Comprendiendo un poco más el azar, la probabilidad y la estadística

El siguiente Trabajo Fin de Máster aborda el estudio del azar, la probabilidad y la estadística a través de un conjunto de análisis, propuestas y reflexiones referentes al proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Cuestiones como: “¿qué es la Ley de los Grandes Números?” o “¿qué significa las medidas de posición?”, por ejemplo, son algunas cuestiones e ideas que a menudo se pasan por alto al enseñar estos conceptos en la Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO) y Bachillerato. El objetivo principal de este TFM es promover una comprensión más profunda sobre estas cuestiones, fomentando la reflexión sobre los fundamentos teóricos y su aplicación práctica en el aula. Para ello, se propone el desarrollo de una propuesta didáctica con la realización de actividades didácticas sencillas y el uso de software apropiado, ilustrando ideas fundamentales, explorando cuestiones como las mencionadas anteriormente, tratando de mejorar la experiencia de aprendizaje de los estudiantes y fortaleciendo sus habilidades en el curso de 2º de la ESO. Finalmente, se concluye el trabajo con el análisis de la experiencia y los resultados obtenidos con la puesta en práctica de una parte de la propuesta didáctica. Estos me han permitido observar la importancia de un cambio en la enseñanza de la Probabilidad y Estadística hacia un enfoque más significativo, reflexionando sobre algunas cuestiones y orientando la aplicación práctica de estos conceptos.The following Master’s Final Project tackles the study of randomness, probability, and statistics through a set of analyses, proposals, and reflections related to the teaching-learning process. Questions such as "What is the Law of Large Numbers?" or "What do measures of position signify?" are some of the issues and ideas that are often overlooked when teaching these concepts in Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate. The main objective of this Master’s Final Project is to promote a deeper understanding of these issues, fostering reflection on the theoretical foundations and their practical application in the classroom. To achieve this, the development of a didactic approach is proposed, including the implementation of simple teaching activities and the use of appropriate software. The aim is to illustrate fundamental ideas, explore questions like those mentioned above, enhance students' learning experiences, and strengthen their skills in the 2nd year of High School. Finally, this Project concludes with the analysis of the experience and the results obtained from the implementation of a part of the didactic proposal. Athlete’s philanthropy and social responsibility communication on social media during COVID-19

As the world feels the impact of the coronavirus, the role of sport and philanthropy has merged as a venue for generating social impact and providing relief to those in need. This research focuses on the social responsibility and philanthropic mobilization of professional athletes to address urgent social needs during the COVID-19 crisis. In particular, the study focuses on the role that social media plays in the communication of these socially responsible activities developed by professional athletes. This study examined how the various ways that athletes are giving back and the messaging strategies related to the impact of COVID-19. By doing that, the authors identified three key areas: Awareness Raising and Advocacy; Calls to Action and Engagement; Information Sharing and Communication. Other relevant insights into philanthropic and social responsibility strategies and approaches were identified (e.g., direct giving, fundraising, awareness raising, mobilizing networks, or information sharing). The paper also discusses the potential responses and outcomes garnered by communicating these efforts and offers insights into how professional athletes can maximize their social impact around the world during crisis during crises such as the COVID-19

La comunicación y el sostenimiento de la acción colectiva

Este trabajo es un estudio de caso acerca de una acción colectiva que ha perdurado durante más de veinte años hasta la actualidad y que ha sido sostenida exitosamente por la participación activa y comprometida de un grupo de más de cien familias vecinas de una villa de emergencia, quienes fueron los encargados de crear los lazos necesarios para que el acto colectivo transformador no se quebrara. Por tanto, este artículo va a abordar esta experiencia a partir de tres ejes fundamentales: las interpretaciones sobre el sostenimiento de las acciones colectivas, el rol de la comunicación como herramienta utilizada por los sectores populares para fortalecer los procesos colectivos de transformación y el nuevo rol del Estado en la sociedad. Esta acción comunitaria fue desarrollada por un grupo de personas que fueron afectadas por las políticas económicas argentinas de los últimos 30 años, las cuales han devastado a los sectores más empobrecidos del país y ampliaron la brecha entre ricos y pobres a límites impensados. El Estado se vació y ha dejado de ofrecer soluciones a los sectores más vulnerables. Attitudes toward sexual diversity in sport among undergraduate students of physical activity and sport sciences in Spain

Producción CientíficaSexual diversity in the world of sport has not been widely researched in the Spanish context. Studies on national and international sexual diversity tend to leave out transgender issues and intersexuality. The new framework of action of the International Olympic Committee in 2021 advocates for integration and non-discrimination based on gender identity and sex variations in sport. We analyzed attitudes toward sexual diversity in sport among a sample of PASS university students using the Scale of Attitudes Toward Sexual Diversity Among Athletes and the statistical package R. Each item was subjected to frequency analysis and the results were displayed in contingency tables. The sample comprised 610 students from three Spanish universities (68.85% male and 31.15% female, with a mean age of 21.72 years; SD = 4.12). Of the four factors analyzed, the lowest levels of rejection were Cognitive Attitudes (96.72%) and Attitudes Toward Transgression (86.89%). Ontogenetic differences in muscle fatty acid profile of white sharks Carcharodon carcharias off Guadalupe Island, México

Carcharodon carcharias is a protected species occupying the apex of most marine foodwebs where they are present. Aggregation areas, such as Guadalupe Island, México,  that have been related to feeding events, are of special interest for this species conservation. The aim of this study was to describe the fatty acid profile of C. carcharias' muscle for the first time on Guadalupe Island, using non-lethal biopsy methods to determine ontogenetic and sex differences in relation to diet and habitat use. Fatty acid profiles and biomarkers from different individuals are explored as a source of integrated information of their diet. Analysis of the fatty acid composition of individuals with varying total lengths (2.3-5.0 m) suggested a dietary shift between juveniles and adults occurring at aproximately 3 m. Fatty acid biomarkers indicated a higher degree of carnivorism in adults than in juveniles. Additionally, these ecological tracers suggested that juveniles feed in shallow waters close to the coast, while adults feed in deep waters along inshore and offshore areas. This study represents a first step towards using fatty acid composition as a relevant tool for further understanding dietary shifts and habitat use throughout the ontogeny of C. carcharias. However, to corroborate this, further studies with larger sample sizes are required

A descriptive analysis of the sport, health, and psychological characteristics of at-risk youth in Guatemala

Guatemala is a country with a long history of conflict, poverty and violence that still affects young people. However, their exist non-governmental organizations such as Guatemalan Olympic Foundation (FUNOG) whose purpose is imparting sport and Olympic values as educational principles of the institution. The aim of this study is to describe the sport, health, and psychological characteristics of the youth who participate in this organization. The research’s objectives were accomplished through a quantitative methodology and the involvement of 91 participants. Results emphasised the participants’ elevated levels of physical activity exceeded those of other youth of same ages. No link was found between the level of physical activity and other personal or health variables. Age was negatively correlated with factors pertaining to meaning in life but not with dialectics. A correlation was found between self-esteem and goals, tasks, and empathy, but health literacy was negatively correlated with interpersonal relationships. These data incentivise us to design and evaluate sport programmes not only as an educational strategy to promote health literacy and social-emotional skills, but also to improve the perception of the purpose of life

Juego lúdico para el aprendizaje de niños con discapacidades

Teniendo en cuenta el nivel de aprendizaje de los niños con discapacidad, es de gran importancia implementar y estimular nuevos tipos de aprendizajes para ellos como: aprendizaje explícito, significativo y cooperativo, para que puedan desarrollar sus conocimientos, a través de distintas formas de juegos, para que ellos puedan aprender, de manera que se desenvuelvan en un ambiente recreativo y así poder conocer que dificultades tiene cada uno de ellos para realizar el tipo de juegos lúdicos, físicos y mentales. El tipo de juegos lúdicos fue escogido ya que a través de ellos los niños pueden enriquecer su conocimiento de forma dinámica y virtual, dando como resultado un proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje efectivo

The risk of eating disorders in adolescent athletes: how we might address this phenomenon?

Eating disorders are psychiatric and behavioral health pathologies of high complexity and different etiology, which can affect age groups, sexes, and ethnicities indistinctly. This study aimed to evaluate the risk of eating disorders and the possible relation with the sports profile of Colombian adolescent athletes. This was an exploratory cross-sectional quantitative study that used an online form designed with a sociodemographic questionnaire and the EAT-26 scale to determine the eating disorder risk of the object population. A total of 354 adolescent athletes participated. There were 182 men and 172 women and the mean age was 15.59 (range: 10–19 years, SD = 1.938). The participants presented a significantly low risk of eating disorders (21.2%) with no differences in prevalence between both sexes. The risk of eating disorder was related to the result of the last competition (p = 0.01), the type of sport (p = 0.032), the years of sports practice (p = 0.004), and the number of training hours a day (p = 0.011). It is relevant to recognize that adolescents and athletes are vulnerable populations regarding eating disorders. In conclusion, adolescent athletes should be the object of special attention to prevent eating disorders and their consequences on health and sports performance

El seguro de infidelidad y riesgos financieros dentro del contexto jurídico colombiano : un análisis crítico de la noción de descubrimiento y la carga de probar la intención de generar un detrimento patrimonial y la ganancia financiera indebida del empleado

Uno de los grandes retos que tienen las empresas a nivel nacional e internacional es proteger su patrimonio, el cual se puede ver en riesgo ante las amenazas u ocurrencias de actos deshonestos o fraudulentos de empleados que implican la disminución o pérdida, ya sea parcial o total, del patrimonio social. Así las cosas, el seguro de infidelidad y riesgos financieros se ha convertido en un mecanismo que pretende brindar la protección de ciertos riesgos asegurables, otorgando un amparo que se convierte en respaldo para las empresas a la hora de la materialización de estos riesgos, resarciendo un detrimento patrimonial que afecta considerablemente el erario de la sociedad. Cabe mencionar que si bien este seguro es de daños y tiene dentro de sus finalidades brindar una protección patrimonial de la sociedad e indemnizar a la empresa en caso de la materialización de la infidelidad de un empleado, se pueden tener algunos retos y controversias relacionadas con algunas categorías fundamentales bajo las cuales opera este tipo de seguro, tales como la noción de descubrimiento y la carga probatoria por parte del asegurado de demostrar la intención del subordinado de generar un detrimento patrimonial, así como la de exhibir la ganancia financiera personal indebida de aquel, lo que a la postre puede impedir que la sociedad asegurada obtenga una indemnización efectiva. En este orden de ideas, esta investigación cualitativa busca examinar la comprensión que, dentro del seguro de infidelidad y riesgos financieros, se ha dado a las categorías antes mencionadas, y para ello se fundamenta en fuentes como normatividad vigente, jurisprudencia, laudos arbitrales, doctrina, artículos jurídicos. Con estos insumos, se busca realizar un análisis crítico del seguro de infidelidad y riesgos financieros, señalando las principales características de este, identificando algunos de los retos a los que se podrían enfrentar los tomadores del seguro, para finalmente proponer unas reflexiones sobre la adecuada interpretación y aplicación de estas categorías
