    Este trabajo tiene como principal objetivo reflejar las carencias y beneficios que se han detectado en el primer curso de la asignatura de Introducción a la Economía, impartida en lengua inglesa por la profesora Dra. Guadalupe Valera Blanes. Dado que es la primera vez que se imparte en el nuevo escenario de grados,este trabajo pretende poder analizar aquellas deficiencias que quedan patentes sobre todo en las actividades escritas de los estudiantes, para así proponer cambios, tanto en la metodología de enseñanza como en los contenidos del curso y materiales. Asimismo, se ha hecho un pequeño estudio para conocer la opinión de los alumnos sobre la materia, con especial hincapié en el nivel de satisfacción y motivación.     Coupling Nd3+:Y2O3 fluorescent submicron particles to linear plasmonic chains

    We report on the fabrication and optical characterization of a new hybrid material consisting of Nd3+ doped Y2O3 submicron particles associated with linear chains of plasmonic nanostructures. By drop-casting deposition, single Nd3+ doped Y2O3 polycrystalline particles are dispersed and located in the vicinities of plasmonic chains of silver nanoparticles formed on the surface a LiNbO3 substrate. The interaction between the plasmonic modes of the chain with the fluorescent yttria submicron particles is analyzed by micro-luminescence experiments. Orthogonal polarization configurations of the excitation radiation, namely, perpendicular and parallel to plasmonic chain axis, are employed to study the effect of the longitudinal and transverse chain plasmonic modes on the luminescence of the particles. A remarkable dependence of the emission intensity of the Nd3+:Y2O3 submicron particles on the excitation polarization is observed, showing the capability of plasmonic chains to modulate the emission of fluorescent submicron particles in contact with the chain.     Light-induced ferroelectric modulation of p-n homojunctions in monolayer MoS2

    The association of 2D materials and ferroelectrics offers a promisingapproach to tune the optoelectronic properties of atomically thin TransitionMetal Dichalcogenides (TMDs). In this work, the combined effect offerroelectricity and light on the optoelectronic properties of monolayer(1L)-MoS2 deposited on periodically poled lithium niobate crystals is explored.Using scanning micro-photoluminescence, the effect of excitation intensity,scanning direction, and domain walls on the 1L-MoS2 photoluminescenceproperties is analyzed, offering insights into charge modulation of MoS2 . Thefindings unveil a photoinduced charging process dependent on theferroelectric domain orientation, in which light induces charge generation andtransfer at the monolayer-substrate interface. This highlights the substantialrole of light excitation in ferroelectrically-driven electrostatic doping in MoS 2 .Additionally, the work provides insights into the effect of the strong,nanometrically confined electric fields on LiNbO3 domain wall surfaces,demonstrating precise control over charge carriers in MoS2 , and enabling thecreation of deterministic p-n homojunctions with exceptional precision.     DNMR measurements of an asymmetric odd liquid crystal dimer: determination of the intramolecular angle and the degree of order of the two rigid cores

    In this work, we present a Deuteron Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (DNMR) study of the non-symmetric odd liquid crystal dimer α-(4-cyanobiphenyl-4′-yloxy)-ω-(1-pyrenimine-benzylidene-4′-oxy) heptane (CBO7O.Py), formed by a pro-mesogenic cyanobiphenyl unit and a bulky pyrene-containing unit, linked via alkoxy flexible chain. We have synthesized two partially deuterated samples: one with the deuterium atoms in the cyanobiphenyl moiety (dCBO7O.Py) and the other one with the deuterium atoms in the pyrenimine-benzylidene unit (CBO7O.dPy). We have performed angular distribution analysis in the SmA glassy state, obtaining the degree of order of both rigid cores and an estimation of the internal molecular angle between both structures. With the results from the angular study, we have been able to determine the degree of order of both rigid units in either the N phase and the SmA phase, far enough from the glass transition. Both rigid cores have the same degree of order close to the nematic–isotropic phase transition, but as the compound is cooled down, the degree of order of the cyanobiphenyl moiety is clearly higher than that of the pyrene-containing unit. The critical behaviour of the order parameter of the pyrene-containing moiety is consistent with the fact that, for CBO7O.Py, the N–I phase transition is tricritical, which seems to indicate that the uniaxial order parameter of the dimer is dominated by the degree of order of the pyrene-containing core.The authors from INMA greatly appreciate financial support from projects of the Spanish Government PDI2021-122882NB-I0 [MCIU/AEI/FEDER, UE] and the Gobierno de Aragón/FEDER (research group E47_20R).     Integrating 2D materials and plasmonics on lithium niobate platforms for pulsed laser operation at the nanoscale

    The current need for coherent light sources for integrated (nano)photonics motivates the search for novel laser designs emitting at technologically relevant wavelengths with high-frequency stability and low power consumption. Here, a new monolithic architecture that integrates monolayer MoS2 and chains of silver nanoparticles on a rare-earth (Nd3+) doped LiNbO3 platform is developed to demonstrate Q-switched lasing operation at the nanoscale. The localized surface plasmons provided by the nanoparticle chains spatially confine the gain generated by Nd3+ ions at subwavelength scales, and large-area monolayer MoS2 acts as saturable absorber. As a result, an ultra-compact coherent pulsed light source delivering stable train pulses with repetition rates of hundreds of kHz and pulse duration of 1 µs is demonstrated without the need of any voltage-driven optical modulation. Moreover, the monolithic integration of the different elements is achieved without sophisticated processing, and it is compatible with LiNbO3-based photonics. The results highlight the robustness of the approach, which can be extended to other 2D materials and solid-state gain media.     La figura del defensor del menor en la Comunidad de Madrid: un análisis intergubernamental y comparado

    Esta publicación da cuenta de una investigación, financiada por el Defensor del Menor de la Comunidad de Madrid (Asamblea de la Comunidad de Madrid) en que, de manera pionera, se aplica la metodología de análisis intergubernamental en España a una institución pública. También se aplica el análisis comparativo. La investigación contó con la participación en el trabajo de campo de decenas de organizaciones e instituciones públicas españolas y extranjeras. El estudio se desenvuelve en ocho capítulos, sin contar las conclusiones y las fuentes y anexos. En los primeros se realiza una aproximación a la metodología intergubernamental como marco de comprensión del conjunto de trabajo, se tratan los asuntos normativos y se analizan las redes de actores de que forma parte del Defensor del Menor, mostrando el lugar central que ocupa en varias de ellas. El capítulo VI profundiza en la legitimidad y realiza una operativización cualitativa de la misma a partir de la clásica distinción entre legitimidad institucional y por rendimientos, esquema que se confronta con las actuaciones del Defensor. El capítulo VII se plantea en qué medida el Defensor del Menor puede considerarse una organización moderna, en tanto que el VIII se centra en el análisis comparativo de esta figura con otras organizaciones defensoras de los derechos de la infancia tanto a nivel nacional como internacional

    Introduction: SARS CoV2 infection has had a major impact on renal transplant patients with a high mortality in the first months of the pandemic. Intentional reduction of immunosuppressive therapy has been postulated as one of the cornerstone in the management of the infection in the absence of targeted antiviral treatment. This has been modified according to the patient`s clinical situation and its effect on renal function or anti-HLA antibodies in the medium term has not been evaluated.Objectives: Evaluate the management of immunosuppressive therapy made during SARS-CoV2 infection, as well as renal function and anti-HLA antibodies in kidney transplant patients 6 months after COVID19 diagnosis.Material and methods: Retrospective, national multicentre, retrospective study (30 centres) of kidney transplant recipients with COVID19 from 01/02/20 to 31/12/20. Clinical variables were collected from medical records and included in an anonymised database. SPSS statistical software was used for data analysis.Results: renal transplant recipients with COVID19 were included (62.6% male), with a mean age of 57.5 years. The predominant immunosuppressive treatment prior to COVID19 was triple therapy with prednisone, tacrolimus and mycophenolic acid (54.6%) followed by m-TOR inhibitor regimens (18.6%). After diagnosis of infection, mycophenolic acid was discontinued in 73.8% of patients, m-TOR inhibitor in 41.4%, tacrolimus in 10.5% and cyclosporin A in 10%. In turn, 26.9% received dexamethasone and 50.9% were started on or had their baseline prednisone dose increased. Mean creatinine before diagnosis of COVID19, at diagnosis and at 6 months was: 1.7 +/- 0.8, 2.1 +/- 1.2 and 1.8 +/- 1 mg/dl respectively (p < 0.001). 56.9% of the patients (N = 350) were monitored for anti-HLA antibodies. 94% (N = 329) had no anti-HLA changes, while 6% (N = 21) had positive anti-HLA antibodies. Among the patients with donor-specific antibodies post-COVID19 (N = 9), 7 patients (3.1%) had one immunosuppressant discontinued (5 patients had mycophenolic acid and 2 had tacrolimus), 1 patient had both immunosuppressants discontinued (3.4%) and 1 patient had no change in immunosuppression (1.1%), these differences were not significant.Conclusions: The management of immunosuppressive therapy after diagnosis of COVID19 was primarily based on discontinuation of mycophenolic acid with very discrete reductions or discontinuations of calcineurin inhibitors. This immunosuppression management did not influence renal function or changes in anti-HLA antibodies 6 months after diagnosis

    Database of spatial distribution of non indigenous species in Spanish marine waters

    Research in marine Spanish waters are focused on several actions to achieve an effectively management on protected areas, with the active participation of the stakeholders and research as basic tools for decision-making. Among these actions, there is one about the knowledge and control on NIS. One of its objectives is the creation of NIS factsheets, which are going to be added to the National Marine Biodiversity Geographical System (GIS) providing complementary information about taxonomic classification, common names, taxonomic synonyms, species illustrations, identification morphological characters, habitat in the native and introduced regions, biological and ecological traits, GenBank DNA sequences, world distribution, first record and evolution in the introduced areas, likely pathways of introduction, effects in the habitats and interaction with native species, and potential management measures to apply. The database will also provide data for (1) the European online platforms, (2) the environmental assessment for the Descriptor 2 (D2-NIS) of the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), as well as (3) supporting decisions made by stakeholders. It is the result of extensive collaboration among scientist, manager’s and citizen science in the Spanish North-Atlantic, South-Atlantic, Gibraltar Strait-Alboran, Levantine-Balearic and Canary Islands marine divisions, providing an updated overview of the spatial distribution of relevant extended and invasive NIS of recent and established NIS introduced by maritime transport and aquaculture pathways, as well as on cryptogenic or native species in expansion due to the climatic water warming trend
