Probing the ZZgamma and Zgammagamma Couplings Through the Process e+e- --> nu anti-nu gamma
We study the sensitivity for testing the anomalous triple gauge couplings
and via the process
at high energy linear colliders. For integrated luminosities of 500
and center of mass energies between 0.5 and 1.5 , we find that this
process can provide tests of the triple neutral gauge boson couplings of order
, one order of magnitude lower than the standard model prediction.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure
Management of wet age-related macular degeneration in Spain: challenges for treat and extend implementation in routine clinical practice
Age-related macular degeneration; Ophthalmology services; Anti-VEGFDegeneración macular relacionada con la edad; Servicios de oftalmología; Anti-VEGFDegeneració macular relacionada amb l’edat; Serveis d’oftalmologia; Anti-VEGFPurpose. To ascertain wet AMD (wAMD) management patterns in Spain. Methods. A two-round Delphi study conducted through a questionnaire-based survey designed from literature review and validated by an independent Steering Committee. Results. Forty-nine retina specialists experienced in wAMD participated by answering the two-round study questionnaire. Retina specialists are the main responsible for wAMD diagnosis and monitoring, including visits and associated procedures, with a median time per visit of 15 minutes. Standard treatment strategies are based on anti-VEGF administration, including standard loading dose administration followed by maintenance with aflibercept or ranibizumab (81% of patients). Although treat and extend (T&E) dosing strategy is considered as optimal for wAMD management (78% of the panelists), the main routine healthcare limitations (i.e., visits overload, reduced staff, short visit time, coordination issues, lack of facilities) conduct to self-defined “flexible” strategies, based on T&E and pro-re-nata (PRN) protocols. Conclusion. Proactive treatment patterns (T&E) are the preferred ones by the retina specialists in Spain. However, their proper implementation is difficult due to healthcare resource limitations, as well as organisation and logistic issues. The use of anti-VEGF agents with longer duration of action could facilitate the use of strict T&E approaches according to routine clinical practices
A search for pre- and proto-brown dwarfs in the dark cloud Barnard 30 with ALMA
In this work we present ALMA continuum observations at 880 m of 30
sub-mm cores previously identified with APEX/LABOCA at 870m in the Barnard
30 cloud. The main goal is to characterize the youngest and lowest mass
population in the cloud. As a result, we report the detection of five (out of
30) spatially unresolved sources with ALMA, with estimated masses between 0.9
and 67 M. From these five sources, only two show gas emission. The
analysis of multi-wavelength photometry from these two objects, namely B30-LB14
and B30-LB19, is consistent with one Class II- and one Class I low-mass stellar
object, respectively. The gas emission is consistent with a rotating disk in
the case of B30-LB14, and with an oblate rotating envelope with infall
signatures in the case of LB19. The remaining three ALMA detections do not have
infrared counterparts and can be classified as either deeply embedded objects
or as starless cores if B30 members. In the former case, two of them (LB08 and
LB31) show internal luminosity upper limits consistent with Very Low Luminosity
objects, while we do not have enough information for LB10. In the starless core
scenario, and taking into account the estimated masses from ALMA and the
APEX/LABOCA cores, we estimate final masses for the central objects in the
substellar domain, so they could be classified as pre-BD core candidates.Comment: Published in A&
Limits on the Dipole Moments of the -Lepton via the Process $e^{+}e^{-}\to \tau^+ \tau^- \gamma in a Left-Right Symmetric Model
Limits on the anomalous magnetic moment and the electric dipole moment of the
lepton are calculated through the reaction at the -pole and in the framework of a left-right symmetric model.
The results are based on the recent data reported by the L3 Collaboration at
CERN LEP. Due to the stringent limit of the model mixing angle , the
effect of this angle on the dipole moments is quite small.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figure
Fuzzy Controller for Automatic Steering in Heavy Vehicle Semi-Trailers
AbstractTrucks with semi-trailers are widely used for transportation of goods due their low operation cost, but inherent to these vehicles are some problems such as a poor maneuverability. To minimize the effects of this disadvantage, among other solutions, the incorporation of steerable axles in the semitrailers has been proposed. This paper presents a steering equation, and a fuzzy-logic controller for a semi-trailer automatic forced-steering system to minimize the off-tracking and the total swept path width, resulting in an improvement of vehicle's maneuverability at low speeds. To accomplish this, the suggested control algorithm considers the articulation angle and parameters such as vehicle speed and direction. The system was tested on an instrumented experimental semi-trailer during various predetermined test maneuvers
Impact exercise strategies in the HRQOL of the sedentary adults
obtuvo valores superiores en salud mental, no siendo así en salud físicaThe aim of the study was to analyze the effectiveness of different intervention
strategies of exercise and relate the perception of quality of life related to health
(HRQOL) in sedentary older adults. It involved 100 subjects, aged between 60
and 70, who were randomly divided into four groups: control, recommend,
prescribe and monitor. The exercise intervention lasted 6 months. The SF-36
questionnaire was used for the assessment of HRQOL. The monitoring and
prescription groups had higher values in all domains in the intragroup analysis.
Physical function and health and mental health obtain the highest significant
values between groups (p <.05). There are no significant differences at all in
any domain among prescription and monitoring groups. However, the
monitoring group obtained higher values in mental health, but were not in
physical healt
Classification of uterine anomalies by three-dimensional ultrasonography using ESHRE/ESGE criteria: inter-observer variability.
Objective: To evaluate the interobserver repeatability of the coronal view measurements and classification of the uterine malformations (UM) according to the ESHRE/ESGE consensus by transvaginal three-dimensional ultrasound (3D US).
Methods: 89 transvaginal 3D volumes acquired during the last two years at Delta Ecografía in Madrid, Spain, were selected from our archive by convenience sampling. Two expert operators blinded from each other, performed post-hoc analysis using render mode and multiplanar-VCI navigation. Uterine wall thickness at the fundus, indentation of the cavity and indentation of the fundus were measured, classified and sub-classified following the recommendations of the ESHRE/ESGE consensus. The reproducibility of interobserver measurements and classification was examined by calculating intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and their 95% confidence intervals (CI) and kappa statistic (k).pre-print261 K
