Stochastic dynamics of microcavity polaritons
We study the time dependent polariton condensation as well as the parametric
scattering process of polaritons in a semiconductor microcavity. Based upon a
new stochastic scheme the dynamics for both cases is fully analyzed. We show
how the evolution of the system is described by a set of stochastic
differential Schrodinger equations which in average reproduces the exact
dynamics. Furthermore, we underline the role that Coulomb correlations plays in
the polariton dynamics. Threshold behaviors are well captured by the present
approach. The results are in complete agreement with recent experimental

Electromagnetic response of superconductors and optical sum rule
The interrelation between the condensation energy and the optical sum rules
has been investigated. It has been shown that the so called 'partial' sum rule
violation is related mainly to a temperature dependence of the relaxation rate
rather than to the appearance of superconductivity itself. Moreover, we
demonstrate that the experimental data on the temperature dependence of the
optical sum rule can be explained rather well by an account of strong

Impact de la pandémie de Covid-19 sur la santé et le développement des jeunes en Suisse - Quel rôle pour les médecins ? [Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent health and development: a role to play for physicians]
This article summarizes the conclusion of a two-days interprofessional online workshop held under the auspices of the Brocher Foundation. The objectives were to review the impact of COVID on adolescent health and development and to generate some key responses to the situation. The pandemic has severely affected the mental health of a large proportion of adolescents and has significantly reduced access to health care. It has as well disturbed the school education of vulnerable youngsters and decreased social contacts with adults and peers. In the future, authorities should better consider the rights of young people and request their opinion and participation in decision making. Physicians should systematically explore their young patients' opinions and queries regarding the COVID and address problematic situations such as family conflicts, misuse of internet or risky behaviour
Reflection and Ducting of Gravity Waves Inside the Sun
Internal gravity waves excited by overshoot at the bottom of the convection
zone can be influenced by rotation and by the strong toroidal magnetic field
that is likely to be present in the solar tachocline. Using a simple Cartesian
model, we show how waves with a vertical component of propagation can be
reflected when traveling through a layer containing a horizontal magnetic field
with a strength that varies with depth. This interaction can prevent a portion
of the downward-traveling wave energy flux from reaching the deep solar
interior. If a highly reflecting magnetized layer is located some distance
below the convection zone base, a duct or wave guide can be set up, wherein
vertical propagation is restricted by successive reflections at the upper and
lower boundaries. The presence of both upward- and downward-traveling
disturbances inside the duct leads to the existence of a set of horizontally
propagating modes that have significantly enhanced amplitudes. We point out
that the helical structure of these waves makes them capable of generating an
alpha-effect, and briefly consider the possibility that propagation in a shear
of sufficient strength could lead to instability, the result of wave growth due

Pharmacokinetics and Target Attainment of Ceftobiprole in Asian and Non-Asian Subjects
Ceftobiprole is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin. The objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that the pharmacokinetics (PK) and exposure of ceftobiprole in Asian subjects are similar to those in non-Asian subjects. Three approaches were followed. The first compared the individual PK estimates between the 2 subgroups derived from a population PK model previously built. Next, it was determined whether “Asian subject” was a significant covariate. Finally, a pharmacodynamic analysis was performed by comparing measures of exposure and target attainment. No significant differences were found between PK parameter estimates for Asian and non-Asian subjects, with median values (range) for clearance of 4.82 L/h (2.12–10.47) and 4.97 L/h (0.493–20.6), respectively (P =.736). “Asian subject” was not a significant covariate in the population PK model. There were no significant differences between the measures of exposure. The geometric mean ratio for the fAUC was 1.022 (90%CI, 0.91–1.15), indicating bioequivalence. Taking a target of 60% coverage of the dose interval, more than 90% of the population in both subgroups was adequately exposed. This analysis demonstrated that there are no PK or pharmacodynamic differences between Asian and non-Asian subjects for a ceftobiprole dose of 500 mg every 8 hours as a 2-hour infusion
Superconductivity in the SU(N) Anderson Lattice at U=\infty
We present a mean-field study of superconductivity in a generalized N-channel
cubic Anderson lattice at U=\infty taking into account the effect of a
nearest-neighbor attraction J. The condition U=\infty is implemented within the
slave-boson formalism considering the slave bosons to be condensed. We consider
the -level occupancy ranging from the mixed valence regime to the Kondo
limit and study the dependence of the critical temperature on the various model
parameters for each of three possible Cooper pairing symmetries (extended s,
d-wave and p-wave pairing) and find interesting crossovers. It is found that
the d- and p- wave order parameters have, in general, very similar critical
temperatures. The extended s-wave pairing seems to be relatively more stable
for electronic densities per channel close to one and for large values of the

Search for the exotic Resonance in 340GeV/c -Nucleus Interactions
We report on a high statistics search for the resonance in
-nucleus collisions at 340GeV/c. No evidence for this resonance is
found in our data sample which contains 676000 candidates above
background. For the decay channel and the
kinematic range 0.150.9 we find a 3 upper limit for the
production cross section of 3.1 and 3.5 b per nucleon for reactions with

Search for the glueball candidates f0(1500) and fJ(1710) in gamma gamma collisions
Data taken with the ALEPH detector at LEP1 have been used to search for gamma
gamma production of the glueball candidates f0(1500) and fJ(1710) via their
decay to pi+pi-. No signal is observed and upper limits to the product of gamma
gamma width and pi+pi- branching ratio of the f0(1500) and the fJ(1710) have
been measured to be Gamma_(gamma gamma -> f0(1500)). BR(f0(1500)->pi+pi-) <
0.31 keV and Gamma_(gamma gamma -> fJ(1710)). BR(fJ(1710)->pi+pi-) < 0.55 keV

Search for supersymmetry with a dominant R-parity violating LQDbar couplings in e+e- collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 130GeV to 172 GeV
A search for pair-production of supersymmetric particles under the assumption
that R-parity is violated via a dominant LQDbar coupling has been performed
using the data collected by ALEPH at centre-of-mass energies of 130-172 GeV.
The observed candidate events in the data are in agreement with the Standard
Model expectation. This result is translated into lower limits on the masses of
charginos, neutralinos, sleptons, sneutrinos and squarks. For instance, for
m_0=500 GeV/c^2 and tan(beta)=sqrt(2) charginos with masses smaller than 81
GeV/c^2 and neutralinos with masses smaller than 29 GeV/c^2 are excluded at the
95% confidence level for any generation structure of the LQDbar coupling.Comment: 32 pages, 30 figure
