    Regioselective Synthesis of 1,3,5-Trisubstituted Pyrazoles from <i>N</i>‑Alkylated Tosylhydrazones and Terminal Alkynes

    An efficient synthesis of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazoles from <i>N</i>-alkylated tosylhydrazones and terminal alkynes was developed. The protocol was applied to a wide range of substrates and demonstrated excellent tolerance to a variety of substituents, including both electron-donating and -withdrawing groups. In comparison with the common approaches for substituted pyrazole syntheses, this methodology proceeded with complete regioselectivity, especially, in the cases that R<sup>2</sup> and R<sup>3</sup> are similar substituents

    Acupuncture Treatment for Cough-Variant Asthma: A Meta-Analysis

    Background. In recent years, there have been many clinical reports on acupuncture treatment of cough-variant asthma, but no researcher has objectively analysed and evaluated the efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment of cough-variant asthma from the perspective of evidence-based medicine. Objective. To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture in treating cough-variant asthma and to provide reference values for clinical decision-making. Methods. The comprehensive computer retrieval Chinese journal full-text database (CNKI), Chinese science and technology periodical database (VIP), ten thousand data knowledge service platform (WanFang Data), PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library were used to collect literature for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCT) of acupuncture treatment of cough-variant asthma, as well as to retrieve papers and add reference retrieval after literature review, in accordance with the standard of literature filtering, data extraction, and quality evaluation. The data were meta-analysed using ReviewManager5.3 software recommended by Cochrane. Results. A total of 11 randomized controlled clinical studies were screened and included, comprising 929 patients. The results of the meta-analysis showed that, compared with the control group, acupuncture intervention on CVA could enhance the total clinical effectiveness rate, reduce the relapse rate of drug withdrawal, relieve symptoms of cough, phlegm, and diaphragmatic congestion, and improve lung function-related indicators and immune inflammation indicators. There were statistically significant differences in all efficacy evaluation criteria. Conclusion. The clinical curative effect of acupuncture treatment for cough-variant asthma is precise and has certain advantages in relieving symptoms and reducing the recurrence rate. However, the low quality of the evaluation in the RCT research literature is a problem, and more high-quality clinical randomized controlled trials are needed to further verify the comprehensive clinical efficacy and safety of this treatment.     Knowledgezooclient: Constructing knowledge graph for android

    In this work, we describe the design and implementation of a reusable tool named KnowledgeZooClient targeting the construction, as a crowd-sourced effort, of a knowledge graph for Android apps. KnowledgeZooClient is made up of two modules: (1) the Metadata Extraction Module (MEM), which aims at extracting metadata from Android apps and (2) the Metadata Integration Module (MIM) for importing and integrating extracted metadata into a graph database. The usefulness of KnowledgeZooClient is demonstrated via an exclusive knowledge graph called KnowledgeZoo, which contains information on over 500,000 apps already and still keeps growing. Interested users can already benefit from KnowledgeZoo by writing advanced search queries so as to collect targeted app samples

    Design, synthesis and anticancer activities evaluation of novel pyrazole modified catalpol derivatives

    Abstract Catalpol, a natural product mainly existed in plenty of Chinese traditional medicines, is an iridoid compound with the comprehensive effects on neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, choleretic, hypoglycemic and anticancer. However, there are some disadvantages for catalpol such as a short half-life in vivo, low druggability, stingy binding efficiency to target proteins and so on. It is necessary to make structural modification and optimization which enhance its performance on disease treatments and clinic applications. Pyrazole compounds have been reported to have excellent anticancer activities. Based on the previous research foundation of our research group on iridoids and the anticancer activities of catalpol and pyrazole, a series of pyrazole modified catalpol compounds were synthesized by principle of drug combination for serving as potential cancer inhibitors. These derivatives are characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HRMS. The efficacy of anti-esophageal cancer and anti-pancreatic cancer activities were evaluated by the MTT assay on two esophageal cancer cells Eca-109 and EC-9706, and two pancreatic cancer cells PANC-1, BxPC-3 and normal pancreatic cell line HPDE6-C7, which showed that the compound 3e had strong inhibitory activity against esophageal cancer cells, this providing a theoretical basis for the discovery of catalpol-containing drugs

    Efficient adaptive prediction based reversible image watermarking

    In this paper, we propose a new reversible watermarking algorithm based on additive prediction-error expansion which can recover original image after extracting the hidden data. Embedding capacity of such algorithms depend on the prediction accuracy of the predictor. We observed that the performance of a predictor based on full context prediction is preciser as compared to that of partial context prediction. In view of this observation, we propose an efficient adaptive prediction (EAP) method based on full context, that exploits local characteristics of neighboring pixels much effectively than other prediction methods reported in literature. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has a better embedding capacity and also gives better Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) as compared to state-of-the-art reversible watermarking schemes. © 2013 IEEE
