A study is presented with Soret-Dufour, Hall and radiation effects on unsteady MHD flow of a viscous incompressible fluid past an inclined porous plate immersed in porous medium. The governing equations of non-dimensional forms of flow field were solved numerically using Crank-Nicolson implicit finite difference method. The results are obtained for velocity, temperature and concentration. The effects of various parameters are discussed on flow variables and are presented through graphs and tables. This research was supported by University Grant Commission of India.Publisher's Versio

Exploring the key behavioural, functional and strategic competencies in Indian management education

    Get PDF
Purpose: The study’s primary purpose is to identify the critical sustainable competencies and their importance in Indian management education perceived by the stakeholders. Research Methodology: The study adopted an explanatory research design and a standardised questionnaire to gather data from stakeholder groups. Results: The results suggest that the competency clusters considered necessary by the main stakeholder groups are behavioural, functional and strategic. Limitations: Broader perspective with more samples at various locations will add more value to the idea. Contribution: This paper aims to support both business and academia by recommending a positive collaborative process and building a workforce ready for work

Comments on the Refractive Index of Tin Sulphide Nano-crystalline Thin Films

The refractive indices of nano-crystalline thin films of Tin (IV) Sulphide (SnS) were investigated here. The experimental data conformed well with the single oscillator model for refractive indices. Based on the this, we explain the increasing trend of refractive index to the improvement in crystal ordering with increasing grain size.Comment: Nine figure

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to evaluate heart rate variability(HRV) in beta(β) thalassemia major(TM) patients receiving different therapeutic aids in a hospital based comparative observational study. A total of 56 confirmed beta thalassemia major patients in the age range 5-20 years ,taken from the day care center of S.M.S.Medical College,Hospital,Jaipur were examined and the grouping was done on the basis of receiving of regular/irregular blood transfusion along with regular/irregular or no iron chelation therapy. They had no symptoms and signs of cardiovascular disease as assessed clinically ,routine laboratory profile and echocardiography. All patients underwent recording of impedance peripheral pulse in the right forearm for five minutes. All frequency and time domain HRV parameters were found to be significantly reduced in patients receiving irregular/no iron chelation therapy along with regular/irregular blood transfusion. Therefore TM patients should receive regular iron chelation therapy along with regular blood transfusion so as to prevent/delay iron overload which may influence cardiac autonomic balance

Formulation and evaluation of matrix transdermal patches of meloxicam

The present study deals with the formulation and evaluation of transdermalpatches of meloxicam towards enhance its permeation through the skin and maintain the plasma levelconcentration. Transdermal patches were prepared by using polymers like Chitosan, HPMC 15cps and EC 20cpsat various concentrations by solvent casting technique employing dibutyl phthalate as plasticizer and isopropylmyristate as permeation enhancer. The transdermal patches were evaluated for their physico-chemical properties and in-vitro drug release. The transdermal patches were found to be transparent and smooth in texture. Amongthe formulations studied, at the end of 12th hour, the minimum and maximum in-vitro drug release was observedfor the formulations F12 and F4i.e. 80.012 ± 2.012 % and 98.365±3.012%. The mechanism of drugrelease was found to be Non-Fickian diffusion controlled. FT-IR studies revealed theintegrity of the drug in theformulations. A Naturally Generated Decoy of the Prostate Apoptosis Response-4 Protein Overcomes Therapy Resistance in Tumors

Primary tumors are often heterogeneous, composed of therapy-sensitive and emerging therapy-resistant cancer cells. Interestingly, treatment of therapy-sensitive tumors in heterogeneous tumor microenvironments results in apoptosis of therapy-resistant tumors. In this study, we identify a prostate apoptosis response-4 (Par-4) amino-terminal fragment (PAF) that is released by diverse therapy-sensitive cancer cells following therapy-induced caspase cleavage of the tumor suppressor Par-4 protein. PAF caused apoptosis in cancer cells resistant to therapy and inhibited tumor growth. A VASA segment of Par-4 mediated its binding and degradation by the ubiquitin ligase Fbxo45, resulting in loss of Par-4 proapoptotic function. Conversely, PAF, which contains this VASA segment, competitively bound to Fbxo45 and rescued Par-4–mediated induction of cancer cell–specific apoptosis. Collectively, our findings identify a molecular decoy naturally generated during apoptosis that inhibits a ubiquitin ligase to overcome therapy resistance in tumors
