The circles of sexuality : promoting a strengths-based model within social work that provides a holistic framework for client sexual well-being
Social workers who work from a strengths-based perspective take advantage of a client’s innate capacity to rebound and recover. It is this person-centered practice approach that guides social workers to see their role as helping clients discover their own internal gifts and graces (Saleebey, 1992) potential, hopes, and dreams (Kisthardt, 1997; Saleebey, 1997). Since the emergence in 1982 from the University of Kansas, the strengths perspective has proven practice applications for a range of issues including spirituality (Canda & Furman 2010); substance use (Siegel et al., 1995), domestic violence (Bell, 2003), and mental health assessments (Francis, 2014) as well as with diverse populations such as children (Mendenhall, Grube & Jung, 2019); the elderly (Chapin & Cox, 2001), Muslims (Abdullah, 2015), partner violence victims (Song & Shih, 2010), and offenders (Lee, Uken, & Sebold, 2004). And while scholarship has looked at applications for the lesbian and gay community (Crisp & McCave, 2007; Dentato, Orwat, Spira & Walker, 2014; Craig, Dentato, & Iacovino, 2015; Craig & Furman, 2018), with the exception of a few scholars (Turner, 2012; 2016a; 2016b), not much research has discussed the intersection of the strength’s perspective and a holistic or general understanding of client sexual well-being
Dielectric Coating Thermal Stabilization During GaAs-Based Laser Fabrication for Improved Device Yield
The quality and yield of GaAs-based ridge waveguide devices fabricated at MIT Lincoln Laboratory were negatively impacted by the random lot-to-lot appearance of blisters in the front-side contact metal. The blisters signaled compromised adhesion between the front-side contact metal, underlying SiO2 dielectric coating, and semiconductor surface. A thermal-anneal procedure developed for the fabrication of GaAs slab coupled optical waveguide (SCOW) ridge waveguide devices stabilizes the SiO2 dielectric coating by means of outgassing and stress reduction. This process eliminates a primary source of adhesion loss, as well as blister generation, and thereby significantly improves device yield. Stoney’s equation was used to analyze stress-induced bow in device wafers fabricated using this stabilization procedure. This analysis suggests that changes in wafer bow contribute to the incidence of metal blisters in SCOW devices.United States. Air Force (Air Force Contract No. FA8721-05-C- 0002

Microscopic Model of Heteroepitaxy of GaAs on Si(100)
A new microscopic model of heteroepitaxial growth is introduced using GaAs on Si(100) as a prototype. This model takes into account specific features of surface topology, predicts that in the prototype system conventional two-dimensional epitaxy should be inhibited, and provides a fundamental explanation for three-dimensional nature of the initial stages of growth. The ingredients of the model, which are supported by total-energy calculations, include new structural geometries for each state of growth and the chemical and rehybridization reactions linking these stages.Engineering and Applied Science

Relativistic Broadening of Iron Emission Lines in a Sample of AGN
We present a uniform X-ray spectral analysis of eight type-1 active galactic
nuclei (AGN) that have been previously observed with relativistically broadened
iron emission lines. Utilizing data from the XMM-Newton European Photon Imaging
Camera (EPIC-pn) we carefully model the spectral continuum, taking complex
intrinsic absorption and emission into account. We then proceed to model the
broad Fe K feature in each source with two different accretion disk emission
line codes, as well as a self-consistent, ionized accretion disk spectrum
convolved with relativistic smearing from the inner disk. Comparing the
results, we show that relativistic blurring of the disk emission is required to
explain the spectrum in most sources, even when one models the full reflection

Structure and dynamics of iron pentacarbonyl
The dynamics of CO ligand scrambling in Fe(CO)5 has been investigated by linear infrared spectroscopy in supercritical xenon solution. The activation barrier for the Berry pseudorotation in Fe(CO)5 was determined experimentally to be Ea = 2.5 ± 0.4 kcal mol–1 by quantitative analysis of the temperature-dependent spectral line shape. This compares well with the range of Ea/(kcal mol–1) = 2.0 to 2.3 calculated by various DFT methods and the value of 1.6 ± 0.3 previously obtained from 2D IR measurements by Harris et al. ( Science 2008, 319, 1820). The involvement of Fe(CO)5···Xe interactions in the ligand scrambling process was tested computationally at the BP86-D3/AE2 level and found to be negligible
