The paper discusses the possible impact of digital space on a human, as well as human-related directions in cyber-security analysis in the education: levels of cyber-security, social engineering role in cyber-security of education, “cognitive vaccination”. “A Human” is considered in general meaning, mainly as a learner. The analysis is provided on the basis of experience of hybrid war in Ukraine that have demonstrated the change of the target of military operations from military personnel and critical infrastructure to a human in general. Young people are the vulnerable group that can be the main goal of cognitive operations in long-term perspective, and they are the weakest link of the System.

For classical domains, such as movies, recommender systems have proven their usefulness. But recommending news is more challenging due to the short life span of news content and the demand for up-to-date recommendations. This paper presents a news recommendation service with a content-based algorithm that uses features of a search engine for content processing and indexing, and a collaborative filtering algorithm for serendipity. The extension towards a context-aware algorithm is made to assess the information value of context in a mobile environment through a user study. Analyzing interaction behavior and feedback of users on three recommendation approaches shows that interaction with the content is crucial input for user modeling. Context-aware recommendations using time and device type as context data outperform traditional recommendations with an accuracy gain dependent on the contextual situation. These findings demonstrate that the user experience of news services can be improved by a personalized context-aware news offer

The cultural heritage of the italian territory is an impressive breadth of resources, unfortunately still little known today. Such a cultural heritage should be valued for the purpose is to better understand the Italian citizens their cultural identity, is to make known to the citizens of other nations the history of the place, with its story and its characters, and the life of the inhabitants, with their own traditions and customs. \ \ In this paper, it is introduced an adaptive Context-Aware app able to collect not-structured data, belonging to heterogeneous sources and develop tailored recommendations for the user, in order to support a tourist inside a town. The solution found takes advantage of information technologies, like Internet of Thing and Internet of Services and the objective is reached through the use of a system of description of the context through a graphical formalism named Context Dimension Tree. \ \ The system described was implemented in the city of Salerno in Italy and the results of a questionnaire distributed to the users show great appreciation

A mobile tour guide app for sustainable tourism

Portugal has had a flourishing tourism sector for the past few years. In fact, Portugal’s tourism boom has made the industry one of the biggest contributors to the national economy and the largest employer. In the year 2019, Portugal had a total of 27 million tourists, surpassing once again the record established in the previous year. However, tourism also brings a series of unintended negative side effects, such as overcrowding. The Santa Maria Maior historic district in Lisbon is being particularly affected by this problem. The work undertaken in this dissertation is part of the Sustainable Tourism Crowding project, that aims to mitigate the overcrowding phenomenon in this district, by fostering a balanced distribution of visitors while promoting the visitation of sustainable points of interest. This dissertation focuses on developing a mobile app prototype targeted at tourists, through which these sustainable walking tour recommendations can be delivered. To validate the functional requirements of the prototype, more specifically the trip creation process, a series of unit tests, integration tests, and manual tests were developed. To evaluate the usability of the prototype, a user-centered approach was adopted during the design stage, in which two usability techniques were conducted with members of ISCTE’s research center ISTAR and partners from the Junta de Freguesia de Santa Maria Maior, that guided and validated the decisions made. The achieved prototype contains mechanisms for measuring tourists’ adherence to the recommended tours using the Dynamic Time Warping algorithm, which raises new research opportunities on tourists’ behaviour.O desenvolvimento próspero do setor turístico em Portugal nos últimos anos fez da indústria um dos maiores contribuintes para a economia nacional e o maior empregador do país.

A multiple criteria route recommendation system

The work to be developed in this dissertation is part of a larger project called Sustainable Tourism Crowding (STC), which motivation is based on two negative impacts caused by the tourism overload that happens, particularly, in the historic neighborhoods of Lisbon. The goal of this dissertation is then to mitigate those problems: reduce the tourist burden of points of interest in a city that, in addition to the degradation of the tourist experience, causes sustainability problems in different aspects (environmental, social and local). Within the scope of this dissertation, the implementation of one component of a recommendation system is the proposed solution. It is based on a multi-criteria algorithm for recommending pedestrian routes that minimize the passage through more crowded places and maximizes the visit to sustainable points of interest. These routes will be personalized for each user, as they consider their explicit preferences (e.g. time, budget, physical effort) and several constraints taken from other microservices that are part of the global system architecture mentioned above (e.g. weather conditions, crowding levels, points of interest, sustainability). We conclude it is possible to develop a microservice that recommend personalized routes and communicate with other microservices that are part of the global system architecture mentioned above. The analysis of the experimental data from the recommendation system, allows us to conclude that it is possible to obtain a more balanced distribution of the tourist visit, by increasing the visit to more sustainable places of interest and avoiding crowded paths.O trabalho a desenvolver nesta dissertação insere-se num projeto de maior dimensão denominado Sustainable Tourism Crowding (STC), cuja motivação assenta, essencialmente, em dois impactos negativos provocados pela sobrecarga turística que se verifica, nomeadamente, nos bairros históricos de Lisboa.
