Étude contrastive du système des pronoms en français et en roumain (du point de vue du système linguistique et du point de vue socioculturel)

    Get PDF
With regard to the use of pronouns Romanian shares a number of features with other Romance languages in opposition to French and English, due to the linguistic system: the pronouns are not obligatory because of the morphological markedness o f the verbal forms. For reasons linked to the socio-cultural system however the use of pronouns is far more differentiated in Romanian than in any other Romance or Anglo- Saxon language

    John Keats at Winchester

Nicholas Roe reflects on why Keats came to Winchester, and what he wrote while staying there. His chapter explores the range of meanings that Winchester’s founding father King Alfred took on for Keats, bringing new pressure to bear on the poem most closely associated with the market city: ‘To Autumn’. Roe’s concern is to place the ode in relation both to Winchester’s historical associations and to its great presider, King Alfred. In fascinating detail, Roe’s sensitively attuned reading allows us to see how the ode’s language and imagery are closely related to Alfred’s Anglo-Saxon language and liberties, in often surprising ways.Postprin

George Hickes and the Dano-Saxon poetic dialect : a translation edition of a section of Caput XXI, from the Anglo-Saxon Grammar of Linguarum vett. septentrionalium thesaurus

    Get PDF
In 1705 George Hickes published his book Linguarum vett. Septentrionalium Thesaurus (A Treasury of Ancient Northern Tongues) which contained, among other things, an Anglo-Saxon Grammar. In the final six chapters of this grammar, Hickes includes a history of the Anglo-Saxon language. It is the first recorded history of the English language; however, it is written in Latin, and so unavailable to many English speakers. Therefore, I have produced a sample translation of the third of the six chapters for this thesis (chapter 21, or “Caput XXI”), entitled “De dialecto poetica, praesertim de dialecto poetica Dano-Saxonica” (“On the poetic dialect, especially the Dano-Saxon poetic dialect”), marking the first stage in making these chapters available to English speakers today

    Get PDF
This library research aims to (1) identify effects of various colonialism on the change of morphological aspects of English Language and (2) explore the morphological change of verb and noun. Those two aims will give the readers a perspective of how language changes through the time. This is a library research which is conducted by collecting and processing data of various lexicons from a book entitled ‘A History of English Language’. The data processing is entirely based on some rules in a book entitled ‘Sejarah Bahasa Inggris’ written by Tarjana (1991). From the data processing, it is revealed that various colonizers ‘demand’ a language change, especially morphological aspect, in order a language understanding between colonizers and the colony will grow. Besides, morphological change will give us a clear description about natural characteristics that a language will always experience a change to accomodate the need of communicating effectively and efficiently

Treballs Finals de Grau de Llengües i Literatures Modernes. Facultat de Filologia. Universitat de Barcelona, Curs: 2017-2018, Tutor: Rosanna Rion Tetas[eng] Despite the advances that have taken place in the last decades in the methodology used to teach languages, the origin of the student is rarely taken into account. Through some internal and external studies, we have the certainty that the Spanish are well below the average in learning foreign languages. This shortage is something disturbing since globalisation has made spectacular advances in recent years and these improvements reduce the distances between countries. Nowadays, job opportunities are endless, but to take full advantage of it, we must keep up with regarding communication. From this study, the specific needs to assimilate the English language by the Spanish speakers are analysed. The study also points out some of the deficiencies during the learning of the Anglo-Saxon language in the curriculum.

Mark vs. Brand - Term and Controversies

    Get PDF
Starting from the new marketing paradigm, putting the buyer, and therefore his understanding of the products and services that meet his daily needs at the center of marketing actions, attracts more and more attention. Having in mind the latest advertising drive of “Coca-Cola” one can say that, so far, they have been engaged in the sale of “Coca-Cola”, and now sell Coca Cola "side of life." The work compares two terms mark and brand, and provides the most common meanings of these terms, starting from the differences in the concepts of trade mark and brand. The universal anglicanization not only in the language of marketing, but also in other languages, the term brand is more and more being used synonymously to the term mark, which we can not agree with. Customers and consumers create a special relationship to the mark. There are different models of the evolution of the concept of branding. Corporate brand as a concept implies a coordinated portfolio of marks. The practice of marketing is based on product quality, development of trademarks and a creation of a brand. Contemporary practice of marketing starts with the creation of brands which are given characteristics of trademarks and products. Brand, in general, expresses a mission and values that the company nurtures, and must be incorporated in the vision of the company. Starting point for building a brand is a belief that must realistically indicate the value related to the client. This belief is particularly important in the process of communicating the brand, both with external and with internal factors.brand, mark, trademark, brand equity, product
