The production of knowledge in the context of struggles has gained academic space in recent years, especially when linked to health and the educational sector. Faced with this configuration, the present essay aims to approach the Marajoara Wrestling (MW) from an interdisciplinary perspective, considering sports and educational aspects and their interlocution with the health dimension. The methodological assumptions configure the essay as a descriptive study based on a literature review in search tools, Capes Periodicals, Academic Google and classic works prior to this period. It is evident that in parallel with a growing expansion process as a combat sport, MW experiences greater recognition in the educational field as an integral element of the curriculum component of physical education. The debate becomes controversial when the emphasis on technical issues predominates in pedagogical work. The interdisciplinary approach of the MW with the health dimension is one of the possible scenarios when considering the school as a context of practice. Such conception must be guided by pedagogical attitudes that aim at incorporating healthy lifestyle habits and critical reflection on sports practice. Thus articulated, the MW in the school would be associated with health prevention, through supervised practices of struggles aiming first of all at the integral education of the student. The approach would take into account the process of developing motor habits, mediating the initiation process to fight not only for the technical-sporting bias, but based on the integral development of the child, thus enabling the interdisciplinary treatment of MW with other areas of knowledge. There are no values defined as standard in the literature for the parameters of assessment of cervical sagittal balance in patients with idiopathic scoliosis. This study describes the sagittal cervical parameters in patients with idiopathic scoliosis. Methods: Study carried out in a tertiary public hospital in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, through the evaluation of panoramic radiographs in lateral view. The Cobb method was used to evaluate cervical lordosis from C2 to C7, distance from the center of gravity (COG) of the skull to C7, measurement of T1 slope, thoracic inlet angle (TIA), neck tilt, and plumb line from C7 to S1 (SVA C7-S1). A statistical analysis was performed, to demonstrate the relationship between the alignment of the thoracic spine in the sagittal plane and the cervical sagittal balance of patients with scoliosis. Results: Thirty-four patients were female (69.4%) and 15 male (30.6%). The mean values for COG-C7 were 0.71 mm (median 0.8 mm/standard deviation [SD]= 0.51 mm). For Cobb C2-C7, the mean was -11.7° (median -10°/SD= 20.4°). The mean slope of T1 was 23.5° (median 25°/SD= 9.5°). The mean cervical version was 58.8° (median 60°/DP= 15.4°). The mean TIA was 81.8° (median 85°/SD= 16.7°). The mean plumb line C7-S1 was -0.28 (-0.3/SD= 1.0). Conclusion: The analysis of the results showed that the mean values for the cervical lordosis are lower than the values described as normal in the literature, suggesting a loss of sagittal cervical balance in these patients.161384

Computational simulation of a double-deck bus dynamics in a bend turning coupled with crosswind effects

    Get PDF
Stability of high-sided road vehicles (trucks, vans, double-deck buses, etc) is highly influenced by crosswinds. Double-deck buses have an increased demand in some countries of Latin America due to their large passenger transportation capability. The variable conditions of the roads and mass distribution of the bus, i.e. vehicle with all passengers in the lower/upper level, empty or full, coupled with the wind action acting on it may lead to dangerous situations. To further understand this subject, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation of a double-deck bus taking a bend road coupled with crosswind is performed in this work. Some comments about the open source CFD toolbox OpenFOAM implementation to reproduce some dynamics characteristics of the rollover instability are made.Fil: Castro, Hugo Guillermo. To evaluate whether the presence of osteolysis around the pedicle screws affects the quality of life of patients who underwent posterolateral arthrodesis of the lumbosacral spine. Methods: A retrospective study of patients undergoing lumbar posterolateral or lumbosacral arthrodesis due to spinal degenerative disease. CT scans of the operated segments were performed at intervals of 45, 90, 180, and 360 postoperatively. In these tests, the presence of a peri-implant radiolucent halo was investigated, which was considered present when greater than 1mm in the coronal section. Concurrently with the completion of CT scans, the participants completed the questionnaire Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) to assess the degree of disability of the patients. Results: A total of 38 patients were evaluated, and 14 (36.84%) of them showed some degree of osteolysis around at least one pedicle screw at the end of follow-up. Of the 242 analyzed screws, 27 (11.15%) had osteolysis in the CT coronal section, with the majority of these occurrences located at the most distal level segment of the arthrodesis. There was no correlation between the presence of the osteolysis to the quality of life of patients. The quality of life has significantly improved when comparing the preoperative results with the postoperative results at different times of application of ODI. This improvement in ODI maintains linearity over time. Conclusion: There is no correlation between the presence of peri-implant osteolysis to the quality of life of patients undergoing lumbar or posterolateral lumbosacral arthrodesis in the follow-up period up to 360 days. The quality of life in postoperative has significantly improvement when compared to the preoperative period.15429029

Fil: Castro, Hugo Guillermo. Dopamine induces the accumulation of insoluble prion protein and affects autophagic flux

    Get PDF
Accumulation of protein aggregates is a histopathological hallmark of several neurodegenerative diseases, but in most cases the aggregation occurs without defined mutations or clinical histories, suggesting that certain endogenous metabolites can promote aggregation of specific proteins. One example that supports this hypothesis is dopamine and its metabolites. Dopamine metabolism generates several oxidative metabolites that induce aggregation of alpha-synuclein, and represents the main etiology of Parkinson's diseases. Because dopamine and its metabolites are unstable and can be highly reactive, we investigated whether these molecules can also affect other proteins that are prone to aggregate, such as cellular prion protein (PrPC). in this study, we showed that dopamine treatment of neuronal cells reduced the number of viable cells and increased the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) as demonstrated in previous studies. Overall PrPC expression level was not altered by dopamine treatment, but its unglycosylated form was consistently reduced at 100 mu M of dopamine. At the same concentration, the level of phosphorylated mTOR and 4EBP1 was also reduced. Moreover, dopamine treatment decreased the solubility of PrPC, and increased its accumulation in autophagosomal compartments with concomitant induction of LC3-II and p62/SQSTM1 levels. in vitro oxidation of dopamine promoted formation of high-order oligomers of recombinant prion protein. These results suggest that dopamine metabolites alter the conformation of PrPC, which in turn is sorted to degradation pathway, causing autophagosome overload and attenuation of protein synthesis. Accumulation of PrPC aggregates is an important feature of prion diseases. Thus, this study brings new insight into the dopamine metabolism as a source of endogenous metabolites capable of altering PrPC solubility and its subcellular localization.Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq)EMU (programa de equipamentos multiusuarios)Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Dept Biochem Mol & Cell Biol, BR-04039032 São Paulo, BrazilUniv Metodista São Paulo, São Paulo, BrazilAC Camargo Canc Ctr, Int Res Ctr, São Paulo, BrazilUniversidade Federal de São Paulo, Dept Biophys, BR-04039032 São Paulo, BrazilUniversidade Federal de São Paulo, Dept Biochem Mol & Cell Biol, BR-04039032 São Paulo, BrazilUniversidade Federal de São Paulo, Dept Biophys, BR-04039032 São Paulo, BrazilFAPESP: 2008/06152-9FAPESP: 2009/14027-2FAPESP: 2013/22413-5FAPESP: 2012/18093-2Web of Scienc

The aim was to understand the factors behind non-use of the checklist and the relevance of using antibiotic prophylaxis for patient safety. This is an integrative review study of secondary sources, carried out through the Virtual Health Library and ANVISA documents. In eight countries, a reduction from 11% to 7% in the occurrence of complications in surgical patients and a reduction in mortality from 1.5% to 0.8% was found with the use of the checklist. It is concluded that not using the checklist can pose risks to patient safety, increasing the percentage of errors, causing losses to institutions, in addition to the imminent death of patients. It was evident that the use of antibiotic prophylaxis must be carried out up to 60 minutes before the surgical incision, with it being carried out before 60 minutes or after the recommended time due to low efficacy. Industrial ventilation allows control factors such as presence of toxic compounds, excessive temperature or moisture, dust or impurities or even explosive or flammable agents, thus maintaining thermal comfort or preventing fire or explosion, being natural ventilation the very first choice for its evident resource economy and least energy consumption when implementing it. The ventilation process of a large size hangar was analyzed by means an experimental numerical research in a reduced prototype having a 1:50 scale and low permeability on their walls and a very low thermal insulation. Air mass motion by natural convection was researched for different permeability levels with no external atmospheric wind involvement at first and later subjected to external wind simulated into boundary wind tunnel. Numerical test made on hypothesis of laminar steady flow with open free code OpenFoam by means finite volume method, assessing different mesh settings in order to depict different openings adopted. By Using pressure coefficients according standard at determining flow showed strong limitations; opening arrangements having both rows opened threw more intense ventilation but ordered. Numerical results were consistent with the tested ones.Fil: Canela, Eduardo. Universidad Nacional del Nordeste. Facultad de Ingeniería; ArgentinaFil: Udrizar Lezcano, Maria Sandra.
