    O turismo acessível atende ao desenvolvimento de atividades turísticas por todas as pessoas, e considera as necessidades das que têm mobilidade reduzida. Acontece que no ambiente urbano e turístico há um conjunto de barreiras físicas que dificultam a mobilidade dos turistas com trolleys, dos pais com carrinhos de bebé e das pessoas com deficiência. Neste contexto, surgiu o conceito de “design universal” que assegura os direitos de acessibilidade a todos, incluindo as pessoas com necessidades especiais. De acordo com o Conceito Europeu de Acessibilidade "a acessibilidade é a característica de um meio físico ou de um objeto que permite a interação de todas as pessoas com esse meio físico ou objeto e a utilização destes de uma forma equilibrada, respeitadora e segura” (Aragall & EuCAN members, 2003). Assim, o desenho universal deve ser atendido em todas as intervenções no meio físico, para a criação de cidades acessíveis a qualquer pessoa, proporcionando a toda população residente e aos turistas o direito de usufruir e desfrutar do ambiente, de uma forma equitativa. The design was tested on a developing kit EMX produced by GHI Electronics. At the beginning a problematic of .NET Micro Framework is introduced to a reader. After that architecture of project and mechanism of controlling device are described.

    Balancing design theories and individual needs in residential modifications for people living with ALS

    This research and design project examines the philosophies and psychological factors of aging in place and universal design, as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG), and how they can be realistically applied in interior design for people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a terminal illness with an approximate two- to five-year prognosis. The case study explores the design needs and preferences of one couple living with ALS. Analysis of the case study suggests that a complete universal design or ADAAG-compliant overhaul in the home is ill-advised for these subjects, given their modest budget and limited time for a person with ALS to implement and utilize extensive home modifications. The findings suggest prioritizing modifications to provide function and accessibility in key areas of the home, meeting the subjects\u27 preference for design that doesn\u27t look institutional, maintaining or improving the home\u27s real estate value, and considering possible future needs of the surviving spouse as s/he ages. In the first version of the design, universal design principles and accessibility guidelines are prioritized and strategically applied to maximize autonomy, engagement, and quality of life for the subject living with ALS and the spouse in the role of caregiver. In the second version of the design, universal design principles are applied throughout the home and landscape in a project of larger scope and budget, which would be appropriate for a person who will live in the home long-term

    This article explores school inclusion processes, with a view to problematizing the learning hegemonies of time and space in educational institutions. It presents partial results of the research project; 'A Escola Para Todos' (The School for All) and responds to the question: How can Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which is somewhat similar to the 'pedagogy of the seasons,' qualify inclusive experiences in schools? By providing an integrative review of the salient features of UDL and pedagogy of the seasons, the paper questions the hegemony of time-space teaching and learning in schools by drawing on narrative theory. Methodologically, this part of the research provides an integrated reflection on critical conceptual attributes incorporating; UDL, the temporalities and spatialities of learning, and concepts of inclusive education. The results of this stage of the research show that it is necessary to overcome the hegemony of time and linear space in learning and teaching processes in order to arrive at school inclusion. Despite similarities between UDL and 'pedagogy of the seasons' tensions remain between these approaches. Not least as reflected in the overcoming of paradoxes such as the necessity to address universal requirements while also tending to particular learner requirements, or equally, while recognizing the variability of strategies without losing sight of more global pedagogical approaches. This challenge is accentuated when the UDL concept of 'expert learners' is further interrogated

The aim of universal design is to develop theory, principles and solutions to enable everybody to use the same physical solutions to the greatest extent possible, whether it be buildings, outdoor-areas, means of communication or household goods. Universal design opposes, ideologically and politically, all unnecessary and stigmatizing specialized solutions, whether they are intended for people with disabilities or other groups of the population. Equal status, equal treatment and equal merit are key concepts. The discussion in this report covers extensive spheres such as planning, architecture and product design. One may object that we try to cover too large an area within a relatively brief report.
