Uppdelning i mindre flockar syntes hĂ€r, liksom i andra studier, minska fjĂ€derplockningen.
Arbetet Àr indelat i tvÄ delar. The purpose of this thesis is to make a thorough business plan for an interior design store. The goal for this thesis is to see if the business idea is profitable. We want to find out what an entrepreneur needs to think about and know when starting a business. Interest for interior design has increased in the past years, which has also increased the number of interior design stores. The competition on the market is fierce and it is therefore important to find your own niche. Our business idea is to import and sell Scandinavian interior products that are rare in Helsinki. This thesis will be useful when we open our own interior design store in the future.
This thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part consists of a business plan, while the empirical part consists of three interviews with entrepreneurs in the interior design industry. The interviews are first compared with each other, and then we look at the differences and similarities between our business plan and how the entrepreneurs manage their businesses. By comparing our business plan with the knowledge we gained from the interviews, we came to the conclusion that we need to make some changes in our business plan, so that our business would be profitable
Gyltorna delades in i 3 olika grupper, gyltor som Ă€gnade mycket (HĂG)
placerades i gruppen MEDEL.
Sows has a strong motivation of building a nest before farrowing although their environment has
changed a lot from living outside and now instead, they live inside with heated floors in the piglet
corner. The purpose of this study is to see how the gilts nesting behavior will affect the number of
weaned piglets and their weaned weight and to investigate why the piglets die. There were 15 gilts
in the study and their 231 piglets. The gilts were filmed from 18 h before farrowing until 2 hours
after. The gilts were divided into three groups, one with gilts that spent a lot of time nest-building
(HIGH) respective less time (LOW) and those gilts that was not placed in one of the two groups
were placed in a new group (MIDDLE). The piglets were weight at birth and at weaning. Those
piglets that died were examined to find out what caused the death. The gilts had a wide individual
difference in nest building time. HIGH spent significantly more time nest building compared to
LOW (median value 268 min, respective 62 min, p=0,021) and between HIGH and MIDDLE (median value for MIDDLE 122 min, p=0,008), MIDDLE and LOW (p=0,008). Between piglet mortality and the three groups of gilts there were no significant difference. But when comparing the number of crushed piglets and nest-building behavior I could see a numerical difference 1-6 h before
farrowing. Those gilts that crushed one or more piglets spent less time nest-building close to farrowing than the gilts that did not crush any piglet. However, the difference was not statistically
significant. Nest-building did not affect the growth rate (p=0,117), but the number of weaned piglets
did (p=0,025). When thereâs few piglets in a litter the growth rate will increase. Further research in
nest-building behavior with a larger number of animals needs to be examined to see what affects the
piglets
The aim of this study was to make a survey of childrens and adolescents wishes concerning the own patientroom, to improve well-being. The research questions were developed with the help of the theroretical framework of the study, Ulrischâs (1991) theory âEffects of Interior Design on Wellnessâ, to gain answers that obtain the aim of the study. The study was conducted as a part of the project Lek, le och Trivs at Arcada and in collaboration with the association ProjectLiv, that also helped with the colleting of the data. It has been established that there is too little research about the environment specifically in the patientrooms, that is based on childrens and adoelscents own opinions and wishes. The construction of the hospital environment, its design as well as what the environment provides affects well-being. This is a qualitative study, and the data was collected from drawings made by children and adolescents. The drawings were collected through a drawing task that children and adolescents could participate in voluntarily. All in all 59 drawings were collected, from children and adolescents from 8-16 years old. The drawings were analysed through content analysis using Roseâs (2001) model for visual material. The results were then discussed with relation to the theoretical framework of the study. The results show that children and adolescents have many opinions and wishes concerning what the patient room should look like. The wishes painted in the drawings concerned topics as interior, opportunities to activities, opportunities to social support, nature and feeling of control of the own situation. The respondents of the study also identified a common feature concerning the need of feelings of security. The results also show that children and adolescents wishes are very different from how the rooms actually look today. These results have concrete tips on what should be done in the patient rooms so that they would improve well-being. In the future, this study could be used as a base and as an inspiration when planning patient rooms for children and adolescents

Occurence of desirable behaviours and stereotypies in relation to access of an outdoor area in giraffes (Giraffa Camelopardalis) at BorÄs djurpark, Sweden
In the wild, giraffes spend most of their day foraging and thus are most commonly
found on the savannah where there is plenty of greenery. They continuously move
to meet their daily nutritional need and can move over up to 437 km2
. Their diet is
rich in fibre and consists mostly of leaves, twigs and bark. Typically, the giraffe
spends mornings and evenings foraging and ruminating during the hottest part of
the day. The social structure in the giraffe herd is a fission-fusion system, where
individuals come and go on a daily basis. It is difficult to reconstruct a natural life
for giraffes in captivity, as limitations in form of space is a major problem. From
practical and economical aspects, it is difficult to recreate their natural diet as well.
Instead, captive giraffes are generally fed with feed appropriate for our
domesticated ruminants. However, the majority of zoos strive toward letting captive
animals perform as many natural behaviors as possible. The possibility to perform
natural behavior tends to reduce the risk of animals developing stereotypic
behavior. Furthermore, studies have shown that the size of the enclosure also has
an impact on the time captive giraffes spend ruminating and exhibit locomotive
behavior. This study was conducted to examine how access to an outdoor area
affected the occurrence of natural and stereotypic behavior in giraffes at BorÄs zoo,
Sweden. The giraffes were observed during two treatments, one with access to the
outdoor area and one without, in order to collect data which later were compared.
The results suggested that occurrence of natural and stereotypic behavior is related
to the possibility to access an outdoor area. When the giraffes had access to the
outdoor enclosure, the prevalence of stereotypies decreased, whilst the prevalence
of natural behavior increased. These findings suggest that outdoor access has an
impact on the behavior of the captive giraffe, but more studies need to be conducted
to investigate whether it is possible to apply these findings to giraffes in other zoos

Att kommunicera rummets varierande funktion genom 3D-visualiseringar is a thesis in information design with orientation in spatial design. The assignment comes from the company Husmuttern AB who work with house concept that will lead to production of module housing. The purpose has been to study how a 3D- visualisation should be formed to communicate rooms varying functions. All this so that I will know how to visualize a classroom in a module housing. To be able to come up with a 3D-model that have this quality it was requires to study communication between two parties, properties of the image, shape and color of the room, with the help of literature, previous research and user tests. Then it was possible to come up with a model that could communicate a classroom constructed in module. Through the user tests it was shown to be preferable with a model that focuses on the basic units of the module housing but that also has some realistic decor to show some function. All this resulted in a model which includes the basic units of the module on one half and realistic deÌcor on the other half in the same model. Thanks to literature and previous research the result for visualization was that it is common to use 3D-modells. In the modeling details and realistic views should be avoid. The focus should be on the essential or it will be too much for the viewer to take in and the message gets lost, but also that to realistic models were considered to be fully complete. All this resulted in a sketchy model with a small amount of deÌcor to show the rooms function
The aim of this report is to find cost-efficient fire safety solutions for saving lives due to fires in Swedish apartment buildings. This is done by evaluating existing systems through a cost-benefit analysis based on the value of a statistical life. The fire protection systems potential effects for different types of fires are evaluated based on a scenario analysis of the most common deaths due to fire. The report does not consider property damage within the cost-benefit analysis, as the focus of the report is life safety. For the general population the results show that only smoke alarms are cost-efficient. However, sprinklers and stove guards can be cost-efficient for elderly occupancies due to the elevated risk they are exposed to. If, in the future, the health and environmental hazards of fire retardant solutions are reduced, more onerous fire requirements on upholstered furnishing can be a legitimate alternative to increase life safety. Especially if targeted towards elderly occupancies
