Correctly Modeling TX and RX Chain in (Distributed) Massive MIMO -- New Fundamental Insights on Coherency

This letter shows that the TX and RX models commonly used in literature for downlink (distributed) massive MIMO are inaccurate, leading also to inaccurate conclusions. In particular, the Local Oscillator (LO) effect should be modeled as $+\varphi$ in the transmitter chain and $-\varphi$ in the receiver chain, i.e., different signs. A common misconception in literature is to use the same sign for both chains. By correctly modeling TX and RX chain, one realizes that the LO phases are included in the reciprocity calibration and whenever the LO phases drift apart, a new reciprocity calibration becomes necessary (the same applies to time drifts). Thus, free-running LOs and the commonly made assumption of perfect reciprocity calibration (to enable blind DL channel estimation) are both not that useful, as they would require too much calibration overhead. Instead, the LOs at the base stations should be locked and relative reciprocity calibration in combination with downlink demodulation reference symbols should be employed

Low-PAPR DFRC MIMO-OFDM Waveform Design for Integrated Sensing and Communications

In this paper, we explore a multiple-input multiple- output (MIMO) system with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmissions and study the low peak- to-average power ratio (PAPR) MIMO-OFDM waveform design for integrated sensing and communications (ISAC). This is done by leveraging a weighted objective function on both communication and radar performance metrics under power and PAPR constraints. The formulated optimization problem can be equivalently transformed into several sub-problems which can be parallelly solved by the semi-definite relaxation (SDR) method and the optimal rank-1 solution can be obtained in general. The feasibility, effectiveness, and flexibility of the proposed low-PAPR MIMO-OFDM waveform design method are demonstrated by a range of simulations on communication sum rate, symbol error rate as well as radar beampattern and detection probability

Direito subjetivo e abuso de direito : breve contribuição para uma re-visão crítica

Trata-se de instituto ,cujas raízes datam do início do século XIX, surgido como reação ao Direito Subjetivo absoluto consagrado,em especial, pelo Código de Napoleão. Verifica-se,portanto,que existe uma estreita ligação entre o Direito Subjetivo e o Abuso de Direito,muito embora,defenda-se a autonomia entre ambos. As primeiras manifestações contrárias aos atos abusivos foram verificadas na jurisprudência francesa. Com o tempo,entretanto, a doutrina passou a elaborar algumas construções teóricas que condenavam,de forma mais generalizante,as condutas abusivas. O Abuso de Direito vai conquistando espaço como importante instrumento de combate aos comportamentos que,não obstante serem aparentemente lícitos,acabavam sendo essencialmente contrários ao direito. No Direito Civil brasileiro a proibição do ato abusivo é resultado ,em especial,da interpretação a contrario sensu do artigo 160, I do Código Civil. Trata-se de instituto ainda pouco explorado,se consideradas as suas possibilidades. Der Sechs-Minuten-Gehtest zur Beurteilung der körperlichen Leistungsfähigkeit von Kindern und Jugendlichen mit pulmonaler Hypertension

Diese Studie untersucht die Eignung eines Sechs-Minuten-Gehtests für Kinder mit pulmonaler Hypertension (p. H.). Nach Referenzwerterhebung an gesunden Probanden wurde der Gehtest bei 13 p.-H.-Patienten durchgeführt. Kinder mit p. H. erreichten durchschnittlich 416 ±115m, die Probanden 714±70m. Bei den Gesunden korrelierte die Gehstrecke unter anderem signifikant mit Größe, Gewicht und Alter, bei den Patienten mit Sauerstoffsättigung, Hypertrophie des rechten Ventrikels und dem NYHA-Stadium. Der Gehtest ist zur Diagnostik und Verlaufskontrolle bei p.-H.-Patienten sehr gut geeignet.This study investigates the suitability of a six-minute walk test for children with pulmonary Hypertension (p. H.). After collecting reference values on healthy test persons the walk test was performed by 13 p. - H. - patients. Children with p. H. reached 416 ±115m on average, the test persons 714±70m. Among the healthy test persons the walking distance correlated, among other things, significantly with height, weight and age, among the patients it correlated with oxygen saturation, hypertrophy of the right ventricle and the NYHA stage. The walk test proofs very suitable for the diagnostics and process control with p. - H. - patients

From Public Assistance Institutions to ‘Sunshine Hotels’: Changing State perceptions about residential care for elderly people, 1939-48

This article traces the development of residential care for elderly people in the period 1939 to 1948. It begins by looking at the nature of such institutions in the period just prior to the Second World War and then discusses the complex impact of war upon such provision. Particular attention is paid to how evacuation hostels, run by local authorities and voluntary organisations, changed notions about the role of the State in the care of elderly people. The paper concludes by looking at how such changed notions were incorporated into the 1948 National Assistance Act. © 1983, Cambridge University Press. All rights reserved
