The Heterogeneity of Disruptive Behavior Disorders – Implications for Neurobiological Research and Treatment

    Get PDF
Disruptive behavior disorders (DBDs) are reflected by a great variety of symptoms ranging from impulsive-hot-tempered quarrels to purposeful and goal-directed acts of cruelty. A growing body of data indicates that there are neurobiological factors that increase the risk for developing DBDs. In this review, we give a broad overview of recent studies investigating physiological, neural, genetic factors, and specific neurotransmitter systems. We also discuss the impact of psychosocial risk and consider the effects of gene-environment interactions. Due to the heterogeneity of DBDs, it is concluded that specific subtypes of disruptive behavior should be considered both in terms their biological basis and in regard to specific treatment needs

Lower bounds for self-adjoint Sturm-Liouville operators

The numerical range and the quadratic numerical range is used to study the spectrum of a class of block operator matrices. We show that the approximate point spectrum is contained in the closure of the quadratic numerical range. In particular, the spectral enclosures yield a spectral gap. It is shown that these spectral bounds are tighter than classical numerical range bounds

Proposed criteria for the assessment of the bag of cross-section of the borehole is completely filled elongated explosive charge. Criteria considered from the point of view of the ability to influence the result of the explosive impact and can be used to create and justify the constructions of the drilling tool. The analysis of geometrical forms of cross sections of the explosive borehole in the form of correct figures have shown that there is a relationship of the considered criteria, however, a specific value can be determined for the existing designs of drilling tools

A novel clade of sporocarp-forming species of glomeromycotan fungi in the Diversisporales lineage

In the early times of taxonomy of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (Glomeromycota), exclusively sporocarpic species were described. Since then the focus has mainly shifted to species forming spores singly. For many of the sporocarpic species, no molecular data have been made available, and their phylogenetic position has remained unclear. We obtained small subunit ribosomal rDNA and internal transcribed spacer data from specimens of glomeromycotan sporocarps from tropical areas that were assigned to three morphospecies. The complete sequence of the 18S small rDNA subunit sequence, internal transcribed spacers (ITS) 1 and 2 and 5.8S rDNA subunit, was determined from a sporocarp of Glomus fulvum. Partial sequences of the small subunit and the other regions were obtained from Glomus pulvinatum and the newly described species Glomus megalocarpum. Molecular phylogenetic analyses placed all species analyzed as a monophyletic sister group to the Diversispora spurca/Glomus versiforme clade group ("Glomus group C”) within the Diversisporales. The phylogenetic divergence from other known species suggests that this clade may constitute a new genus. These findings will have important consequences for taxon definition in the Diversisporales. They will facilitate identification of these fungi using rDNA sequences within colonized roots or the environmen

Process optimized minimally invasive total hip replacement

The purpose of this study was to analyse a new concept of using the the minimally invasive direct anterior approach (DAA) in total hip replacement (THR) in combination with the leg positioner (Rotex- Table) and a modified retractor system (Condor). We evaluated retrospectively the first 100 primary THR operated with the new concept between 2009 and 2010, regarding operation data, radiological and clinical outcome (HOOS). All surgeries were perfomed in a standardized operation technique including navigation. The average age of the patients was 68 years (37 to 92 years), with a mean BMI of 26.5 (17 to 43). The mean time of surgery was 80 min. (55 to 130 min). The blood loss showed an average of 511.5 mL (200 to 1000 mL). No intra-operative complications occurred. The postoperative complication rate was 6%. The HOOS increased from 43 points pre-operatively to 90 (max 100 points) 3 months after surgery. The radiological analysis showed an average cup inclination of 43° and a leg length discrepancy in a range of +/− 5 mm in 99%. The presented technique led to excellent clinic results, showed low complication rates and allowed correct implant positions although manpower was saved

Digital Quantum Simulation, Trotter Errors, and Quantum Chaos of the Kicked Top

    Get PDF
This work aims at giving Trotter errors in digital quantum simulation (DQS) of collective spin systems an interpretation in terms of quantum chaos of the kicked top. In particular, for DQS of such systems, regular dynamics of the kicked top ensures convergence of the Trotterized time evolution, while chaos in the top, which sets in above a sharp threshold value of the Trotter step size, corresponds to the proliferation of Trotter errors. We show the possibility to analyze this phenomenology in a wide variety of experimental realizations of the kicked top, ranging from single atomic spins to trapped-ion quantum simulators which implement DQS of all-to-all interacting spin-1/2 systems. These platforms thus enable in-depth studies of Trotter errors and their relation to signatures of quantum chaos, including the growth of out-of-time-ordered correlators.Comment: 20 pages, 6 figure
