CP, T and CPT versus temporal asymmetries for entangled states of the B-d-system

    Get PDF
The observables used in the K-system to characterize T and CPT violation are no longer useful for the Bd-system, since the width difference between the physical states is vanishingly small. We show that only Im(epsilon) and Re(delta) can survive if Delta Gamma=0, and build alternative CP-odd, CPT-odd, T-odd and temporal asymmetries for the (B_CP -> B0, B0bar) transitions. These quantities enable us to test T and CPT invariances of the effective Hamiltonian for the B-system. The method needs the CP eigenstates B_CP, which can be tagged unambiguously to order lambda^3 from the entangled states of a B-factory

Walking Toward the Demonumentalization of Qualitative Research: A Collaborative Autoethnography Account While Producing an Educational Podcast

    Get PDF
This article examines how two teacher educators, as researchers and as research teachers, engaged in a collaborative interpretation of their autoethnographies about questioning an instrumentalist and positivist research culture in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT). The autoethnographies simultaneously emerged from the research activities related to the production of a bilingual podcast named “Conversing about Investigación Cualitativa.” Specifically, the authors conducted a qualitative study of autoethnographic and collaborative nature while working on their podcast. The data were individual written retrospective accounts, which were shared, discussed, and interpreted in online live meetings. The outcomes of the study were encapsulated in a major theme called Qualitative research: The path traveled from dogma to critical awareness, and three subsidiary themes named Questioning the culture of scientificity from our research experiences; Adopting a critical perspective (but still teaching by the book); and Empowering ourselves as teachers and as research teachers. Overall, this study emphasized a questioning attitude toward building a critical perspective from which examine alternatives to demonumentalize qualitative research without falling into extremes. Thus, it contributes to finding a balance between dogma and skepticism through a dialogue between local and global research agendas

Quality label and geographical indications as a business strategy: the case of ‘Brandy de Jerez’ from a PR perspective

    Get PDF
Used to make reference to the food industry products that are identified by different characteristics and own derived from their geographical origin, adding public perception thereof, strict controls and regulations development and a specific legal framework. In this sense, geographical indications play an important role in business management from a communication perspective, a fundamental role in the management of PR in this study conducted a study of the ‘Consejo Regulador’ of the protected geographical indication ‘Brandy de Jerez’ (Sherry) through the case study combined with other investigative techniques such as interviews, direct observation and consultation of secondary data sources. We believe, therefore, from the twenty annual reports to the ‘Consejo Regulador de la indicación geográfica protegia del Brandy de Jerez’ issued from 1989 to 2008, the relationship between the IGP quality label and management of PR companies and products that fall under the umbrella protection

Design of an interactive module based on the van hiele model: case study of the Pythagorean Theorem

    Get PDF
The recent increase in the number of mathematics museums has given rise to a need for tools with which to design and assess mathematics educational proposals in this non-formal context. This study proposes the use of the van Hiele model, a benchmark in mathematics instruction, for the design of interactive museum models focusing on mathematics content in general. By way of example, the model is characterised for application to the Pythagorean theorem. An interactive module designed around the aforementioned characterisation for teaching the theorem at the Museo Didáctico e Interactivo de Ciencias [interactive science instruction museum, MUDIC] may serve as a reference for future interactive modules and workshops in museums dealing with any manner of mathematics content

The present work has as main objective to analyze both the general and special rules to establish that in Colombian private law there is a place for the "essential breach" as a requirement for the origin of the action sought by one of the contracting parties against the breach of the other, of compliance with the regulation of the resolution action that enshrines article 1546 of the Civil Code and 870 of the Commercial Code in Colombia, focusing the analysis under study, mainly in the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court of Justice, without neglecting the doctrine and the current legislation. It is a type of dogmatic research based on national legislation, doctrine and jurisprudence and the uniform law of contracts.

Tucumanin, a β-hydroxy-γ-lactone bistetrahydrofuranic acetogenin from Annona cherimolia, is a potent inhibitor of mitochondrial complex I

A new β-hydroxy-γ-methyl-γ-lactone bistetrahydrofuranic acetogenin, tucumanin, with the infrequent symmetrical threo/trans/threo/trans/ threo relative configuration at the tetrahydrofuran rings was isolated from Annona cherimolia (Annonaceae) seeds. The inhibitory potency on the mitochondrial complex I of acetogenins with this relative configuration (tucumanin and asimicin) was compared with that shown by the corresponding pairs with an asymmetrical threo/trans/threo/trans/erythro relative configuration (laherradurin/rolliniastatin-2, and itrabin/molvizarin). All these compounds act as selective inhibitors of mitochondrial complex 1 in the 0.18 - 1.55 nM range.Fil: Barrachina, Isabel. Universidad de Valencia; EspañaFil: Neske, Adriana. Madrid food banck: 20 years working on volunteering project in favor of needed people

The debate around Food Banks has reactivated at international level, especially in moments of economic crisis. Nevertheless, few scientific papers have focused on analysing the success factors of their management as institutions that work through projects, neither on estimating their social impacts. This paper aims to analyse the Madrid Food Bank which has more than 20 years of learning process based on the ?Working With People ?(WWP) model, which integrates experienced and expert knowledge of the project stakeholders as well as analysing various projects that have been carried out: Great Food Collection, Kilo Operations, Awareness journeys, etc. Results show success in their project management and therefore in the effects generated on the population since its foundation in 1994. During the last years, the creation of new University-Company bonds such as the Food Bank Chair has allowed the expansion of the scope of its actions and projects. The generation of trust in society, its organizational structure and its human capital are the key elements of the achievements of the Food Banks, managing to reach up to 172.400 people and 546 institutions over the past year

Bayesian Inference in Auditing with Partial Prior Information Using Maximum Entropy Priors

    Get PDF
Problems in statistical auditing are usually one–sided. In fact, the main interest for auditors is to determine the quantiles of the total amount of error, and then to compare these quantiles with a given materiality fixed by the auditor, so that the accounting statement can be accepted or rejected. Dollar unit sampling (DUS) is a useful procedure to collect sample information, whereby items are chosen with a probability proportional to book amounts and in which the relevant error amount distribution is the distribution of the taints weighted by the book value. The likelihood induced by DUS refers to a 201–variate parameter p but the prior information is in a subparameter q linear function of p, representing the total amount of error. This means that partial prior information must be processed. In this paper, two main proposals are made: (1) to modify the likelihood, to make it compatible with prior information and thus obtain a Bayesian analysis for hypotheses to be tested; (2) to use a maximum entropy prior to incorporate limited auditor information. To achieve these goals, we obtain a modified likelihood function inspired by the induced likelihood described by Zehna (1966) and then adapt the Bayes’ theorem to this likelihood in order to derive a posterior distribution for q. This approach shows that the DUS methodology can be justified as a natural method of processing partial prior information in auditing and that a Bayesian analysis can be performed even when prior information is only available for a subparameter of the model. Finally, some numerical examples are presented. This research was partially funded by MINECO, Spain (grant number EC02017–85577–P)
