Se estudia los ingresos y gastos de la Biblioteca del Real Colegio de Cirugía de Cádiz hasta la creación de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas (1748-1844). La reconstrucción de la gestión de las cuentas de la Biblioteca se ha realizado a través del análisis de los documentos manuscritos de la época, tanto de los libros de actas como los de cuentas.The account of the Library of the Royal College of Surgery of Cádiz is studied, until the creation of the Faculty of Medical Sciences (1748-1844). The Library of Francisco Antonio Zea in the Real Colegio de Medicina y Cirugía Cádiz

La Biblioteca privada del Botánico Francisco Antonio Zea se inventarió e integró en la del Real Colegio de Medicina y Cirugía de Cádiz entre los años de 1808 y 1810 como resultado del decomiso de sus bienes por ser acusado de afrancesado. Se trata de una colección de libros de corte ilustrado, cuyo tema principal es la Botánica, que su propietario utilizó para sus estudios e investigaciones sobre la flora. Los ejemplares incluidos están en línea con las bibliotecas donde inició su formación, como la de José Celestino Mutis y José Cavanilles. Parte de estos fondos se conservan en la Biblioteca de la Universidad de Cádiz.The private library of the botanist Francisco Antonio Zea was integrated and inventoried into the Library of the Real Colegio de Medicina y Cirugía de Cádiz, between 1808 and 1810, as a result of the confiscation of his property after being accused of being influenced by the French "afrancesado". It is a collection of illusttrated books, whose main theme is the Botany, that its owner used for his studies and research on flora. The copies that are included are in line with the libraries where he began his training, such as José Celestino Mutis and José Cavanilles. Part of these books are kept in the library of the University of Cádiz

Visibilidad de las colecciones patrimoniales de la Universidad de Cádiz en el catálogo Koha

La Universidad de Cádiz cuenta con un relevante patrimonio bibliográfico y documental. Hemos realizado un proyecto para darle mayor visibilidad a través del catálogo. Se han establecido los siguientes objetivos: Definir y crear las colecciones de los fondos patrimoniales; revisar la descripción bibliográfica; Incorporar imágenes y textos. Basándonos en el formato de la RDA hemos enriquecido los registros bibliográficos con las etiquetas preceptivas para los fondos antiguos y especiales. Esto ha posibilitado que actualmente en el catálogo de la Universidad de Cádiz se puedan consultar el contenido de 19 colecciones de distintas materias con un valor añadido para los investigadores

Papel de la familia en los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria

Los trastornos de la conducta alimentaría son enfermedades mentales caracterizadas por la alteración de la ingesta alimentaría y el control del peso. Trastornos cuyos principales afectados son el núcleo de convivencia del enfermo, ya que implica en muchas ocasiones cambios en el funcionamiento del sistema familiar, además de sufrir rechazo por parte de la persona enferma. Es necesario destacar que aunque la familia sea la principal sufridora también es una pieza fundamental en la recuperación del paciente. Por ello, se pretende realizar un estudio para conocer el papel de la familia en trastornos de la conducta alimentaria

Baseline residual kidney function and its ensuing rate of decline interact to predict mortality of peritoneal dialysis patients

Background Baseline residual kidney function (RKF) and its rate of decline during follow-up are purported to be reliable outcome predictors of patients undergoing Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). The independent contribution of each of these factors has not been elucidated. Method We report a multicenter, longitudinal study of 493 patients incident on PD and satisfying two conditions: a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) 1 mL/minute and a daily diuresis 300 mL. The main variables were the GFR (mean of urea and creatinine clearances) at PD inception and the GFR rate of decline during follow-up. The main outcome variable was patient mortality. The secondary outcome variables were: PD technique failure and risk of peritoneal infection. The statistical analysis was based on a multivariate approach, placing an emphasis on the interactions between the two main study variables

La formación humanista del profesional. Una mirada desde el componente económico en la Cultura Física en Cuba (Original)

The investigation is framed in the professional humanist formation of the Physical Culture, with the objective to achieve the treatment of the economic component for its improvement, what requires of the theoretical methodological preparation  of teachers, starting from interdisciplinary relation and the potentialities of the contents that allow its contextualization, what behaves in an insufficient way, taking into account  it was necessary to carry out a theoretical foundation of the process, a valuation of the humanist formation of the professional of the Physical Culture and of the place and importance of the economic component in it, identifying their regularities. The diagnosis allowed the current state of the teachers and students in this context national and international researches have been taking into account with the objective to elaborate a methodology content of the interdisciplinary logic integration that allows the pedagogical treatment of the economic component from the acting context of the different disciplines and subjects of the third year of this career. Final result that helps the formative integrity of the professional, so as improving ideas and quality.La investigación se enmarca en la formación humanista del profesional de la Cultura Física, con el objetivo de lograr el tratamiento pedagógico del componente económico para su perfeccionamiento, aspectos que requieren de la preparación teórico - metodológica de los docentes, a partir de relaciones interdisciplinarias y las potencialidades de los contenidos que permiten su contextualización, lo cual se comporta de manera insuficiente. En tal sentido fue necesario realizar la fundamentación teórica del proceso, una valoración de la formación humanista del profesional de la Cultura Física y del lugar y papel del componente económico en ella, identificando sus regularidades. El diagnóstico  permitió determinar el estado actual  de los docentes  y estudiantes en relación con el tema que se aborda. Se tienen en cuenta las valoraciones de investigadores nacionales e internacionales; con este propósito se elabora  una metodología contentiva de la lógica de integración interdisciplinaria que permite desde el contexto actuante de las diferentes disciplinas y asignaturas del tercer año de la carrera, el tratamiento pedagógico del componente económico, resultado que favorece la integralidad formativa del profesional, así como su pertinencia y calidad

Compared decline of residual kidney function in patients treated with automated peritoneal dialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis: a multicenter study

[Abstract] BACKGROUND: There is controversy concerning the compared rates of decline of residual kidney function (RKF) in patients treated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and automated peritoneal dialysis (APD). OBJECTIVES AND METHOD: Following an observational, multicenter design, we studied 493 patients initiating peritoneal dialysis (PD) in four different Spanish units. We explored the effect of the PD modality on the rate of decline of RKF and the probability of anuria during follow-up. We applied logistic regression for intention-to-treat analyses, and linear mixed models to explore time-dependent variables, excluding those affected by indication bias. MAIN RESULTS: Patients started on APD were younger and less comorbid than those initiated on CAPD. Baseline RKF was similar in both groups (p = 0.50). Eighty-seven patients changed their PD modality during follow-up. The following variables predicted a faster decline of RKF: higher (rate of decline) or lower (anuria) baseline RKF, younger age, proteinuria, nonprimary PD, use of PD solutions rich in glucose degradation products, higher blood pressure, and suffering peritonitis or cardiovascular events during follow-up. Overall, APD was not associated with a fast decline of RKF, but stratified analysis disclosed that patients with lower baseline RKF had an increased risk for this outcome when treated with this technique (HR: 2.26, 95% CI: 1.09-4.82, p = 0.023). Moreover, the probability of anuria during follow-up was overtly higher in APD patients (HR: 3.22, 95% CI: 1.25-6.69, p = 0.002). CONCLUSIONS: Starting PD patients directly on APD is associated with a faster decline of RKF and a higher risk of developing anuria than doing so on CAPD. This detrimental effect is more marked in patients initiating PD with lower levels of RKF

Ultrasonography of Optic Nerve Sheath Diameter in Healthy Volunteers

Foundation: ultrasonography of the diameter of the optic nerve sheath has been used as a non-invasive measure of intracranial pressure. One of the deficiencies stated is the non-existence of a standard value that suggests the limit between normality and intracranial hypertension. Objective: determine the diameter of the optic nerve sheath using ultrasound in healthy volunteers. Methods: a multi-population ecological study was conducted on 160 healthy volunteers who met the inclusion criteria. Three ultrasonographic measurements were performed in B mode in each eye, the average was taken as the final value. The variables studied were: age, sex, skin color and diameter of the optic nerve sheath. The percentage, mean, median, limit and standard were calculated. With a reference value at the 95 % confidence interval. The relationship between the variables was determined by simple logistic regression analysis with the SPSS 22.0 statistical package. Results: that diameter of the optic nerve sheath, in the subjects, was quantified between 4.62-4.80 mm and 4.66-4.83 mm for the right and left eyes respectively. In the simple linear regression analysis, only sex was associated with the value of the diameter of the optic nerve sheath (p= 0.000). Conclusions: in a population of healthy volunteers, the value of the diameter of the optic nerve sheath was similar to other descriptions, with differences between sex, which suggests taking this variable into consideration when making the measurement
