This report is intended to make unsynthesized oceanographic data readily available to the scientific community. 3 Similar reports are envisioned which will include physical, chemical, biological and geological data collected by personnel of the Virginia Institute ·of Marine Science in areas of the continental shelf, and coastal zone to include beaches, wetlands, estuaries and tidal rivers - areas in which the Commonwealth of Virginia has a vested interest

Interlayer Exchange Coupling in (Ga,Mn)As-based Superlattices

The interlayer coupling between (Ga,Mn)As ferromagnetic layers in all-semiconductor superlattices is studied theoretically within a tight-binding model, which takes into account the crystal, band and magnetic structure of the constituent superlattice components. It is shown that the mechanism originally introduced to describe the spin correlations in antiferromagnetic EuTe/PbTe superlattices, explains the experimental results observed in ferromagnetic semiconductor structures, i.e., both the antiferromagnetic coupling between ferromagnetic layers in IV-VI (EuS/PbS and EuS/YbSe) superlattices as well as the ferromagnetic interlayer coupling in III-V ((Ga,Mn)As/GaAs) multilayer structures. The model allows also to predict (Ga,Mn)As-based structures, in which an antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling could be expected.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

Preface: World Literature in an Expanding Digital Space

    Get PDF
Wikipedia, the world’s largest encyclopedia, and Wikidata, the rapidly growing knowledge graph, are not yet widely used in literary studies, but their scale and multilingualism make them particularly suitable as new means for the study of world literature. This is the hypothesis at the heart of this special issue. Our preface provides a research overview of the topic, briefly summarizes the articles that constitute this issue, and focuses on overarching aspects and common challenges

Strain-driven elastic and orbital-ordering effects on thickness-dependent properties of manganite thin films

We report on the structural and magnetic characterization of (110) and (001) La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 (LCMO) epitaxial thin films simultaneously grown on (110) and (001)SrTiO3 substrates, with thicknesses t varying between 8 nm and 150 nm. It is found that while the in-plane interplanar distances of the (001) films are strongly clamped to those of the substrate and the films remain strained up to well above t=100 nm, the (110) films relax much earlier. Accurate determination of the in-plane and out-of-plane interplanar distances has allowed concluding that in all cases the unit cell volume of the manganite reduces gradually when increasing thickness, approaching the bulk value. It is observed that the magnetic properties (Curie temperature and saturation magnetization) of the (110) films are significantly improved compared to those of (001) films. These observations, combined with 55Mn-nuclear magnetic resonance data and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, signal that the depression of the magnetic properties of the more strained (001)LCMO films is not caused by an elastic deformation of the perovskite lattice but rather due to the electronic and chemical phase separation caused by the substrate-induced strain. On the contrary, the thickness dependence of the magnetic properties of the less strained (110)LCMO films are simply described by the elastic deformation of the manganite lattice. We will argue that the different behavior of (001) and (110)LCMO films is a consequence of the dissimilar electronic structure of these interfaces.Comment: 16 pages, 15 figure

Prambanan Temple has potential as a tourist attraction. The strategic location which have historical value, makes this Place became one tourist destination areas Klaten. Based on this, we need a Zone Map Economic Value Areas (ZNEK) to the Prambanan area of the palace to estimate the economic value and benefits based on willingness to pay (WTP) tourists and the people who benefit from the region. Sampling method (respondents) were used in this research is non probability sampling with accidental sampling technique, where respondents are those who by chance / accidental encountered in the study area and can be used as a sample, if it is considered that the person who happened to be found suitable as a data source. Data processing method used is multiple linear regression analysis and calculation software WTP using Maple 17.Results obtained from the study of this final project is the Economic Value Area Zone maps with the total value of economic attraction Prambanan Temple Rp.32.851.020.029.000,- Maps generated from the integration of economic and spatial aspects can be used as an objective consideration of the decision-making process in the spatial field and economic field for the government to optimize and simplify the process of the asset\u27s management and monitoring the natural resources potential. Besides being able to provide a solution for the management of resource constraints of the economy in various regions in Indonesia, the map can be used too as a learning tool for the public society to bring awareness of the importance of potential belonging

Effect of growth pressure on coalescence thickness and crystal quality of GaN deposited on 4H-SiC

Cataloged from PDF version of article. The influence of growth pressure on the coalescence thickness and the crystal quality of GaN deposited on 4H-SiC by low pressure metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy was studied. It was shown that growth pressure has an impact on the surface roughness of epilayers and their crystal quality. GaN coalescence thicknesses were determined for the investigated growth pressures. The GaN layers were characterized by AFM and HRXRD measurements. HEMT structures were also fabricated and characterized. Among the growth pressures studied, 50, 125 and 200 mbar, 200 mbar was found to be most suitable for GaN/SiC epitaxy. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved
