Happy End
Happy End is a musical about capitalism, spiritual and gang-land armies, and theatre. Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht’s attempt at a follow-up to the very successful Threepenny Opera follows the romance between a Salvation Army worker and gang leader and features the exquisite Surabaya Johnny, Bilbao Song and Mandalay Song. While seeming familiar to fans of Guys and Dolls, Happy End pre-dates it by 21 years and is fuelled at once by Brecht’s desire to dismantle political structures and Weill’s music that drives narrative structure and character. Overshadowed by Threepenny Opera, Happy End is a “young” musical, a melodrama, a romp and an examination of corruption and power... all at once.https://source.sheridancollege.ca/faad_visu_uniq_theatre/1196/thumbnail.jp

Happy End, December 2 – 11, 2010
Set against the backdrop of the greed of American capitalism, personified by tycoons like John D. Rockefeller, Henry Ford and J.P. Morgan, a gang of entrepreneurial Chicago gangsters, led by top tough guy Bill Cracker, hangs out in Bill’s Beer Hall, and plots to control the local territory. But when a Salvation Army band, led by Sister Lillian Holiday, tries to convert the gang, things don’t quite work out as planned. Surprise revelations, contentious moralistic conclusions, and one of the most celebrated scores by Kurt Weill and Bertholt Brecht, make this frothy satire one of the great evenings in the theatre.
Music by Kurt Weill, lyrics by Bertholt Brecht. Book by Elisabeth Hauptmann, lyrics & book adapted by Michael Feingold.

It is widely known that male and female have different personalities.
When these differences are not ignored, problems experienced in mutual relations
are no longer seen. This study focuses on how male and female view marriage by

in marriage are addressed by integrating the ideas of various researchers,
psychologists, and sociologists on male and female psychology. Expectations of
males and females from marriage are listed and the possible consequences of

Competitiveness and Corruption in Romania - Forecasting in the Context of the Romanian Integration into the European Union
Competitiveness and corruption are now - more than ever before - two real challenges for Romania on its way to the European integration. The theoretical approaches to those concepts did not get to a unanimous and happy end and the real figures that evaluate them are not at all pleasing for Romania. Our country registers low positions in the world and European hierarchies both regarding competitiveness and corruption. But, still it looks forward for its integration into the EU. The gaps that separate Romania from the European average scores are significant and by this paper we try to forecast some development directions and to estimate some time horizons in order to reduce the gaps, by significantly increasing competitiveness and diminish corruption.Competitiveness, Corruption, Forecasting, Integration, Gap Reduction
Santa and the moon
Happy end-of-the-year evening and night events provide good opportunities to
explain the phases of the moon. The need for such moon phase education is once
again demonstrated, through an investigation of illustrations on Santa Claus
and Christmas gift wrap and in children's books, in two countries which have
been important in shaping the image of Santa Claus and his predecessor
Sinterklaas: The Netherlands and the USA. The moon on Halloween illustrations
is also considered. The lack of knowledge concerning the physical origin of the
moon phases, or lack of interest in understanding, is found to be widespread in
The Netherlands but is also clearly present in the USA, and is quite possibly
global. Definitely incomplete, but surely representative lists compiling both
scientifically correct and scientifically incorrect gift wrap and children's
books are also presented.Comment: Text, plus 4 figures and 4 tables; to appear in vol.12 of the
