    This article presents algorithms for controlling a mobile robot. An algorithms are based on artificial neural network and fuzzy logic. Distance was measured with the use of ultrasonic sensor. The equipment applied as well as signal processing algorithms were characterized. Tests were carried out on a mobile wheeled robot. The analysis of the influence of algorithm while avoiding obstacles was made.W artykule przedstawiono algorytmy sterowania robotem mobilnym. Wykorzystano algorytm oparty o sztuczną sieć neuronową oraz logikę rozmytą. Odległość od przeszkód mierzono za pomocą czujnika ultradźwiękowego. Scharakteryzowano zastosowane urządzenia oraz algorytmy przetwarzania sygnałów. Testy przeprowadzono na mobilnym robocie kołowym.     Development and evaluation of a fault detection and identification scheme for the WVU YF-22 UAV using the artificial immune system approach

    A failure detection and identification (FDI) scheme is developed for a small remotely controlled jet aircraft based on the Artificial Immune System (AIS) paradigm. Pilot-in-the-loop flight data are used to develop and test a scheme capable of identifying known and unknown aircraft actuator and sensor failures. Negative selection is used as the main mechanism for self/non-self definition; however, an alternative approach using positive selection to enhance performance is also presented. Tested failures include aileron and stabilator locked at trim and angular rate sensor bias. Hyper-spheres are chosen to represent detectors. Different definitions of distance for the matching rules are applied and their effect on the behavior of hyper-bodies is discussed. All the steps involved in the creation of the scheme are presented including design selections embedded in the different algorithms applied to generate the detectors set. The evaluation of the scheme is performed in terms of detection rate, false alarms, and detection time for normal conditions and upset conditions. The proposed detection scheme achieves good detection performance for all flight conditions considered. This approach proves promising potential to cope with the multidimensional characteristics of integrated/comprehensive detection for aircraft sub-system failures.;A preliminary performance comparison between an AIS based FDI scheme and a Neural Network and Floating Threshold based one is presented including groundwork on assessing possible improvements on pilot situational awareness aided by FDI schemes. Initial results favor the AIS approach to FDI due to its rather undemanding adaptation capabilities to new environments. The presence of the FDI scheme suggests benefits for the interaction between the pilot and the upset conditions by improving the accuracy of the identification of each particular failure and decreasing the detection delays

    Efficient Perception, Planning, and Control Algorithms for Vision-Based Automated Vehicles

    Autonomous vehicles have limited computational resources; hence, their control systems must be efficient. The cost and size of sensors have limited the development of self-driving cars. To overcome these restrictions, this study proposes an efficient framework for the operation of vision-based automatic vehicles; the framework requires only a monocular camera and a few inexpensive radars. The proposed algorithm comprises a multi-task UNet (MTUNet) network for extracting image features and constrained iterative linear quadratic regulator (CILQR) and vision predictive control (VPC) modules for rapid motion planning and control. MTUNet is designed to simultaneously solve lane line segmentation, the ego vehicle's heading angle regression, road type classification, and traffic object detection tasks at approximately 40 FPS (frames per second) for 228 x 228 pixel RGB input images. The CILQR controllers then use the MTUNet outputs and radar data as inputs to produce driving commands for lateral and longitudinal vehicle guidance within only 1 ms. In particular, the VPC algorithm is included to reduce steering command latency to below actuator latency to prevent self-driving vehicle performance degradation during tight turns. The VPC algorithm uses road curvature data from MTUNet to estimate the correction of the current steering angle at a look-ahead point to adjust the turning amount. Including the VPC algorithm in a VPC-CILQR controller on curvy roads leads to higher performance than CILQR alone. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed autonomous driving system, which does not require high-definition maps, could be applied in current autonomous vehicles.Comment: 10 figures, 13 page
