Optimal Fuzzy Model Construction with Statistical Information using Genetic Algorithm
Fuzzy rule based models have a capability to approximate any continuous
function to any degree of accuracy on a compact domain. The majority of FLC
design process relies on heuristic knowledge of experience operators. In order
to make the design process automatic we present a genetic approach to learn
fuzzy rules as well as membership function parameters. Moreover, several
statistical information criteria such as the Akaike information criterion
(AIC), the Bhansali-Downham information criterion (BDIC), and the
Schwarz-Rissanen information criterion (SRIC) are used to construct optimal
fuzzy models by reducing fuzzy rules. A genetic scheme is used to design
Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) model for identification of the antecedent rule
parameters and the identification of the consequent parameters. Computer
simulations are presented confirming the performance of the constructed fuzzy
logic controller
A new fuzzy set merging technique using inclusion-based fuzzy clustering
This paper proposes a new method of merging parameterized fuzzy sets based on clustering in the parameters space, taking into account the degree of inclusion of each fuzzy set in the cluster prototypes. The merger method is applied to fuzzy rule base simplification by automatically replacing the fuzzy sets corresponding to a given cluster with that pertaining to cluster prototype. The feasibility and the performance of the proposed method are studied using an application in mobile robot navigation. The results indicate that the proposed merging and rule base simplification approach leads to good navigation performance in the application considered and to fuzzy models that are interpretable by experts. In this paper, we concentrate mainly on fuzzy systems with Gaussian membership functions, but the general approach can also be applied to other parameterized fuzzy sets

Intelligent manipulation technique for multi-branch robotic systems
New analytical development in kinematics planning is reported. The INtelligent KInematics Planner (INKIP) consists of the kinematics spline theory and the adaptive logic annealing process. Also, a novel framework of robot learning mechanism is introduced. The FUzzy LOgic Self Organized Neural Networks (FULOSONN) integrates fuzzy logic in commands, control, searching, and reasoning, the embedded expert system for nominal robotics knowledge implementation, and the self organized neural networks for the dynamic knowledge evolutionary process. Progress on the mechanical construction of SRA Advanced Robotic System (SRAARS) and the real time robot vision system is also reported. A decision was made to incorporate the Local Area Network (LAN) technology in the overall communication system
Quantum Robot: Structure, Algorithms and Applications
A kind of brand-new robot, quantum robot, is proposed through fusing quantum
theory with robot technology. Quantum robot is essentially a complex quantum
system and it is generally composed of three fundamental parts: MQCU (multi
quantum computing units), quantum controller/actuator, and information
acquisition units. Corresponding to the system structure, several learning
control algorithms including quantum searching algorithm and quantum
reinforcement learning are presented for quantum robot. The theoretic results
show that quantum robot can reduce the complexity of O(N^2) in traditional
robot to O(N^(3/2)) using quantum searching algorithm, and the simulation
results demonstrate that quantum robot is also superior to traditional robot in
efficient learning by novel quantum reinforcement learning algorithm.
Considering the advantages of quantum robot, its some potential important
applications are also analyzed and prospected.Comment: 19 pages, 4 figures, 2 table
Evolutionary Learning of Fuzzy Rules for Regression
The objective of this PhD Thesis is to design Genetic Fuzzy Systems (GFS) that learn Fuzzy Rule Based Systems to solve regression problems in a general manner. Particularly, the aim is to obtain models with low complexity while maintaining high precision without using expert-knowledge about the problem to be solved. This means that the GFSs have to work with raw data, that is, without any preprocessing that help the learning process to solve a particular problem. This is of particular interest, when no knowledge about the input data is available or for a first approximation to the problem. Moreover, within this objective, GFSs have to cope with large scale problems, thus the algorithms have to scale with the data
Goal-seeking Behavior-based Mobile Robot Using Particle Swarm Fuzzy Controller
Behavior-based control architecture has successfully demonstrated their competence in mobile robot development. Fuzzy logic system characteristics are suitable to address the behavior design problems. However, there are difficulties encountered when setting fuzzy parameters manually. Therefore, most of the works in the field generate certain interest for the study of fuzzy systems with added learning capabilities. This paper presents the development of fuzzy behavior-based control architecture using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). A goal-seeking behaviors based on Particle Swarm Fuzzy Controller (PSFC) are developed using the modified PSO with two stages of the PSFC process. Several simulations and experiments with MagellanPro mobile robot have been performed to analyze the performance of the algorithm. The promising results have proved that the proposed control architecture for mobile robot has better capability to accomplish useful task in real office-like environment
Intelligent Robotics Navigation System: Problems, Methods, and Algorithm
This paper set out to supplement new studies with a brief and comprehensible review of the advanced development in the area of the navigation system, starting from a single robot, multi-robot, and swarm robots from a particular perspective by taking insights from these biological systems. The inspiration is taken from nature by observing the human and the social animal that is believed to be very beneficial for this purpose. The intelligent navigation system is developed based on an individual characteristic or a social animal biological structure. The discussion of this paper will focus on how simple agent’s structure utilizes flexible and potential outcomes in order to navigate in a productive and unorganized surrounding. The combination of the navigation system and biologically inspired approach has attracted considerable attention, which makes it an important research area in the intelligent robotic system. Overall, this paper explores the implementation, which is resulted from the simulation performed by the embodiment of robots operating in real environments
