L'estudi de la despesa de l'Administració local. Una perspectiva geogràfica

El desenvolupament de la geografia a Catalunya en relació amb l'estudi de l'Administració ha seguit una línia molt determinada. Més enllà de l'estricte estudi de la seva organització sobre el territori, l'autor apunta la necessitat que la relació entre geografia i Administració s'articuli en base a l'estudi de l'acció d'aquesta. En aquest sentit, l'aparició de l'obligatorietat que els municipis i altres ens locals especifiquin la seva despesa sota la fórmula de la classificació funcional d'ençà de 1992 obre la possibilitat que l'estudi de l'Administració local s'abordi des de la geografia humana de manera diferent.El estudio de la Administración desde la geografía ha seguido un camino muy particular en Cataluña, haciendo hincapié en el estudio de su organización territorial. El autor apunta la necesidad de superar este enfoque tradicional. Desde 1992 existe la obligatoriedad por parte de los entes locales de especificar la clasificación funcional de su gasto. De esta manera, se abre la puerta al estudio de la acción de la Administración local sobre el territorio, lo que supone un nuevo enfoque en su estudio desde la geografía humana.L'étude de l'Admnistration publique a été traitée en Catalogne par la géographie humaine sous l'optique de I'organisation territoriale. L'auteur met en question cette façon d'aborder la relation entre géographie et Administration et i1 propose une nouvelle articulation qui doit être basée sur l'étude des résultats de son action sur le territoire. Il faut faire attention à son action plus qu'à son organisation. L'obligation de déclarer les dépenses de chaque gouvernement local en relation avec les différentes fonctions gouvernementales existait depuis 1992, cela peut avoir une grande utilité dans le champ des études sur l'action des administrations locales en géographie humaine.In Catalonia, the study of Public Adrninistration from the perspective of Human Geography has traditionally focused on its territorial organization. Multi-modal joint embedding for fashion product retrieval

Everyday, e-commerce sites are updating with thousands of images and their associated metadata (textual information), deepening the problem, akin to finding a needle in a haystack. In this paper, we leverage both the images and textual meta-data and propose a joint multi-modal embedding that maps both the text and images into a common latent space. Distances in the latent space correspond to similarity between products, allowing us to effectively perform retrieval in this latent space, which is both efficient and accurate. We train this embedding using large-scale real world e-commerce data by both minimizing the similarity between related products and using auxiliary classification networks to that encourage the embedding to have semantic meaning. We compare against existing approaches and show significant improvements in retrieval tasks on a large-scale e-commerce dataset. Cooperative Learning Environments: Virtual Communities of Practice in the Healthcare Sector

This paper aims to examine the benefits the use of virtual communities of practice (VCOP) provides to professionals in the healthcare field. Conceptually communities of practice (CoP) are supported by the Theory of Situated Learning, which highlights the importance of the professional environment and interaction with colleagues in the development of a practical learning.In some professional areas, this way of creating and sharing knowledge has become a common practice. The intensive use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) makes possible the origin of VCOP. With them, the process of collaborative knowledge construction is faster, more efficient and participatory. Also, the set of benefits from the use of VCoP is wide and diversified, reaching all the members of the community, both on a personal and general level -, as well as the organizations - where the members of the community develop their professional activities-. Both at management and performance levels

Interactividad didáctica y museos

Los cambios que han afectado y afectan a la sociedad postindustrial actual tienen su eco en la manera según la cual se entiende el papel y contenido de los museos entendidos como elementos culturales relevantes. En el presente trabajo se repasa el papel que la interactividad tiene dentro de este tipo de equipamientos. Para ello, se procede a mostrar el desarrollo que la museografía interactiva ha tenido desde sus inicios hasta nuestros días, así como las críticas que desde las más diversas corrientes ha sufrido. Seguidamente se exponen las líneas de razonamiento básicas para analizar la aplicación de este tipo de museografía, desde el punto de vista de la investigación y el aprendizaje. Finalmente, se debate la importancia de elementos lúdicos y tecnológicos de las propuestas interactivas dentro del panorama museístico actual.Post-industrial society has been influenced by a myriad of changes that, at the same time, have affected the way museums are seen and used in the role they play as relevant cultural resources. This work analyses the importance of interactivity inside this type of element. To begin with, it shows the development of interactive museography from its beginnings to nowadays, as well as the criticisms that it has suffered, from different sources. The paper defines the lines of reasoning that need to be considered in order to study the application of this type of museography, focusing on tasks related to research and learning. La batalla de l'Ebre. Complexitat i co-evolució

Sovint la batalla de l'Ebre s'ha presentat com la darrera batalla de la Primera Guerra Mundial i, a la vegada, com la primera batalla de la Segona Guerra Mundial, hom a considerat que quelcom va evolucionar entre l'inici i el final de la batalla. Sense dubte en la confrontació de l'Ebre es van experimentar les més diverses variables: tècniques, tecnològiques, organitzatives, culturals... per tal d'assolir condicions de victòria. L'article analitza, des d'una òptica evolutiva, com en la dinàmica generada en el mateix camp de batalla, i en un context de complexitat, determinades opcions es van seleccionar i es van imposar a altres possibles. La batalla esdevingué el gran assaig del què seria la nova i gran confrontació europea, un conflicte en el qual armes com l'aviació i els blindats assolirien un nou protagonisme tot generant noves línies de cultura militar

Cet article passe en revue les differents thbmes traités lors du Congrés des Etudiants de Géographie qui s'est tenu a Toulouse au mois de Novembre de 1991. Le Congrés a été consacré au debat de probltmes epistemologiques de la géographie, mais aussi a des thèmes qui affectent directement les étudiants comme ceux de la formation des géographes et des actuels débouchés professionnels.This article reviews the different issues covered in the Geography Students Congress held in Toulouse in November 1991. The Congress focused on epistemology problems in Geography but also on problems directly affecting the student body such as the education of geographers and current professional opportunities.El articulo comenta los diferentes contenidos tratados en el Congreso de Estudiantes de Geografia, celebrado en Toulouse en noviembre de 1991. Un congreso dedicado al debate y a la discusión tanto de los problemas epistemológicos de la geografia como de la problemática de los estudiantes, al contenido de la formación y a las salidas profesionales actuales.L'article fa un repàs dels diferents continguts tractats en el Congrés d'Estudiants de Geografia, celebrat a Tolosa de Llenguadoc el novembre de 1991. Our approach is based on a Convolutional Neural Network and learns a joint embedding of object proposals and textual metadata to predict the main product in the image. We additionally use several complementary classification and overlap losses in order to improve training stability and performance. Our tests on a large-scale dataset taken from eight e-commerce sites show that our approach outperforms strong baselines and is able to accurately detect the main product in a wide diversity of challenging fashion images.Peer ReviewedAward-winningPostprint (author's final draft
