Advantages of using user experience design concepts in the creation of e-learning courses
Trabalho de Projeto de Mestrado, Educação (Área de Especialidade em Educação e Tecnologias Digitais), Universidade de Lisboa, Instituto de Educação, 2021This work focuses on the advantages of the application of User Experience Design concepts
in the creation of e-learning courses showing how Instructional Designers can benefit from
its application to improve the learning experience by following some of the rules and
conventions for good website design. It starts by covering the definition of the term User
Experience Design providing background information about the authors who have
popularised the term, explaining its association with Usability, going through the advantages
of applying it to e-learning courses, and ending with a practical application of the concepts.
The practical component of the work lays on the assessment of a course to identify the
elements that can be improved following the User Experience Design concepts found in the
literature review and the application of those same concepts to a makeover of the original
course that then allows the comparison of the two versions. Several elements in the original
version were identified as needing improvement: blank space, lack of visual elements,
navigation, clickable items, placement of the logo, responsiveness to different screens, and
aesthetics.
The course makeover was built using the authoring software Articulate Storyline that allowed
the development of a version that promotes a better experience to the learner by reallocating
some items, enhancing fonts and buttons, making it adjustable to different screen types, and
modernising its layout.
This work tries to prove that Instructional Designers can certainly benefit from applying User
Experience Design concepts to help them identify some issues that otherwise could not be
easily detected by simply following Instructional Design models.
websites.
ambas as versões.
responsividade do conteúdo a diferentes ecrãs e estética geral.
do layout.

DG was financed by a PhD grant: DFA/BD/5529/2020.Protein haze in white wine is one of the most common non-microbial defects of commercial wines, with bentonite being the main solution utilized by the winemaking industry to tackle this problem. Bentonite presents some serious disadvantages, and several alternatives have been pro-posed. Here, an alternative based on a new cellulose derivative (dicarboxymethyl cellulose, DCMC) is proposed. To determine the efficiency of DCMC as a bentonite alternative, three monovarietal wines were characterized, and their protein instability and content determined by a heat stability test (HST) and the Bradford method, respectively. The wines were treated with DCMC to achieve stable wines, as shown by the HST, and the efficacy of the treatments was assessed by determining, before and after treatment, the wine content in protein, phenolic compounds, sodium, calcium, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as well as the wine pH. DCMC applied at dosages such as those commonly employed for bentonite was able to reduce the protein content in all tested wines and to stabilize all but the Moscatel de Setúbal varietal wine. In general, DCMC was shown to induce lower changes in the wine pH and phenolic content than bentonite, reducing the wine calcium content. Regarding which VOCs are concerned, DCMC produced a general impact similar to that of bentonite, with differences depending on wine variety. The results obtained suggest that DCMC can be a sustainable alternative to bentonite in protein white wine stabilization.publishersversionpublishe
The expected trend of decreasing feed-in tariffs in the upcoming years meets the current necessity to secure a more sustainable and autonomous electric power grid, capable of integrating more renewable energy resources. This trend turns self-consumption particularly relevant for prosumers (consumers that own small distributed generation units), namely at the household and small industry levels. With the growing advances in stationary storage technologies, reflected utmost at their economic viability, stationary batteries along with electric vehicles are viewed as one of the best solutions to maximize such self-consumption levels of prosumers.Today's storage controllers, used on the management of charging and discharging these batteries present a reactive and immediate response. It can although be more interesting, for a prosumer, that such controllers could present a more predictive action, i.e., capable of understanding how consumption and production profiles will evolve, in order to maximize the self-consumption. If we also consider the prosumer to be involved in a market dynamic pricing scheme, the controller should also behave opportunistically, taking into account the market prices so that the energy requirements made to grid would be deviated to time windows were prices were cheaper. This problem can be mathematically framed on the definitions of multi-objective and multi-temporal. Associating the elevated number of state variables and the error possibilities inherent to the data's forecasting nature makes this problem extremely complex, narrowing its resolution to techniques based on artificial intelligence. In the present work, the capability of artificial intelligence techniques in predictively controlling stationary storage when coupled with photovoltaic generation units, is evaluated. Namely it is used the Proximal Policy Gradient method, made available by OpenAI and inserted in the category of Deep Reinforcement Learning which combine neural networks with the training of artificial intelligence agents through Reinforcement Learning. The comparison with genetic algorithms is made in order to infer the viability of this methodology in the resolutions of the problem at hand
projecto. The work I am presenting is about a tail panel creation. The main purpose of its
creation is to be hanging up on a school wall. The tail panel it is based on visual arts
practise. The work have been developed from the project “Discovering our roots”. The
mains themes that have been developed on this project were roots, origins and identity.
Moreover, the main focus on working on this project was different cultures, which were
held on class, school and its main context. The project was under Paint & Sculpture
subject. It was developed from a Project Methodology and its different tasks. In
addition, the communication model was also used to secure the students to the subject,
to the project, prevent violence into the classroom and give attention to
multiculturalism , which defines this class. The project was developed in fifteen sessions
which each session has ninety minutes. Moreover, the project was held on classroom
specialized for its practise. All sessions were based on art practise, which combine a
logic attitude into the referent and a sensitive approach. This approach was meant not
just to help students to understand art content but also worked on student’s self-knowledge
and self-esteem . Furthermore, the final goal of “Discovering our roots”
project also helped me as a teacher in my understanding of teaching theory and practise
