Literary tradition in Malaysia middle/high school from the very beginning to the era of Literary Component in Malay language (Komsas) plays a big role in shaping the intellectuality of student’s mindset. It is carried out by introducing novels around the Archipelago that corresponds to time and issues, without leaving the main theme of universal humanity. These themes have not changed. That is the purpose of literature subjects being introduced in school. Since the 70s, students in Malaysia have been exposed to Indonesian ’heavy’ novels such as Di bawah Lindungan Kaabah by HAMKA, Salah Asuhan by Abdul Moeis, followed by Atheis by Achdiat Karta Mihardja and Keluarga Gerilya by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and poems by Amir Hamzah and Chairil Anwar All the novels, poems and short stories reveal the valuable aspect and their impact in forming the student’s mind. Just take an example of the novel Atheist that features the soul of a traditionalist Islamist to face all modern ideologies that arose post Second World War. Or take another example of a patriotic struggle by characters like Saaman from Amila’s family in Keluarga Gerilya. These are the serious issues that we could learn by reading Indonesia literary works by a few great writers. Therefore, Indonesian literature has played an important role in Malaysia as a medium of peace and harmony.   Keywords: peace, harmony, universal humanit

The Mediation Effect of Trusting Beliefs on the Relationship Between Expectation-Confirmation and Satisfaction with the Usage of Online Product Recommendation

Online Product Recommendations (OPRs) are increasingly available to onlinecustomers as a value-added self-service in evaluating and choosing a product.Research has highlighted several advantages that customers can gain from usingOPRs. However, the realization of these advantages depends on whether and towhat extent customers embrace and fully utilise them. The relatively low OPR USAgerate indicates that customers have not yet developed trust in OPRs’ performance.Past studies also have established that satisfaction is a valid measure of systemperformance and a consistent significant determinant of users’ continuous systemusage. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the mediation effect of trustingbeliefs on the relationship between expectation-confirmation and satisfaction. Theproposed research model is tested using data collected via an online survey from626 existing users of OPRs. The empirical results revealed that social-psychologicalbeliefs (perceived confirmation and trust) are significant contributors to customersatisfaction with OPRs. Additionally, trusting beliefs partially mediate the impactof perceived confirmation on customer satisfaction. Moreover, this study validatesthe extensions of the interpersonal trust construct to trust in OPRs and examinesthe nomological validity of trust in terms of competence, benevolence, andintegrity. The findings provide a number of theoretical and practical implications.&nbsp

[Abstract]: The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis software was used to study the flow behaviour of compressed natural gas (CNG) and air in a CNG-air mixer to be introduced through the air inlet of a CNG-Diesel dual fuel stationary engine. The results of the simulation show that the Venturi mixer with more holes gives superior engine performance compared to the 4-hole Venturi mixer. Further analysis is done on the different holes mixer to investigate the effect of engine speed on the mass flow rate of CNG and the equivalence ratio Lambda. The second part of the paper represents a comparison results between the performances of a single cylinder research Compression Ignition CI engine fuelled with CNG-diesel system and conventional CI engine fuelled by conventional diesel. The engine was equipped with the simulated Venturi mixer, the result showed significant reduction in the exhaust gas emission compared to the conventional diesel engine. The average power output generated by dual fuel engine was slightly higher than that diesel one at different engine speeds

Corrosion study of pipeline material for seabed sediment in tropical climate

Corrosive environments such as marine sediments can cause corrosion to steel pipelines at any time when certain conditions are met. Seabed sediment could cause severe corrosion damage due to its corrosiveness to the pipelines buried under it. Many consequences could take place in case if there is incident in oil/gas pipelines. Successfully identifying elements of corrosion in marine sediment would enhance the future of steel structure protection and monitoring systems. This article focuses on the behaviour of corrosion rate of steel located near shore environment and the aim is to determine the effect of sediment on corrosion of steel. To investigate that, simulated near shore sediment conditions have been used where the steel coupons buried in sediments which have different characteristics. Weight loss technique has been implemented to determine the weight loss rate of the steel specimens. Based on the results of this study, metal weight loss increases as the duration of exposure to seabed sediment environment become longer. The sea sediment simulated condition has given significant levels of corrosion. Conclusively, the corrosion rate of steel in seabed sediment located in tropical region is complicated and further studies are suggested

Coordination of Foliar and Wood Anatomical Traits Contributes to Tropical Tree Distributions and Productivity along the Malay-Thai Peninsula

Drought is a critical factor in plant species distributions. Much research points to its relevance even in moist tropical regions. Recent studies have begun to elucidate mechanisms underlying the distributions of tropical tree species with respect to drought; however, how such desiccation tolerance mechanisms correspond with the coordination of hydraulic and photosynthetic traits in determining species distributions with respect to rainfall seasonality deserves attention. In the present study, we used a common garden approach to quantify inherent differences in wood anatomical and foliar physiological traits in 21 tropical tree species with either widespread (occupying both seasonal and aseasonal climates) or southern (restricted to aseasonal forests) distributions with respect to rainfall seasonality. Use of congeneric species pairs and phylogenetically independent contrast analyses allowed examination of this question in a phylogenetic framework. Widespread species opted for wood traits that provide biomechanical support and prevent xylem cavitation and showed associated reductions in canopy productivity and consequently growth rates compared with southern species. These data support the hypothesis that species having broader distributions with respect to climatic variability will be characterized by traits conducive to abiotic stress tolerance. This study highlights the importance of the well-established performance vs. stress tolerance trade-off as a contributor to species distributions at larger scales

This study aims to empirically analyze the factors that influence management in manipulating real activities. The research design is a quantitative method using secondary data. The sample used in this study are 88 companies. Sample selection criteria used are manufacturing companies that have been included in the category of suspect companies during the period 2012-2016. The results of this study indicate that audit quality and managerial ownership have a significant positive effect on real activity manipulation, while the size of the audit committee, the proportion of independent commissioners, and institutional ownership have no influence on real activity manipulation. Limitations in this study is the use of real activity manipulation as the only dependent variable, so that further research can add other theoretical variables that can influence the practice of earnings management through manipulation of real activities, such as voluntary disclosures conducted by companies including CSR. The implication of this study, in running business operations does not focus primarily on current income or the achievement of profit targets to be achieved by manipulating real activities
