The purpose of this study is to determine the factors affecting service quality at restaurants that operate in the service industry. Three restaurants operating in Trabzon were analyzed in terms of the quality of service they provided. In the study, the simple sampling random method was applied to 300 face-to-face interviews in which 30 surveys were deemed invalid and thus eliminated, resulting in a total of 270 surveys being evaluated. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was used to determine the dimensions of service quality. Subsequently, the service performance of the three restaurants were evaluated using the Topsis method (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) and the best restaurant alternative was ultimately identified. When decision matrix and evaluating the ranking results restaurant A is found 0,0019, restaurant B is 0,0017, restaurant C is 0,0018. When these results are considered in terms of service quality,  it can be observed that “A” is the most preferred restaurant by customers in terms of service performance. But the other two restaurants are so closed to “A” restaurant. This result, according to the criteria specified, may be indicative of restaurants operating in Trabzon are offering similar level of service to their customers. This study is limited to only restaurants in food-sector and only in Trabzon. Therefore, not presented any information about the validity of the results for different sectors. Future researches needs to be extended to other restaurants. Researchers also can use another multi-criteria decision making methodsKeywords. Effect of Carbon Nanofiber-Matrix Adhesion on Polymeric Nanocomposite Properties—Part II

    Get PDF
A successful integration of two independent phases with good adhesion is imperative for effective translation of superior carbon nanofiber filler properties into a physically superior carbon nanocomposite. Carbon nanofibers were subjected to electrochemical oxidation in 0.1 M nitric acid for varying times. The strength of adhesion between the nanofiber and an epoxy matrix was characterized by flexural strength and modulus. The surface functional groups formed and their concentration of nanofibers showed a dependence on the degree of oxidation. The addition of chemical functional groups on the nanofiber surface allows them to physically and chemically adhere to the continuous resin matrix. The chemical interaction with the continuous epoxy matrix results in the creation of an interphase region. The ability to chemically and physically interact with the epoxy region is beneficial to the mechanical properties of a carbon nanocomposite. A tailored degree of surface functionalization was found to increase adhesion to the matrix and increase flexural modulus

Development of simultaneous antioxidant and visual pH-sensing films based on guar gum loaded with Aronia melanocarpa extract

Anthocyanins have attracted increasing attention for different packaging systems due to having functional features such as biocompatibility, antioxidative activity, visible colour response at varying pH values. In this study, the extract of Aronia melanocarpa as anthocyanins source was incorporated into guar gum films to take advantage of both antioxidant and pH responsive attributes. Aronia addition did not affect the thermal stability of guar gum films. Radical scavenging activity of the films (%) was measured by 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, and aronia added films exhibited very strong antioxidant activity (up to 85%). The colour of aronia solution varied from pink to brown with pH ranging from 1 to 13. Similarly, when the films were immersed in buffer solutions at different pH values, the visual colour varied from pink to brownish yellow. ΔE values of GR_AR_3 (guar gum films having the highest aronia concentration) ranged between 23.31 and 40.62 at pH 1–13. This result proved colour change of the films can be even detected by untrained consumers. Furthermore, the films were found to be very sensitive to ammonia vapour. Aronia incorporated guar gum films could be suggested as both antioxidant films to prevent foods oxidation from oxidation and promising intelligent films to monitor the deterioration of foods

Objective: The microscopic and macroscopic features of the placenta can contribute to the clinical understanding of premature delivery. The aim of our study was to figure out the relationship between the histopathological findings of the placentas of premature deliveries and its effects on neonatal morbidity and mortality. Material and Method: The placentas of 284 singleton preterm infants with <35 weeks of gestation were examined. three groups created as the normal, chorioamnionitis and vasculopathy according to histopathological findings in placentas subjects. Results: The mean gestational age of the infants in the study group was 30.5 ± 3.2 weeks, and the mean birth weight was 1588 ± 581 g. The pathology was normal in ninety-six (33.8%), vasculopathy in 153 (53.9%) and chorioamnionitis in 35 (12.3%). The gestation age of the infants was lower in the chorioamnionitis group. Moreover, retinopathy of prematurity, early onset neonatal sepsis, and duration of respiratory support were found to be higher in the chorioamnionitis group. In the vasculopathy group, preeclampsia and small for gestational age were found to be significantly higher. Conclusion: Histopathological findings of the placentas from preterm deliveries provided important data in determining the etiology of preterm delivery and outcomes of infants. Infants delivered by mothers with chorioamnionitis were particularly found to be more preterm, and these preterm infants would have a longer hospital stay, higher respiratory support requirement, and more serious morbidities

Sınıf Ders Kitabı ve Dil ve Anlatım 9. Sınıf Ders Kitabı were compared and analyzed in terms of their structure, book covers, how the topics are dealt, and what advantages and disadvantages they offer. In addition to that, the following results were found. At the end of this research according to the structure of the books the conclusion is: The German course book is produced from high-class material and cover design is coherent with the content of the book. Turkish course book is made from low class physical material and cover design is not suitable for the content of the book. According to the content of the course books, the conclusion is: German course book was prepared by lots of student beneficial materials and is higher in cost and more detailed in its contents. Turkish course book mainly aims at self-practice and self-learning of the pupils by asking many questions and suggesting various implementations. Result of this study: German course book Blickfeld could be more effective by not including complicated and detailed content. Türk Edebiyatı 9. Sınıf ve Dil ve Anlatım 9. Sınıf Ders Kitabı could be more effective by additional theoretical information and practice sections
