    A cybernetics Social Cloud

    © 2015 Elsevier Inc. This paper proposes a Social Cloud, which presents the system design, development and analysis. The technology is based on the BOINC open source software, our hybrid Cloud, Facebook Graph API and our development in a new Facebook API, SocialMedia. The creation of SocialMedia API with its four functions can ensure a smooth delivery of Big Data processing in the Social Cloud, with four selected examples provided. The proposed solution is focused on processing the contacts who click like or comment on the author's posts. Outputs result in visualization with their core syntax being demonstrated. Four functions in the SocialMedia API have evaluation test and each client-server API processing can be completed efficiently and effectively within 1.36 s. We demonstrate large scale simulations involved with 50,000 simulations and all the execution time can be completed within 70,000 s. Cybernetics functions are created to ensure that 100% job completion rate for Big Data processing. Results support our case for Big Data processing on Social Cloud with no costs involved. All the steps involved have closely followed system design, implementation, experiments and validation for Cybernetics to ensure a high quality of outputs and services at all times. This offers a unique contribution for Cybernetics to meet Big Data research challenges

    Open Journal of Big Data (OJBD) (www.ronpub.com/ojbd) is an open access journal, which addresses the aspects of Big Data, including new methodologies, processes, case studies, poofs-of-concept, scientific demonstrations, industrial applications and adoption. This editorial presents two articles published in the first issue of the second volume of OJBD. The first article is about the investigation of social media for the public engagement. The second article looks into large-scale semantic web indices for six RDF collation orders. OJBD has an increasingly improved reputation thanks to the support of research communities. We will set up the Second International Conference on Internet of Things, Big Data and Security (IoTBDS 2017), in Porto, Portugal, between 24 and 26 April 2017.     Conformance of Social Media as Barometer of Public Engagement

    There have been continuously a number of expectations: Social media may play a role of indicator that shows the degree of engagement and preference of choices of users toward music or movies. However, finding appropriate software tools in the market to verify this sort of expectation is too costly and complicated in their natures, and this causes a number of difficulties to attempt technical experimentation. A convenient and easy tool to facilitate such experimentation was developed in this study and was used successfully for performing various measurements with regard to user engagement in music and movies

    Review of economic bubbles

To support this research, literature has been consulted on historical and recent bubbles, theories surrounding speculation, the market for venture capital, and bubbles in the technology sector. By analysing a range of bubbles, rather than just those in the technology sector, general bubble-principles are also identified. All the economic bubbles are classified under "uncontrolled risk" and a recommended method that can detect and analyse full impacts by uncontrolled risk will be presented, together with future directions to be discussed

    Identifying the influential spreaders in multilayer interactions of online social networks

    Online social networks (OSNs) portray a multi-layer of interactions through which users become a friend, information is propagated, ideas are shared, and interaction is constructed within an OSN. Identifying the most influential spreaders in a network is a significant step towards improving the use of existing resources to speed up the spread of information for application such as viral marketing or hindering the spread of information for application like virus blocking and rumor restraint. Users communications facilitated by OSNs could confront the temporal and spatial limitations of traditional communications in an exceptional way, thereby presenting new layers of social interactions, which coincides and collaborates with current interaction layers to redefine the multiplex OSN. In this paper, the effects of different topological network structure on influential spreaders identification are investigated. The results analysis concluded that improving the accuracy of influential spreaders identification in OSNs is not only by improving identification algorithms but also by developing a network topology that represents the information diffusion well. Moreover, in this paper a topological representation for an OSN is proposed which takes into accounts both multilayers interactions as well as overlaying links as weight. The measurement results are found to be more reliable when the identification algorithms are applied to proposed topological representation compared when these algorithms are applied to single layer representations

    UML models consistency management: guidelines for software quality manager

    Unified Modeling Language (UML) has become the de-facto standard to design today’s large-size object-oriented systems. However, focusing on multiple UML diagrams is a main cause of breaching the consistency problem, which ultimately reduces the overall software model’s quality. Consistency management techniques are widely used to ensure the model consistency by correct model-to-model and model-to-code transformation. Consistency management becomes a promising area of research especially for model-driven architecture. In this paper, we extensively review UML consistency management techniques. The proposed techniques have been classified based on the parameters identified from the research literature. Moreover, we performed a qualitative comparison of consistency management techniques in order to identify current research trends, challenges and research gaps in this field of study. Based on the results, we concluded that researchers have not provided more attention on exploring inter-model and semantic consistency problems. Furthermore, state-of-the-art consistency management techniques mostly focus only on three UML diagrams (i.e., class, sequence and state chart) and the remaining UML diagrams have been overlooked. Consequently, due to this incomplete body of knowledge, researchers are unable to take full advantage of overlooked UML diagrams, which may be otherwise useful to handle the consistency management challenge in an efficient manner

    A survey on test suite reduction frameworks and tools

    Software testing is a widely accepted practice that ensures the quality of a System under Test (SUT). However, the gradual increase of the test suite size demands high portion of testing budget and time. Test Suite Reduction (TSR) is considered a potential approach to deal with the test suite size problem. Moreover, a complete automation support is highly recommended for software testing to adequately meet the challenges of a resource constrained testing environment. Several TSR frameworks and tools have been proposed to efficiently address the test-suite size problem. The main objective of the paper is to comprehensively review the state-of-the-art TSR frameworks to highlights their strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, the paper focuses on devising a detailed thematic taxonomy to classify existing literature that helps in understanding the underlying issues and proof of concept. Moreover, the paper investigates critical aspects and related features of TSR frameworks and tools based on a set of defined parameters. We also rigorously elaborated various testing domains and approaches followed by the extant TSR frameworks. The results reveal that majority of TSR frameworks focused on randomized unit testing, and a considerable number of frameworks lacks in supporting multi-objective optimization problems. Moreover, there is no generalized framework, effective for testing applications developed in any programming domain. Conversely, Integer Linear Programming (ILP) based TSR frameworks provide an optimal solution for multi-objective optimization problems and improve execution time by running multiple ILP in parallel. The study concludes with new insights and provides an unbiased view of the state-of-the-art TSR frameworks. Finally, we present potential research issues for further investigation to anticipate efficient TSR frameworks

    Software cybernetics research is to apply a variety of techniques from cybernetics research to software engineering research. For more than fifteen years since 2001, there has been a dramatic increase in work relating to software cybernetics. From cybernetics viewpoint, the work is mainly on the first-order level, namely, the software under observation and control. Beyond the first-order cybernetics, the software, developers/users, and running environments influence each other and thus create feedback to form more complicated systems. We classify software cybernetics as Software Cybernetics I based on the first-order cybernetics, and as Software Cybernetics II based on the higher order cybernetics. This paper provides a review of the literature on software cybernetics, particularly focusing on the transition from Software Cybernetics I to Software Cybernetics II. The results of the survey indicate that some new research areas such as Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, cyber-physical systems, and even creative computing are related to Software Cybernetics II. The paper identifies the relationships between the techniques of Software Cybernetics II applied and the new research areas to which they have been applied, formulates research problems and challenges of software cybernetics with the application of principles of Phase II of software cybernetics; identifies and highlights new research trends of software cybernetic for further research
