    Enterprise Experience into the Integration of Human-Centered Design and Kanban

    he integration of Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Agile Software Development (ASD) promises the development of competitive products comprising a good User Experience (UX). This study has investigated the integration of HCD and Kanban with the aim to gain industrial experiences in a real world context. A case study showed that requirements flow into the development process in a structured manner by adding a design board. To this end, the transparency concerning recurring requirements increased. We contribute to the body of knowledge of software development by providing practical insights into Human-Centered Agile Development (HCAD). On one hand, it is shown that the integration of HCD and Kanban leads to a product with a good UX and makes the development process more human-centered.     A Framework to Evaluate Software Developer’s Productivity The VALORTIA Project

    Currently, there is a lack in companies developing software in relation to assessing their staff’s productivity before executing software projects, with the aim of improving effectiveness and efficiency. QuEF (Quality Evaluation Framework) is a framework that allows defining quality management tasks based on a model. The main purpose of this framework is twofold: improve an entity’s continuous quality, and given a context, decide between a set of entity’s instances on the most appropriate one. Thus, the aim of this paper is to make this framework available to evaluate productivity of professionals along software development and select the most appropriate experts to implement the suggested project. For this goal, Valortia platform, capable of carrying out this task by following the QuEF framework guidelines, is designed. Valortia is a platform to certify users' knowledge on a specific area and centralize all certification management in its model by means of providing protocols and methods for a suitable management, improving efficiency and effectiveness, reducing cost and ensuring continuous quality.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación TIN2013-46928-C3-3-

Today’s things are confined into a data-supplier role, which deprives them from being the technology of choice for smart applications development. Cognitive computing is about reasoning, learning, explaining, acting, etc. In this paper, cognitive things’ features include functional and non-functional restrictions along with a 3 stage operation cycle that takes into account these restrictions during reasoning, adaptation, and learning.     Normalization of Unstructured Log Data into Streams of Structured Event Objects

    Monitoring plays a crucial role in the operation of any sizeable distributed IT infrastructure. Whether it is a university network or cloud datacenter, monitoring information is continuously used in a wide spectrum of ways ranging from mission-critical jobs, e.g. accounting or incident handling, to equally important development-related tasks, e.g. debugging or fault-detection. Whilst pursuing a novel vision of new-generation event-driven monitoring systems, we have identified that a particularly rich source of monitoring information, computer logs, is also one of the most problematic in terms of automated processing. Log data are predominantly generated in an ad-hoc manner using a variety of incompatible formats with the most important pieces of information, i.e. log messages, in the form of unstructured strings. This clashes with our long-term goal of designing a system enabling its users to transparently define real-time continuous queries over homogeneous streams of properly defined monitoring event objects with explicitly described structure. Our goal is to bridge this gap by normalizing the poorly structured log data into streams of structured event objects. The combined challenge of this goal is structuring the log data, whilst considering the high velocity with which they are generated in modern IT infrastructures.
