage of time. The work done throughout
this thesis addresses this issue by proposing the creation of personal digital
repositories to collect information regarding personal content. Instead
of focusing on collecting the content itself, the personal digital repository
prioritises gathering metadata about the content (when not immediately at
risk) in order to lead its owner back to the “cloud” applications where the
content can still be found in its original context. In personal scenarios it is
not feasible to rely on trained personnel to help with content gathering and
organisation. To mitigate this issue, content is collected as soon as possible
by collection agents. These are designed to be as unobtrusive as possible,
also offering additional services that can be used even without the personal
digital repository in order to encourage their adoption. This creates an intertwined
ecosystem where the content collection agents feed the personal
digital repository and can in turn use previously collected content to support
their additional services. This work also describes a proposed extension to
the CIDOC/CRM model, used to classify and organise the collected information.
The extension was created due to a perceived gap in the CIDOC/CRM
model when it came to dealing with digital objects
Becoming What We Are: Virtue and Practical Wisdom as Natural Ends
This dissertation is about ethical naturalism. Philippa Foot and John McDowell both defend contemporary neo-Aristotelian ethics but each represents a rival expression of the same. They are united in the affirmation that virtue is ‘natural goodness’ for human beings. Nevertheless, they are divided in their rival conceptions of ‘nature.’ McDowell distinguishes second nature or the space of reasons from first nature or the “realm of law.” Foot rejects this division.
On Foot\u27s naturalism, natural goodness is just as much a feature of first nature as health is, even though human practical reasoning is unique in the biological world. I defend Foot’s view by appealing to “generic propositions,” a little-utilized feature of linguistic theory. Life forms and functions described in generic statements are intrinsically normative and yet just as scientifically respectable as other naturalistic concepts. Hence, the generic proposition that humans are practical, rational primates has both descriptive and normative content. It follows that the ethical and rational norms defining a good human life are a subset of natural norms which can be known as such from an “external” scientific point of view as well as from an “internal” ethical point of view.
Going beyond Foot’s views, I present a new interlocking neo-Aristotelian account of virtue and practical reason. Virtues are excellences of practical reasoning and rational practice. Virtues enable and partly constitute a good life for human beings. Practical reasoning is the ability to pursue perceived goods and avoid perceived evils in every action. Practical wisdom, which is excellence in practical reasoning, is the master virtue that enables one to succeed in becoming truly human, despite varying abilities and life circumstances. In short, all of us ought to pursue virtue and practical wisdom because of who and what we are; virtue and practical wisdom are natural ends.
I aim to secure the naturalistic credentials of my view by examining three influential conceptions of ‘nature,’ criticizing McDowell\u27s conception and showing how my view is consistent with the remaining two. The resulting view is called \u27recursive naturalism\u27 because nature recurs within nature when natural beings reason about nature, about themselves, and about their own reasoning

L’objectiu de la present tesis es identificar les formes d’entrada de l’empresa espanyola a la Xina, les barreres que hi
troben, així com els factors determinants de l’èxit de la seva inversió a l’exterior. S’utilitza una metodologia mixta
d’anàlisi i mètodes de recollida de dades. Per un costat es realitzen entrevistes en profunditat amb directius
d’empreses espanyoles amb inversió directa a la Xina y amb els assessors de les mateixes. I per l’altre, es du a terme
un estudi quantitatiu relatiu a l’equip d’alta direcció a través de qüestionaris. Com a resultats principals trobem que a
l’actualitat la filial es la principal forma d’entrada al país asiàtic és mitjançant una filial i que les barreres
més importants que han d'afrontar són burocràtiques, culturals i relacionades amb els recursos humans. Quant als
factors d'èxit, trobem en l'equip directiu una de les claus del procés
d'internacionalització.El objetivo de la presente tesis es identificar las formas de entrada de la empresa española en China, las barreras que
encuentran, así como los factores determinantes del éxito de su inversión en el exterior. Se utiliza una metodología
mixta de análisis y métodos de recogida de datos. Por un lado se realizan entrevistas en profundidad con directivos de
empresas españolas con inversión directa en China y con los asesores de éstas. Y por el otro se lleva a cabo un
estudio cuantitativo relativo al equipo de alta dirección a través de cuestionarios. Como principales resultados
encontramos que actualmente la principal forma de entrada en el país asiático es mediante una filial y que las barreras
más importantes que tienen que afrontar son burocráticas, culturales y relacionadas con los recursos humanos. En
cuanto a los factores de éxito, encontramos en el equipo directivo una de las claves del proceso de
internacionalización.The aim of the present thesis was to identify the entry modes and barriers faced by Spanish companies in China, as
well as their key investment success factors. To do so, data were collected by conducting interviews with the managers
of Spanish companies that had direct investment in China and with their external advisors, as well as through
questionnaires distributed among their top managers. This mixed methodology confirmed that a Wholly Foreign-Owned
Enterprise was currently the main entry mode in China and the most important barriers faced were bureaucratic,
cultural and related to human resources. When the success factors were considered, the top management team was
shown to be a key element of the internationalisation process
