Detection of Lying Electrical Vehicles in Charging Coordination Application Using Deep Learning
The simultaneous charging of many electric vehicles (EVs) stresses the
distribution system and may cause grid instability in severe cases. The best
way to avoid this problem is by charging coordination. The idea is that the EVs
should report data (such as state-of-charge (SoC) of the battery) to run a
mechanism to prioritize the charging requests and select the EVs that should
charge during this time slot and defer other requests to future time slots.
However, EVs may lie and send false data to receive high charging priority
illegally. In this paper, we first study this attack to evaluate the gains of
the lying EVs and how their behavior impacts the honest EVs and the performance
of charging coordination mechanism. Our evaluations indicate that lying EVs
have a greater chance to get charged comparing to honest EVs and they degrade
the performance of the charging coordination mechanism. Then, an anomaly based
detector that is using deep neural networks (DNN) is devised to identify the
lying EVs. To do that, we first create an honest dataset for charging
coordination application using real driving traces and information revealed by
EV manufacturers, and then we also propose a number of attacks to create
malicious data. We trained and evaluated two models, which are the multi-layer
perceptron (MLP) and the gated recurrent unit (GRU) using this dataset and the
GRU detector gives better results. Our evaluations indicate that our detector
can detect lying EVs with high accuracy and low false positive rate
Seagull Optimization-based Feature Selection with Optimal Extreme Learning Machine for Intrusion Detection in Fog Assisted WSN
On the internet, various devices that are connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) share the resources that they have in accordance with their respective needs. The information gathered from these Internet of Things devices was preserved in the cloud. The problem of latency is made significantly worse by the proliferation of Internet of Things devices and the accessing of real-time data. In order to solve this issue, the fog layer, which was previously an adjunct layer between the cloud layer and the user, is now being utilised. As the data could be retrieved from the fog layer even if it was close to the edge of the network, it made the experience more convenient for the user. The lack of security in the fog layer is going to be an issue. The simple access to sources provided by the fog layer architecture makes it vulnerable to a great number of assaults. Consequently, the purpose of this work is to build a seagull optimization-based feature selection approach with optimum extreme learning machine (SGOFS-OELM) for the purpose of intrusion detection in a fog-enabled WSN. The identification of intrusions in the fog-enabled WSN is the primary focus of the SGOFS-OELM approach that has been presented here. The given SGOFS-OELM strategy is designed to accomplish this goal by designing the SGOFS approach to choose the best possible subset of attributes. In this work, the ELM classification model is applied for the purpose of intrusion detection. In conclusion, the political optimizer (PO) is utilised in order to accomplish automatic parameter adjustment of the ELM technique, which ultimately leads to enhanced classification performance. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the SGOFS-OELM approach, a number of simulations were carried out. As compared to the other benchmark models that were employed for this research, the suggested SGOFS-OELM models give the best accuracy, which is 99.97 percent. The simulation research demonstrates that the SGOFS-OELM approach has the potential to deliver a good performance in the intrusion detection process
Performance Evaluation of Network Anomaly Detection Systems
Nowadays, there is a huge and growing concern about security in information and communication
technology (ICT) among the scientific community because any attack or anomaly in
the network can greatly affect many domains such as national security, private data storage,
social welfare, economic issues, and so on. Therefore, the anomaly detection domain is a broad
research area, and many different techniques and approaches for this purpose have emerged
through the years.
Attacks, problems, and internal failures when not detected early may badly harm an
entire Network system. Thus, this thesis presents an autonomous profile-based anomaly detection
system based on the statistical method Principal Component Analysis (PCADS-AD). This
approach creates a network profile called Digital Signature of Network Segment using Flow Analysis
(DSNSF) that denotes the predicted normal behavior of a network traffic activity through
historical data analysis. That digital signature is used as a threshold for volume anomaly detection
to detect disparities in the normal traffic trend. The proposed system uses seven traffic flow
attributes: Bits, Packets and Number of Flows to detect problems, and Source and Destination IP
addresses and Ports, to provides the network administrator necessary information to solve them.
Via evaluation techniques, addition of a different anomaly detection approach, and
comparisons to other methods performed in this thesis using real network traffic data, results
showed good traffic prediction by the DSNSF and encouraging false alarm generation and detection
accuracy on the detection schema.
The observed results seek to contribute to the advance of the state of the art in methods
and strategies for anomaly detection that aim to surpass some challenges that emerge from
the constant growth in complexity, speed and size of today’s large scale networks, also providing
high-value results for a better detection in real time.
performance. Ainda, a baixa complexidade e agilidade do sistema proposto contribuem para
que possa ser aplicado a deteção em tempo real
A Study on Intrusion Detection System in Wireless Sensor Networks
The technology of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) has become most significant in present day. WSNs are extensively used in applications like military, industry, health, smart homes and smart cities. All the applications of WSN require secure communication between the sensor nodes and the base station. Adversary compromises at the sensor nodes to introduce different attacks into WSN. Hence, suitable Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is essential in WSN to defend against the security attack. IDS approaches for WSN are classified based on the mechanism used to detect the attacks. In this paper, we present the taxonomy of security attacks, different IDS mechanisms for detecting attacks and performance metrics used to assess the IDS algorithm for WSNs. Future research directions on IDS in WSN are also discussed
Secure and reliable wireless advertising system using intellectual characteristic selection algorithm for smart cities
Smart cities wireless advertising (smart mobile-AD) filed is one of the well-known area of research where smart devices using mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) platform for advertisement and marketing purposes. Wireless advertising through multiple fusion internet of things (IoT) sensors is one of the important field where the sensors combines multiple sensors information and accomplish the control of self-governing intelligent machines for smart cities advertising framework. With many advantages, this field has suffered with data security. In order to tackle security threats, intrusion detection system (IDS) is adopted. However, the existing IDS system are not able to fulfill the security requirements. This paper proposes an intellectual characteristic selection algorithm (ICSA) integrated with normalized intelligent genetic algorithm-based min-max feature selection (NIGA-MFS). The proposed solution designs for wireless advertising system for business/advertising data security and other transactions using independent reconfigurable architecture. This approach supports the wireless advertising portals to manage the data delivery by using 4G standard. The proposed reconfigurable architecture is validated by using applications specific to microcontrollers with multiple fusion IoT sensors

complex heterogeneous nature of the network structures and wireless services.
Machine learning (ML) algorithms have great success in supporting big data
analytics, efficient parameter estimation and interactive decision making.
Hence, in this article, we review the thirty-year history of ML by elaborating
on supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning and deep
learning. Furthermore, we investigate their employment in the compelling
applications of wireless networks, including heterogeneous networks (HetNets),
cognitive radios (CR), Internet of things (IoT), machine to machine networks
(M2M), and so on. This article aims for assisting the readers in clarifying the
motivation and methodology of the various ML algorithms, so as to invoke them

An Evolutionary Algorithm to Generate Ellipsoid Detectors for Negative Selection
Negative selection is a process from the biological immune system that can be applied to two-class (self and nonself) classification problems. Negative selection uses only one class (self) for training, which results in detectors for the other class (nonself). This paradigm is especially useful for problems in which only one class is available for training, such as network intrusion detection. Previous work has investigated hyper-rectangles and hyper-spheres as geometric detectors. This work proposes ellipsoids as geometric detectors. First, the author establishes a mathematical model for ellipsoids. He develops an algorithm to generate ellipsoids by training on only one class of data. Ellipsoid mutation operators, an objective function, and a convergence technique are described for the evolutionary algorithm that generates ellipsoid detectors. Testing on several data sets validates this approach by showing that the algorithm generates good ellipsoid detectors. Against artificial data sets, the detectors generated by the algorithm match more than 90% of nonself data with no false alarms. Against a subset of data from the 1999 DARPA MIT intrusion detection data, the ellipsoids generated by the algorithm detected approximately 98% of nonself (intrusions) with an approximate 0% false alarm rate
Machine Learning in Wireless Sensor Networks: Algorithms, Strategies, and Applications
Wireless sensor networks monitor dynamic environments that change rapidly
over time. This dynamic behavior is either caused by external factors or
initiated by the system designers themselves. To adapt to such conditions,
sensor networks often adopt machine learning techniques to eliminate the need
for unnecessary redesign. Machine learning also inspires many practical
solutions that maximize resource utilization and prolong the lifespan of the
network. In this paper, we present an extensive literature review over the
period 2002-2013 of machine learning methods that were used to address common
issues in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The advantages and disadvantages of
each proposed algorithm are evaluated against the corresponding problem. We
also provide a comparative guide to aid WSN designers in developing suitable
machine learning solutions for their specific application challenges.Comment: Accepted for publication in IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorial
