Towards True Process Descriptions Interoperability

The article describes a part of our research in the area of (business) process modeling, analysis and execution. It describes the current state of process languages and standards. It concentrates on the process model interoperability and portability problems, caused because of huge number of process modeling standards, which often do not even target the same conceptual level of process modeling. It provides an idea how to bring together those standards, using process concepts mapping into Petri nets and incorporating the usage of process patterns. Transformation to strictly formal process languages has a potential to prove itself as a fair solution with the following advantages: the number of mappings among different process languages is reduced and the process model can be analyzed using proven Petri Net or general graph algorithms. Development of the approach is still in its early phase. Mapping rules to/from process patterns are neither strictly defined nor trivial, therefore, they will be the main focus of our future research

Multiculturalism – bridge that connects librareis

Poslanje je Pučke knjižnice i čitaonice Daruvar približiti informacije, znanje i kulturu svim korisnicima bez obzira na njihovu dob, nacionalnu pripadnost, vjersko ili političko opredjeljenje, odgovoriti na zahtjeve korisnika stručno utemeljenim uslugama pomoću suvremene tehnologije. Vezano uz multikulturalnost zajednice u kojoj Knjižnica djeluje, nastojali smo manjinskom stanovništvu približiti jezik i kulturu njihovih matičnih zemalja. Posljednje dvije godine intenzivno razvijamo programe i iskustva sa sestrinskom knjižnicom u Češkom Tešinu (Češka Republika) i Narodnom i univerzitetskom bibliotekom “Derviš Sušić” Tuzla u Bosni i Hercegovini. Cilj djelovanja Knjižnice je nastojati razvijati interkulturalnu komunikaciju kako bismo čitanje i pisanu riječ približili svim skupinama korisnika.The Mission of the Public Library Daruvar is to provide information, knowledge and culture to all its users regardless of their age, nationality, religion or political orientation, and to fulfill users’ requests using modern technology if necessary. Since our local community is multicultural, the Daruvar Public Library has been working on bringing together the minorities and their native languages and cultures. For the past two years, we have developed intensive programs and have shared our experiences with our sister library in Czech Republic and the National and University Library “Derviš Sušić” in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The main goal of the Daruvar Public Library is to continue developing intercultural communication in order to bring reading closer to different groups of library users

Rezultati pilot-istraživanja o potrebama i očekivanjima knjižničara od Društva knjižničara Bilogore, Podravine i Kalničkog prigorja

Rad donosi pregled i analizu rezultata pilot-istraživanja Društva knjižničara Bilogore, Podravine i Kalničkog prigorja o potrebama i očekivanjima knjižničara od ovoga društva – regionalne udruge knjižničara koja ima četrdesetogodišnju tradiciju (osnovana je 1977. godine) te djeluje na području tri županije: Bjelovarsko-bilogorske, Koprivničko-križevačke i Virovitičko-podravske. Društvo trenutno okuplja 115 članova iz 66 školskih, narodnih i specijalnih knjižnica, a u anketnom ispitivanju sudjelovalo je 77 knjižničara s područja djelovanja Društva neovisno o statusu članstva. Ciljevi pilot-istraživanja bili su saznati potrebe i očekivanja članova i nečlanova od Društva, približiti aktivnosti Društva njihovim interesima i potrebama te potaknuti knjižniča re na učlanjivanje u Društvo. Istraživanjem su detektirana problematična područja u radu ovog regionalnog društva knjižničara te su dobivene smjernice za učinkovitije i produktivnije djelovanje

Frequenza di contaminazione delle mezzene suine e bovine con gli enterobatteri (Escherichia coli i Salmonella spp.) nel processo di macellazione

Sažetak Istraživana je učestalost onečišćenja goveđih i svinjskih trupova (n=200) enterobakterijama (Escherichia coli i Salmonella spp.) u velikoj klaonici u Republici Hrvatskoj. Salmonella vrste nisu utvrđene u brisovima s trupova goveda i svinja, dok je 4% trupova go- veda i svinja bilo onečišćeno bakterijom E. coli. Provedenim istraživanjem je utvrđeno da je učinkovitost postupaka u dokazivanju onečišćenja vrlo dobra i pruža visoku zaštitu potrošača. Jednako tako dokazana je visoka učinkovitost propisanog mikrobiološkog monitoringa u rutinskom higijenskom programu u klaonici.The frequency of contamination of bovine and pig carcasses (n=200) by enterobacteria (Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp.) was researched in a large abattoir in the Republic of Croatia. Salmonella species were not determined in smears from bovine and pig carcasses, whereas 4% of bovine and pig carcasses were contaminated by E. coli bacteria. The conducted research determined that efficiency of procedures in proving contamination is very good and it provides high protection of consumers. Also, a high efficiency of the proscribed microbiological monitoring was proved in a routine hygienic program in the abattoir.Zusammenfassung Es wurde die Häufigkeit der Verunreinigungen von Schweine- und Rindhälfen (n=200) mit Enterobakterien (Escherichia colli und Salmonella spp.) im großen Schlachthof in der Republik Kroatien untersucht. Salmonella-Sorten wurden nicht in den Proben von Schweine- und Rindfleischmustern vorgefunden, während 4 % Schweine- und Rindkadaver mit Bakterie Escherichia colli verunreinigt wurden. Die durchgeführten Unersuchungen haben gezeigt, dass die Wirksamkeit des Verfahrens hinsichtlich der Beweise für Verun- reingungen einen sehr guten und hohen Schutz der Verbraucher bedeutet. Genauso wurde die hohe Wirksamkeit des vorgeschriebe- nen mikrobiologischen Monitorings im hygienischen Routineprogramm im Schlachthof bewiesen.Sommario Questo studio ha esaminato la frequenza di contaminazione di mezzene suine e bovine (n=200) con gli enterobatteri (Escherichia coli e Salmonella spp.) in una grande macelleria nella Repubblica di Croazia. I batteri tipo Salmonella non sono stati scoperti nei campioni presi dagli addomi suini e bovini, e il 4% di addomi bovini e suini era contaminato con il batterio E. coli. In questa ricerca è stata determinata un\u27alta efficienza di processi di prova di contaminazione che offre un\u27ottima protezione ai consumatori. Allo stesso tempo ci sono delle prove d\u27efficienza del monitoraggio microbiologico nel programma d\u27igiene durante il processo di macellazione

How Can We Advance Integrative Biology Research in Animal Science in 21st Century?:Experience at University of Ljubljana from 2002 to 2022

In this perspective analysis, we strive to answer the following question: how can we advance integrative biology research in the 21st century with lessons from animal science? At the University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty, Department of Animal Science, we share here our three lessons learned in the two decades from 2002 to 2022 that we believe could inform integrative biology, systems science, and animal science scholarship in other countries and geographies. Cultivating multiomics knowledge through a conceptual lens of integrative biology is crucial for life sciences research that can stand the test of diverse biological, clinical, and ecological contexts. Moreover, in an era of the current COVID-19 pandemic, animal nutrition and animal science, and the study of their interactions with human health (and vice versa) through integrative biology approaches hold enormous prospects and significance for systems medicine and ecosystem health

Coulomb dissociation of O-16 into He-4 and C-12

We measured the Coulomb dissociation of O-16 into He-4 and C-12 within the FAIR Phase-0 program at GSI Helmholtzzentrum fur Schwerionenforschung Darmstadt, Germany. From this we will extract the photon dissociation cross section O-16(alpha,gamma)C-12, which is the time reversed reaction to C-12(alpha,gamma)O-16. With this indirect method, we aim to improve on the accuracy of the experimental data at lower energies than measured so far. The expected low cross section for the Coulomb dissociation reaction and close magnetic rigidity of beam and fragments demand a high precision measurement. Hence, new detector systems were built and radical changes to the (RB)-B-3 setup were necessary to cope with the high-intensity O-16 beam. Lessons from remarkable fintech companies for the financial inclusion in Peru

Financial inclusion, defined as the adequate access and usage of formal financial services to improve people’s lives, is a crucial area for the economic development of a country through its various angles. This paper analyzes the impact of selected FinTech companies on financial inclusion in their respective countries to obtain lessons of their business models and country environments that can help Peruvian financial inclusion. The selected FinTechs are M-PESA in Kenya, Nubank in Brazil, GCASH in the Philippines, and Easypaisa in Pakistan, which revolutionized the financial sector in their respective countries. However, a comparative study of their impact on financial inclusion in their respective country has not been conducted yettherefore, the lessons obtained are helpful for the Peruvian situation due to their practical implications and because they raise possible areas for further and deeper research. The approach of this study considered a qualitative and quantitative method (to find a Pearson correlation between the percentage of the population of Country (A) that are users of FinTech (a) and the six selected demand-side indicators per country retrieved from the Global Findex Database) analysis to understand the results obtained. The results obtained indicate that M-PESA and GCASH, companies specialized in providing basic mobile money transactions such as remittances and withdrawals, did not impact the provision of other financial services such as savings or credit cards. In Easypaisa’s case, this company positively impacts the studied indicators, probably due to its original partnership with a microfinance institution. Regarding Nubank, despite its remarkable growth in the last years, the company does not affect financial inclusion in Brazil yet. Nonetheless, after its recent expansion to provide more financial services, future research could assess the impact of this company on Brazilian financial inclusion
