Purpose: The paper aims at proposing a framework of hybrid spatial-fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making and demonstrating application of the framework to evaluate and select the appropriate location for Urban Distribution Center in Yogyakarta Special Region Province, Indonesia. The study has been inspired by the need to evaluate the Urban Distribution Center initiative, i.e., Jogja Inland Port by local government that has been hampered due to lack of participating companies. Design/methodology/approach: The proposed framework consists of two steps of analysis. First, spatial analysis to generate alternative locations using weighted Geographical Information System data; second, fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making to select the best location. Fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution was applied to deal with multi-criteria, multiple stakeholders, and uncertainty. Accessibility, security, connectivity of multi-modal transport, costs, environmental impact, proximity to customers, proximity to suppliers, resource availability, expansion possibility, service quality, are taken as the decision criteria. Local government of Yogyakarta province, practitioners, and logistic expert, are involved as representative participants in evaluating the Urban Distribution Center location of Yogyakarta Special Region Province. Findings: The proposed framework has indicated that the Jogja Inland Port is not the best alternative. A joint warehouse managed by a group of private companies located in Berbah (Sleman district) appears to be the best alternative location for Urban Distribution Center. Consistent results are also found by using other approaches (Intuitionistic Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution and Set Pair Analysis). Research limitations/implications: In addition to the government, expert, and practitioners that involved in this study, future research could engage local residents as decision makers to refine the results, as various stakeholders may come up with different preferences. Practical implications: From a practical point of view, the application of combined approach (integrating spatial analysis using weighted Geographical Information System data and fuzzy multi-criteria decision making) is a promising approach in dealing with Urban Distribution Center location problem which is characterized by multi-criteria, multiple stakeholders, spatial-related issues, and uncertainty. Social implications: The unsuccessful establishment of Jogja Inland Port implies that Urban Distribution Center location problem is a complex system, involving multifaceted factors that should be considered simultaneously. Originality/value: The research proposes a framework to evaluate and select the appropriate location for Urban Distribution Center through combined approach of weighted Geographical Information System data and fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making which involves relevant stakeholders.Peer Reviewe

Novel possibility spherical fuzzy soft set model and its application for a decision making

    Get PDF
We talk about possibility spherical fuzzy soft set (shortly PSFS set) has much stronger ability than possibility Pythagorean fuzzy soft set (shortly PPFS set) and intuitionistic fuzzy soft set. The PSFS soft set is a generalization of PPFS set and soft set. Here we talk through some operations consisting of complement, union, intersection, AND and OR. We verify that the De Morgan’s laws, associate laws and distributive laws are satisfied in the case of PSFS sets. Also we discuss comparative analysis for the soft set model under the scheme of PSFS sets. Finally, an illustrative example is mentioned for the soft set model using PSFS set.Publisher's Versio

Constant single valued neutrosophic graphs with applications

    Get PDF
In this paper, we introduced a new concept of single valued neutrosophic graph (SVNG) known as constant single valued neutrosophic graph (CSVNG). Basically, SVNG is a generalization of intuitionistic fuzzy graph (IFG). More specifically, we described and explored somegraph theoretic ideas related to the introduced concepts of CSVNG. An application of CSVNG in a Wi-Fi network system is discussed and a comparison of CSVNG with constant IFG is established showing the worth of the proposed work. Further, several terms like constant function and totally constant function are investigated in the frame-work of CSVNG and their characteristics are studied

The objective of this work is to introduce the concept of the possibility linguistic single-valued neutrosophic set (PLSVNS) for better dealing with the imprecise and uncertain information during the decision-making process. The prominent characteristics of this set are that it considers two distinctive sorts of information such as the membership, indeterminacy, non-membership degrees, and their corresponding possibility degree. In it, first, we stated some operational laws, score and accuracy functions, comparison laws between the pairs of the set. Then, we define weighted averaging and geometric aggregation operators (AOs) to collaborate the PLSVNSs into a single one. Further, we present two algorithms based on a complex proportional assessment (COPRAS) method and AOs based method under PLSVNS information to solve the decision-making problems. In these methods, the information related to weights of decision makers and criteria is determined with the help of a distance and entropy measures. Finally, a practical real-life example is provided to expose the materialness and the viability of our work

Strengthening the evaluation of teaching satisfaction plays a crucial role in guiding teachers to improve their teaching quality and competence, as well as in aiding educational institutions in the formulation of effective teaching reforms and plans. The evaluation process for teaching satisfaction is usually regarded as a typical multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) process, which inherently possesses uncertainty and fuzziness due to the subjective nature of human cognition. In order to improve the subtle discrimination of evaluation information data and enhance the accuracy of the evaluation results, we have developed an integrated MADM method by combining a new distance measure and an improved TOPSIS method for interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IvIFSs). First, a novel distance measure for IvIFSs based on triangular divergence is proposed to capture the differences between two IvIFSs, and some properties of this distance measure are investigated. Then, the superiority of this new distance measure is compared with some existing distance measures. Afterward, an improved TOPSIS method is also established based on the proposed triangular distance under the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy setting. Besides, to illustrate the practicality of the new method, a numerical example is presentedto evaluate mathematics teaching satisfaction. Moreover, a comparative analysis that includes existing TOPSIS methods, is presented to demonstrate the superiority of the given method. The comparison outcomes show that the proposed technique can effectively discern uncertainties or subtle differences in IvIFSs, resulting in more accurate and comprehensive evaluation results for teaching satisfaction. Overall, the findings of this study emphasize the importance of incorporating the new distance measure in MADM. The proposed approach serves as a valuable tool for decision-makers to compare and evaluate alternatives effectively
