Internet of robotic things : converging sensing/actuating, hypoconnectivity, artificial intelligence and IoT Platforms
The Internet of Things (IoT) concept is evolving rapidly and influencing newdevelopments in various application domains, such as the Internet of MobileThings (IoMT), Autonomous Internet of Things (A-IoT), Autonomous Systemof Things (ASoT), Internet of Autonomous Things (IoAT), Internetof Things Clouds (IoT-C) and the Internet of Robotic Things (IoRT) etc.that are progressing/advancing by using IoT technology. The IoT influencerepresents new development and deployment challenges in different areassuch as seamless platform integration, context based cognitive network integration, new mobile sensor/actuator network paradigms, things identification(addressing, naming in IoT) and dynamic things discoverability and manyothers. The IoRT represents new convergence challenges and their need to be addressed, in one side the programmability and the communication ofmultiple heterogeneous mobile/autonomous/robotic things for cooperating, their coordination, configuration, exchange of information, security, safetyand protection. Developments in IoT heterogeneous parallel processing/communication and dynamic systems based on parallelism and concurrencyrequire new ideas for integrating the intelligent âdevicesâ, collaborativerobots (COBOTS), into IoT applications. Dynamic maintainability, selfhealing,self-repair of resources, changing resource state, (re-) configurationand context based IoT systems for service implementation and integrationwith IoT network service composition are of paramount importance whennew âcognitive devicesâ are becoming active participants in IoT applications. This chapter aims to be an overview of the IoRT concept, technologies, architectures and applications and to provide a comprehensive coverage offuture challenges, developments and applications
Storage Solutions for Big Data Systems: A Qualitative Study and Comparison
Big data systems development is full of challenges in view of the variety of
application areas and domains that this technology promises to serve.
Typically, fundamental design decisions involved in big data systems design
include choosing appropriate storage and computing infrastructures. In this age
of heterogeneous systems that integrate different technologies for optimized
solution to a specific real world problem, big data system are not an exception
to any such rule. As far as the storage aspect of any big data system is
concerned, the primary facet in this regard is a storage infrastructure and
NoSQL seems to be the right technology that fulfills its requirements. However,
every big data application has variable data characteristics and thus, the
corresponding data fits into a different data model. This paper presents
feature and use case analysis and comparison of the four main data models
namely document oriented, key value, graph and wide column. Moreover, a feature
analysis of 80 NoSQL solutions has been provided, elaborating on the criteria
and points that a developer must consider while making a possible choice.
Typically, big data storage needs to communicate with the execution engine and
other processing and visualization technologies to create a comprehensive
solution. This brings forth second facet of big data storage, big data file
formats, into picture. The second half of the research paper compares the
advantages, shortcomings and possible use cases of available big data file
formats for Hadoop, which is the foundation for most big data computing
technologies. Decentralized storage and blockchain are seen as the next
generation of big data storage and its challenges and future prospects have
also been discussed
Adapting hybrid approaches for electronic medical record management and sharing using blockchain sharding
In the past few years, it is noticed that management and sharing medical records is a key step towards increasing healthcare provider connectivity and making the healthcare system more efficient. The scalability and sustainability issues confer to mismanagement of patient is record and also raised several issues in privacy and security. The study aims to suggest more efficient alternatives for Electronic Healthcare System. Scalability and privacy are the major limitations that existing systems contain so the goal of this study is to define alternatives about how parameters like scalability, usability and data protection could be achieved in an efficient manner for healthcare system. In the healthcare industry, providing accurate, thorough, and up-to-date information on patients is critical. Another feature that allows researchers to consider efficient EHR systems is rapid access to patient records for boosting efficiency and coordination. Blockchain sharding technique is utilized along with hyper-ledger protocols and Proof-of-Authority to carry out our model implementation
Networking Architecture and Key Technologies for Human Digital Twin in Personalized Healthcare: A Comprehensive Survey
Digital twin (DT), refers to a promising technique to digitally and
accurately represent actual physical entities. One typical advantage of DT is
that it can be used to not only virtually replicate a system's detailed
operations but also analyze the current condition, predict future behaviour,
and refine the control optimization. Although DT has been widely implemented in
various fields, such as smart manufacturing and transportation, its
conventional paradigm is limited to embody non-living entities, e.g., robots
and vehicles. When adopted in human-centric systems, a novel concept, called
human digital twin (HDT) has thus been proposed. Particularly, HDT allows in
silico representation of individual human body with the ability to dynamically
reflect molecular status, physiological status, emotional and psychological
status, as well as lifestyle evolutions. These prompt the expected application
of HDT in personalized healthcare (PH), which can facilitate remote monitoring,
diagnosis, prescription, surgery and rehabilitation. However, despite the large
potential, HDT faces substantial research challenges in different aspects, and
becomes an increasingly popular topic recently. In this survey, with a specific
focus on the networking architecture and key technologies for HDT in PH
applications, we first discuss the differences between HDT and conventional
DTs, followed by the universal framework and essential functions of HDT. We
then analyze its design requirements and challenges in PH applications. After
that, we provide an overview of the networking architecture of HDT, including
data acquisition layer, data communication layer, computation layer, data
management layer and data analysis and decision making layer. Besides reviewing
the key technologies for implementing such networking architecture in detail,
we conclude this survey by presenting future research directions of HDT
A Comprehensive Review on Blockchain Technology in Healthcare System
Blockchain technology is a transformative force with far-reaching implications in various professional sectors, including healthcare. This technology is characterized by its continuous evolution, fostering trust and information security across geographical distances through a linked series of data blocks. In recent years, the surge in blockchain adoption has spurred extensive research and innovation, particularly in healthcare applications. This survey offers a comprehensive examination of emerging blockchain-based healthcare technologies and their associated applications. It delves into key research areas within this rapidly growing field, providing detailed insights. Moreover, it underscores the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize the healthcare industry by enhancing data security, fostering transparency, and enabling innovative solutions
Tracking News Stories Using Blockchain to Guarantee their Traceability and Information Analysis
Nowadays, having a mechanism to guarantee the traceability of the information and to monitor the evolution of the news from its origin, and having elements to know the reputation and credibility of the media, analyze the news as well as its evolution and possible manipulation, etc. is becoming increasingly significant. Transparency in journalism is currently a key element in performing serious and rigorous journalism. End-users and fact-checking agencies need to be able to check and verify the information published in different media. This transparency principle enables the tracking of news stories and allows direct access to the source of essential content to contrast the information it contains and to know whether it has been manipulated. Additionally, the traceability of news constitutes another instrument in the fight against the lack of credibility, the manipulation of information, misinformation campaigns and the propagation of fake news. This article aims to show how to use Blockchain to facilitate the tracking and traceability of news so that it can provide support to the automatic indexing and extraction of relevant information from newspaper articles to facilitate the monitoring of the news story and allows users to verify the veracity of what they are reading
