    Towards formal models and languages for verifiable Multi-Robot Systems

    Incorrect operations of a Multi-Robot System (MRS) may not only lead to unsatisfactory results, but can also cause economic losses and threats to safety. These threats may not always be apparent, since they may arise as unforeseen consequences of the interactions between elements of the system. This call for tools and techniques that can help in providing guarantees about MRSs behaviour. We think that, whenever possible, these guarantees should be backed up by formal proofs to complement traditional approaches based on testing and simulation. We believe that tailored linguistic support to specify MRSs is a major step towards this goal. In particular, reducing the gap between typical features of an MRS and the level of abstraction of the linguistic primitives would simplify both the specification of these systems and the verification of their properties. In this work, we review different agent-oriented languages and their features; we then consider a selection of case studies of interest and implement them useing the surveyed languages. We also evaluate and compare effectiveness of the proposed solution, considering, in particular, easiness of expressing non-trivial behaviour.Comment: Changed formattin

    A mobile agent strategy for grid interoperable virtual organisations

    During the last few years much effort has been put into developing grid computing and proposing an open and interoperable framework for grid resources capable of defining a decentralized control setting. Such environments may define new rules and actions relating to internal Virtual Organisation (VO) members and therefore posing new challenges towards to an extended cooperation model of grids. More specifically, VO policies from the viewpoint of internal knowledge and capabilities may be expressed in the form of intelligent agents thus providing a more autonomous solution of inter-communicating members. In this paper we propose an interoperable mobility agent model that performs migration to any interacting VO member and by traveling within each domain allows the discovery of resources dynamically. The originality of our approach is the mobility mechanism based on traveling and migration which stores useful information during the route to each visited individual. The method is considered under the Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) standard which provides an on demand resource provisioning model for autonomous mobile agents. Finally the decentralization of the proposed model is achieved by providing each member with a public profile of personal information which is available upon request from any interconnected member during the resource discovery process

    Decentralized Energy Marketplace via NFTs and AI-based Agents

    The paper introduces an advanced Decentralized Energy Marketplace (DEM) integrating blockchain technology and artificial intelligence to manage energy exchanges among smart homes with energy storage systems. The proposed framework uses Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to represent unique energy profiles in a transparent and secure trading environment. Leveraging Federated Deep Reinforcement Learning (FDRL), the system promotes collaborative and adaptive energy management strategies, maintaining user privacy. A notable innovation is the use of smart contracts, ensuring high efficiency and integrity in energy transactions. Extensive evaluations demonstrate the system's scalability and the effectiveness of the FDRL method in optimizing energy distribution. This research significantly contributes to developing sophisticated decentralized smart grid infrastructures. Our approach broadens potential blockchain and AI applications in sustainable energy systems and addresses incentive alignment and transparency challenges in traditional energy trading mechanisms.     Today's enterprises are faced with highly dynamic, sometimes even hostile environments. This paper dicovers that the two most prominent organizational strategies addressing these challenges, namely that of widespread decentralization and of business process orientation, are inherently conflicting. We argue that cooperative knowledge processing technology can contribute to dissolve this conflict. For this purpose, we introduce the reader into the field of Distributed Artificial Intelligence. On that basis we then develop the concept of Agent oriEnted orGanISations (AEGIS), in order to support the flexible modeling and management of business processes in decentralized organizational settings. Applying to methods of Distributed Planning a set of process modeling and process interaction operators is defined. These operators also permit to automatically create and customize computerized configurations of business processes. The concepts are presented in the context of an application in private banking, namely that of a Credit Advisory System.<br
