Static potential in the SU(2) Higgs model
We present results for the static potential in the confinement phase of the
SU(2) Higgs model on the lattice. Introducing a suitable matrix correlation
function we observe string breaking at a distance r_b ~ 1.8 r_0, where the
length scale r_0 has a value r_0 ~ 0.5 fm in QCD. The method presented here may
lead the way towards a treatment of string breaking in QCD.Comment: LATTICE98(confine), 3 pages, 3 figure
Non-perturbative renormalization of the axial current with improved Wilson quarks
We present a new normalization condition for the axial current, which is
derived from the PCAC relation with non-vanishing mass.
Using this condition reduces the O(r_0 m) corrections to the axial current
normalization constant Z_A for an easier chiral extrapolation in the cases,
where simulations at zero quark-mass are not possible. The method described
here also serves as a preparation for a determination of Z_A in the full
two-flavor theory.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures, Lattice2003(improve
String breaking and lines of constant physics in the SU(2) Higgs model
We present results for the ground state and first excited state static
potentials in the confinement "phase" of the SU(2) Higgs model. String breaking
and the crossing of the energy levels are clearly visible. We address the
question of the cut-off effects in our results and observe a remarkable scaling
of the static potentials.Comment: LATTICE99(Higgs), 3 pages, 4 figure
Investigation of scaling properties of hysteresis in Finemet thin films
We study the behavior of hysteresis loops in Finemet
FeCuNbSiB thin films by using a fluxometric setup
based on a couple of well compensated pickup coils. The presence of scaling
laws of the hysteresis area is investigated as a function of the amplitude and
frequency of the applied field, considering sample thickness from about 20 nm
to 5 m. We do not observe any scaling predicted by theoretical models,
while dynamic loops show a logarithmic dependence on the frequency.Comment: 2 pages, 2 figure

A study of colour field distributions in the baryon
The distributions of chromo-electric and chromo-magnetic field associated
with flux tubes in the baryon are studied in SU(3) lattice QCD. Maximal Abelian
projection is used to reduce the statistical fluctuations. For a fixed source
geometry, many different string configurations are possible. We investigated
whether the string configuration, that is the choice of operator, biases the
observed flux distribution.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures, talk given at Lattice2003(topology
