In this paper we are going to deal with charters of forgiveness of King John II’s chancery concerning sex crimes such as concubinage, panderism, incest, witchcraft, ruffianism, bigamy and adultery. These relationships are prone to be punished by royal legislation. The charters of forgiveness are part of the royal centralization process and of the acting of power throughout the ability of acting upon, governing and transforming a specific geographical area. It’s possible to infer that the chancery serves the power considering that writing is an essential element to prove and verify rights, properties, privileges and a great deal of juridical acts, such as the charters of forgiveness in which it is determined that only the king himself is able to grant benefits and forgiveness

QUÃO ÍNTIMAS SÃO AS “IDEIAS ÍNTIMAS”?: ANÁLISE DO POEMA DE ÁLVARES DE AZEVEDO

his interpretation of “Ideias Íntimas”, a poem from the book Lira dos vinte anos, from Álvares de Azevedo, proposes to investigate the elements that give a dramatic course to the text, considering the well-known approximation of the poet to the preface Do grotesco e do sublime, from Victor Hugo, which debates, besides aesthetic categories, the ideal dramatic conception from the romantic point of view, besides the pathos present in the poem and the movement of the character by the house and his feelings for objects. Based on Cilaine Alves’ interpretation which considers the poem as a “miscellaneous poem”, a mixture of literary styles, and on Camilo’s interpretation which considers the text as meditative, our interpretation considers the poem as a revision of many poetic postures and the search of the poet for a unique posture which legitimates the poetry in the XIX century, configuring, in this way, a short “drama”

We present a Brazilian Portuguese version of the poem In Quintum Novembirs by John Milton (1608-1674); it is followed by the original version in Latin. It was composed probably in 1625 to celebrate the Gunpowder Plot that happened on November 5th, 1605

This article has for objective to discuss the approach of cultural aspects in the English language classes, always pointing the relevance of working language associated to the culture. We present some definitions of language, identity and culture, and some expressed relationships of these elements in the existent dialogue in the language teaching and learning. By discussing on the foreign language teacher's intercultural formation, some of the problems found by the teachers while they work with cultural aspects are also pointed out, presenting suggestions and considerations to favor a critical intercultural teaching

Functional paradigm of grammaticalization (grammaticalization theory) is a perspective in the linguistics studies which analyses the process in which items become more grammatical in the time. As paradigm, grammaticalization treats of how the forms and grammatical constructions appear, how are the forms used and how model the language. Studies of this nature won space in the linguistic literature in the 1970’s, exploding in the 1990’s. In this text, the concepts of grammaticalization are presented in the perspective of the functional paradigm of the grammaticalization, are discussed the critics at concepts and yours replies, and are analyzed some possible directions for the studies

n this study, we develop some considerations about language teaching in the 1950s. To this end, we did a study on a chapter, in particular, called “Aspectos do ensino da língua”, from the work Introdução ao Estudo da Filologia Portuguêsa, 1st edition, 1956, by Serafim da Silva Neto. Our interest is the conception of language teaching that permeates the scientific discourse that circulated in academia in the mid-1950s. This time window was delimited because it precedes the institutionalization of linguistics as a discipline within academia, as well as being a period in which there is not a prestige of the traditional grammatical knowledge
