Calculating Colimits Compositionally
We show how finite limits and colimits can be calculated compositionally
using the algebras of spans and cospans, and give as an application a proof of
the Kleene Theorem on regular languages

The Theory of Monetary Aggregation (book front matter)
This is the front matter from the book, William A. Barnett and Apostolos Serletis (eds.), The Theory of Monetary Aggregation, published in 2000 by Elsevier in its Contributions to Economic Anaysis mongraph series. The front matter includes the Table of Contents and the Introduction by Barnett and Serletis and the Preface by W. Erwin Diewert. The volume contains a unified collection and discussion of W. A. Barnett's most important published papers on financial aggregation theory and monetary economics.monetary aggregation, money demand, Divisia, Divisia monetary aggregates, index number theory, aggregation theory
Confluence: the Galician Origins of Polish Analytic Philosophy
Separate Austrian influences, those of Bolzano and Brentano, came together in the work of Kazimierz Twardowski, the founder of the Lvov–Warsaw School and Polish analytic philosophy. From Bolzano he took the ideas of abstract content and absolute truth; from Brentano the centrality of intentionality and the role of psychology, and from both an awareness of the historical depth of philosophy. These streams flowed together in and through him to form central doctrines, attitudes and practices of that School, from its origins in 1895 to its continuation in contemporary Polish philosophy
Two-parameter Sturm-Liouville problems
This paper deals with the computation of the eigenvalues of two-parameter
Sturm- Liouville (SL) problems using the Regularized Sampling Method, a method
which has been effective in computing the eigenvalues of broad classes of SL
problems (Singular, Non-Self-Adjoint, Non-Local, Impulsive,...). We have shown,
in this work that it can tackle two-parameter SL problems with equal ease. An
example was provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.Comment: 9 page
On the Potential of Large Ring Lasers
We describe a new ring laser with area A = 833 m^2 and update performance
statistics for several such machines. Anandan & Chaio 1982 judged ring lasers
inferior to matter interferometers as possible detectors of gravitational
waves. However, we note that geophysically interesting results have been
obtained from large ring lasers and that there is still a lot of room for
improvements.Comment: accepted optics communication
