    A Self-adaptive Multipeak Artificial Immune Genetic Algorithm

    Genetic algorithm is a global probability search algorithm developed by simulating the biological natural selection and genetic evolution mechanism and it has excellent global search ability, however, in practical applications, premature convergence occurs easily in the genetic algorithm. This paper proposes an self-adaptive multi-peak immune genetic algorithm (SMIGA) and this algorithm integrates immunity thought in the biology immune system into the evolutionary process of genetic algorithm, uses self-adaptive dynamic vaccination and provides a downtime criterion, the selection strategy of immune vaccine and the construction method of immune operators so as to promote the population develop towards the optimization trend and suppress the degeneracy phenomenon in the optimization by using the feature information in a selective and purposive manner. The simulation experiment shows that the method of this paper can better solve the optimization problem of multi-peak functions, realize global optimum search, overcome the prematurity problem of the antibody population and improve the effectiveness and robustness of optimization

    A Novel Hybrid Moth Flame Optimization with Sequential Quadratic Programming Algorithm for Solving Economic Load Dispatch Problem

    The insufficiency of energy resources, increased cost of generation and rising load demand necessitate optimized economic dispatch. The real world ED (Economic Dispatch) is highly non-convex, nonlinear and discontinuous problem with different equality and inequality constraints. In this research paper, a novel hybrid MFO-SQP (Moth Flame Optimization with Sequential Quadratic Programming) is proposed to solve the ED problem. The MFO is stochastic searching algorithm minimizes by random search and SQP is definite in nature that refines the local search in vicinity of local minima. Proposed technique has been implemented on 6, 15 and 40 units test system with different constraints like valve point loading effect, transmission loss, prohibited zones, generator capacity limits and power balance. Results, obtained from proposed technique are compared with those of the techniques reported in the literature, are proven better in terms of fuel cost and convergence

    Chaos Firefly Algorithm With Self-Adaptation Mutation Mechanism for Solving Large-Scale Economic Dispatch With Valve-Point Effects and Multiple Fuel Options

    This paper presents a new metaheuristic optimization algorithm, the firefly algorithm (FA), and an enhanced version of it, called chaos mutation FA (CMFA), for solving power economic dispatch problems while considering various power constraints, such as valve-point effects, ramp rate limits, prohibited operating zones, and multiple generator fuel options. The algorithm is enhanced by adding a new mutation strategy using self-adaptation parameter selection while replacing the parameters with fixed values. The proposed algorithm is also enhanced by a self-adaptation mechanism that avoids challenges associated with tuning the algorithm parameters directed against characteristics of the optimization problem to be solved. The effectiveness of the CMFA method to solve economic dispatch problems with high nonlinearities is demonstrated using five classic test power systems. The solutions obtained are compared with the results of the original algorithm and several methods of optimization proposed in the previous literature. The high performance of the CMFA algorithm is demonstrated by its ability to achieve search solution quality and reliability, which reflected in minimum total cost, convergence speed, and consistency

    An Immune Algorithm with Power Redistribution for Solving Economic Dispatch Problems

    In this paper, we present an algorithm inspired on the T-Cell model of the immune system (i.e., an artificial immune system), which is used to solve economic dispatch problems. The proposed approach is called IA_EDP, which stands for Immune Algorithm for Economic Dispatch Problem, and it uses two versions of a redistribution power operator which tries to keep feasible the solutions that it finds. The proposed approach is validated using eight problems taken from the specialized literature. Our results are compared with respect to those obtained by several other approaches.
