Fractal analysis of the galaxy distribution in the redshift range 0.45 < z < 5.0

Evidence is presented that the galaxy distribution can be described as a fractal system in the redshift range of the FDF galaxy survey. The fractal dimension $D$ was derived using the FDF galaxy volume number densities in the spatially homogeneous standard cosmological model with $\Omega_{m_0}=0.3$, $\Omega_{\Lambda_0}=0.7$ and H_0=70 \; \mbox{km} \; {\mbox{s}}^{-1} \; {\mbox{Mpc}}^{-1}. The ratio between the differential and integral number densities $\gamma$ and $\gamma^\ast$ obtained from the red and blue FDF galaxies provides a direct method to estimate $D$, implying that $\gamma$ and $\gamma^\ast$ vary as power-laws with the cosmological distances. The luminosity distance $d_{\scriptscriptstyle L}$, galaxy area distance $d_{\scriptscriptstyle G}$ and redshift distance $d_z$ were plotted against their respective number densities to calculate $D$ by linear fitting. It was found that the FDF galaxy distribution is characterized by two single fractal dimensions at successive distance ranges. Two straight lines were fitted to the data, whose slopes change at $z \approx 1.3$ or $z \approx 1.9$ depending on the chosen cosmological distance. The average fractal dimension calculated using $\gamma^\ast$ changes from $\langle D \rangle=1.4^{\scriptscriptstyle +0.7}_{\scriptscriptstyle -0.6}$ to $\langle D \rangle=0.5^{\scriptscriptstyle +1.2}_{\scriptscriptstyle -0.4}$ for all galaxies, and $D$ decreases as $z$ increases. Small values of $D$ at high $z$ mean that in the past galaxies were distributed much more sparsely and the large-scale galaxy structure was then possibly dominated by voids. Results of Iribarrem et al. (2014, arXiv:1401.6572) indicating similar fractal features with $\langle D \rangle =0.6 \pm 0.1$ in the far-infrared sources of the Herschel/PACS evolutionary probe (PEP) at $1.5 \lesssim z \lesssim 3.2$ are also mentioned.Comment: LaTex, 15 pages, 28 figures, 4 tables. The impact on teaching parents of English language beginners different focusing techniques to deal with ADD/ADHD 6th graders to improve specifically writing in the EFL classroom

In addition, it gets more complicated when parents do not want to support teachers in the educational process because of different reasons. What is more, the situation grew with the current educational norms when the government decided to incorporate ADD/ADHD children in the English subject. Because of that, an Action Research study was conducted, with the objective to explore the impact to which teaching focusing techniques to parents of ADD/ADHD 6th grade EFL students in a municipal school of Tome improves writing skills in students, through the application of a lead in test, a journal of focusing techniques applied by parents which followed the theory of Armstrong (1999) and a lead out test. In this process, parents of ADD/ADHD students evidenced that they were able to improve their levels of concentration which led to the improvement of the writing skills demonstrated through the lead out test. As a conclusion, the contribution of parents in the teaching of focusing techniques generated an impact their ADD/ADHD students’ writing skills

Computer implementation of bankruptcy rules

In this paper we describe a computer system that calculates allocation to claims according to two kinds of bankruptcy rules. The first kind implemented are those whose results corresponds to the classical solutions of game theory: The Talmud rule, the Proportional rule, the Adjusted Proportional rule, the Constrained Equal Awards rule and the Random Arrival rule. The second type implemented generates assignations to claims that have no correspondence with the classical results, they are: Piniles´ rule, the Constrained Egalitarian rule and Constrained Equal Losses rule. This computer system was developed in order to compute the different allocations to claims in Allocation problems, distribution problems and Assignment problems for real cases and to be used in education of game theory and decision problems. The system generates numerical and graphical results. It allows comparisons between the numerical results and their graphic representations. Probability of Insolvency.

This paper analyzes the problem of the balance sheet of an agent that invests in currencies different than those she finances. Assuming a constant rate of return and fixed financing costs, the agent can face the event of insolvency due to swings in the relevant exchange rate that is assumed to follow a geometric Brownian motion. Then, the process is generalized to allow dependency of the diffusion coefficient on the level of the exchange rate, reproducing many of the properties encountered in empirical studies of financial asset prices. The resulting hyperbolic process is calibrated via a martingale estimating function, and then we approximate the probability that the value of assets fails to match the value of liabilities at a given future date. The findings are consistent regardless the volatility assumption of the process. Finally, we give some insights to minimize the probability of such event.

El intercambio de patógenos como aliados en el éxito de la conquista española de América

This article was approached&nbsp; by the author as part of an essay for the ARCIS University of Arts and Social Sciences of Chile, which was deepened through the different studies on pre-Hispanic diseases, among them those of Villaseñor, (2002), during the conquest they indicate to us that the Amerindian immunity did not arrive at the immunity by the isolation of America to the centuries of interchanges of pathogens that if they owned the Spanish conquerors. It is evident that some chroniclers exaggerated the mortality figures that the interaction of germs in the indigenous population implied and, like the Spanish and English later, they noticed that the clothes contaminated by measles and smallpox were the most effective way to control the indigenous resistance. On the other hand, thanks to the chronicles and oral transmission has been able to configure a cartography on shamanic practices and rituals in regard to pre-Columbian medicine. Interdependencia y regímenes cambiarios en Mercosur: un modelo macroeconómico de equilibrio general computado para su medición.

Mercosur is currently going through an intermediate integration stage in which macroeconomic interdependence acquires more importance. Then, the need arises to adopt strategic definitions with regard to the future of the process itself. The study examines macroeconomic interdependence with a macroeconomic computable general equilibrium model. This enables an estimation of the sign and extent of transmission of shocks originating either in a Mercosur country or in the rest of the world. The results of the model simulations show that interdependence has important effects. We discuss the possibility of implementing a process of cooperation as an alternative to play Nash in some key policies

Desarrollo de un sistema de informacion que apoye la gestión en Transervic S.A.

66 p.El propósito de este proyecto de estudio es desarrollar un Sistema de Información que apoye la gestión en la Empresa de Transportes y Servicios Curicó S.A., Transervic S.A., identificando un problema dentro de la organización y ofrecer una solución informática para las actividades que hoy se realizan de manera manual. Se decide trabajar con una empresa de este rubro debido a que no se conocen estudios anteriores, por la importancia que tiene este proyecto para la empresa antes descrita y además este Sistema se va a implementar en la organización. El rubro en el cual se desenvuelve la empresa Transervic S.A. Curicó, es el de servicio, específicamente, Transporte de Pasajeros, en la modalidad Taxi - Colectivo Urbano. Producto del crecimiento demográfico y su expansión, Transervic S.A. intenta abarcar la demanda generada por dicha población, con un aumento sostenido en los últimos 5 años de su flota vehicular, comenzando con un parque de 30 automóviles llegando a tener hoy en día, 94 vehículos en circulación. Esto trae consigo un aumento considerable en la información y procesos que hay que registrar, lo cual se lleva acabo en forma manual sin ningún uso de tecnología. La problemática que presenta Transervic S.A. es la de una empresa creciente que necesita optimizar sus procesos de forma permanente, pues los registros y la obtención de información, se han tornado ineficientes en cuanto a costo y tiempo. Se posee, por tanto, la firme convicción de parte del Directorio actual y del Gerente General de la compañía, de mejorar el manejo de dichos procesos a través del desarrollo de este proyecto

Aislamiento de cepas de Streptomyces desde muestras de suelos de la Region del Maule y diseno de la produccion de sustancias con actividad antimicrobiana.

39 p.Hoy en día existe una gran resistencia de los microorganismos por el empleo de fármacos antimicrobianos, por diversas causas como por ejemplo el use indiscriminado de estos por la población, lo que obliga a que cada día se trate de encontrar algún nuevo metabolito secundario con actividad antimicrobiana y a su vez con un menor grado de toxicidad. En virtud de lo anterior de los anterior nos propusimos como objetivo el estudio de cepas de streptomyces de muestras de suelo de la Región del Maule, con el propósito de probar la actividad antimicrobiana de los extractos obtenidos de estas muestras, dado que en literatura existen antecedentes que los metabolitos secundarios presentan actividad antimicrobianas. Se analizaron veinte muestras de suelo de las cuales se aislaron quince cepas de streptomyces, que fueron fermentadas obteniéndose extractos crudos en que la medición de la actividad biológica de dichas muestras demostró que algunas de estos microorganismos aislados de suelo podrían utilizarse como potenciales productores de metabolitos secundarios con actividad antimicrobiana mediante el empleo de procesos biotecnológicos

Evaluación de estructura y propuesta de reforzamiento del puente peatonal Shamboyacu, Picota – San Martin, 2018

El presente trabajo de investigación, tuvo como objetivo general evaluar la estructura y dar una propuesta de reforzamiento para el puente peatonal Shamboyacu, que se encuentra en el departamento de San Martin, Provincia de Picota y Distrito de Shamboyacu. El puente tiene una luz de 90 metros y 2 metros de ancho, es un puente de mucha demanda al ser transitado por la población ya que une a diferentes comunidades del dicho distrito. Como objetivos específicos se tuvo que evaluar la estructura mediante observación y los ensayos no destructivos, estos datos y resultados nos sirven para realizar el procesamiento en el software robot structural, esto ayudo a analizar los elementos estructurales del puente peatonal para poder contrastar con el manual de puentes de MTC. También se efectuó el costo y presupuesto de la intervención a nivel de reforzamiento para el puente peatonal Shamboyacu. El tipo de investigación es preexperimental, porque mantiene una relación de causa y efecto, por otro lado, la población muestral está definida, porque tiene parámetros y características de un solo objeto a investigar, entonces se desarrolló por medio, los instrumentos de recolección de datos como certificados de los estudios esclerometría y ultrasonido. Mediante la simulación se evaluó los elementos estructurales como cable principal, péndolas, superestructura. Estos elementos cumplen con la norma puesto que el puente tiene 20 años de ejecución y que los pobladores no solamente lo utilizan como puente peatonal sino como vehicular de categoría II-B. La deflexión máxima del puente es 7.61cm esto indica que cumple con el manual de puentes del MTC, También indica que la frecuencia y periodo natural cumplen, por lo tanto, se aumentará el diámetro de las péndolas a 5/8’’ para tener una mejor rigidez al momento de trasladarse sobre el puente
