Diamond Synthesis Employing Nanoparticle Seeds

Iron nanoparticles were employed to induce the synthesis of diamond on molybdenum, silicon, and quartz substrates. Diamond films were grown using conventional conditions for diamond synthesis by hot filament chemical vapor deposition, except that dispersed iron oxide nanoparticles replaced the seeding. This approach to diamond induction can be combined with dip pen nanolithography for the selective deposition of diamond and diamond patterning while avoiding surface damage associated to diamond-seeding methods

Puentes y pasajes textuales en Como el aire de abril de Arturo Echavarría

This article propases an intertextual analysis of Arturo Echavarría's self reflexive crime novel Como el aire de abril (1994) that takes in to consideration the writer's own analysis of Borges's "El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan" as a guideline. Thus, we see how Echavarría creates a writer protagonist incapable of overcoming in his own life the political circumstances of repression and censorship of Puerto Rico in the forties and fifties, or of confronting in the seventies the perpetrator of a crime he witnessed during the Korean War. Instead, he compensates for his deficiencies by recreating himself in a novel as a heroic double (in love and politics) of the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, himself a double of Dante's Paolo Malatesta. Ironically, his writing the novel leads to his kidnapping and death by his captors, as well as to the kidnapping of a former student who investigates his disappearance.Este artículo propone el análisis intertextual de la novela criminal autorreflexiva Como el aire de abril (1994) de Arturo Echavarría guiándose por el análisis que el mismo Echavarría realiza del relato de Borges "El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan". De ahí que veamos cómo Echavarría crea un escritor protagonista desvalido ante las circunstancias de represión y censura política en el Puerto Rico de los cuarenta y cincuenta, e incapaz de confrontar en los setenta al perpetrador de un crimen que él atestiguara durante la Guerra de Corea. En cambio, compensa sus deficiencias recreándose en una novela como el doble heroico (en política y amores) del poeta chileno Pablo Neruda, a su vez un doble del Paolo Mal atesta de Dante. Irónicamente, su escritura de Ja novela lleva a su secuestro y muerte por sus captores, así como al secuestro de un antiguo estudiante que investiga su desaparición
