Features of high-strength composite material structure creation

    Get PDF
The basis of technology proposed is use of a sol-gel method for preventing polycrystalline corundum fiber from crystallization during heating to high temperature and for low-temperature synthesis of prescribed phases in a corundum matrix with the aim of improving the operating properties of composite materials based on corundum. As a result of firing a charge based on corundum powder modified with tetraethoxysilane and polycrystalline corundum fiber modified with ethylsilicate-32 at 1360°C materials are created with very good strength properties. The materials exhibit electrical insulation properties and are stable in ionized gas streams at the level of known analogs as a result of creating self-reinforced mullite and β-SiC corundum matrix, reinforced with polycrystalline fiber and rapidly sintered due to presence of silicon oxynitride

From scientific literature it is known that vitamin D helps maintain the most important functions of the immune system, there is evidence of its role in inflammatory and metabolic diseases of the liver, including infection with hepatitis C. Aim – to study vitamin D status in patients with chronic viral hepatitis C compared to the healthy ones. We examined 100 patients with chronic viral hepatitis C (main group) and 30 patients without hepatitis C virus (control group). Level of 25 (OH) D in serum was studied by immunochemical method with electrochemiluminescent detection. To verify the diagnosis of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency, a classification (M.F. Holick, 2011), adopted by the International Institute of Medicine and the Committee of Endocrinologists for clinical practice guidelines, was used. Vitamin D deficiency was found in 44% of people with chronic viral hepatitis C in the main group (mean hydroxycalciferol – 14.36±4.12 ng/ml. Vitamin D deficiency was found in 6,6% in the control group (mean 17,5±8,52 ng/ml). The average vitamin D deficiency in the main group was slightly lower than that in the control group. Factors that affect the metabolism of vitamin D in patients with chronic viral hepatitis C include a lack of vitamin D in blood serum

Splenic artery pseudoaneurysm complicated by haemorrhage into pancreatic pseudocyst: a clinical case

    Get PDF
Background. Splenic artery pseudoaneurysm is a rare complication of acute and chronic pancreatitis caused by an arterial wall lesion with aggressive pancreatic enzymes and followed by arrosive bleeding into pseudocyst lumen and the formation of a dense fibrous capsule prone to growth.Clinical Case Description. Patient M., 61 yo, was emergently admitted to Territorial Clinical Hospital No. 2 with a preliminary diagnosis: Chronic pancreatitis, incomplete remission. Pancreatic pseudocyst. Condition after endoscopic papillosphincterotomy, pancreatic duct stenting. Gastrointestinal haemorrhage. The patient complained of moderate persistent belting upper abdominal and left subcostal pain, nausea, general weakness, black liquid stool over last five days. Pancreonecrosis in history. Pseudocyst formation in two months, endoscopic papillosphincterotomy and pancreatic stenting in hospital, the aforementioned complaints appeared past three months. Moderate anaemia (haemoglobin 73 g/L, erythrocyte count 2.8 x 1012), hyperamylasaemia (amylase 170 U/L), no other pathology in general and biochemic blood panels. The patient was rendered urgent oesophagogastroduodenoscopy for large duodenal papilla, with no evident bleeding detected. Abdominal CT angiography revealed a haemorrhagic mass connected with splenic artery lumen in the projection of pancreatic tail. The patient was transferred to an interventional radiology room for coil embolisation of splenic artery. The postoperative period was benign, and the patient discharged on day 3 after surgery for outpatient surgical patronage. Definite clinical diagnosis: Chronic pancreatitis, incomplete remission. Splenic artery pseudoaneurysm with haemorrhage into pancreatic pseudocyst. Condition after endoscopic papillosphincterotomy, pancreatic duct stenting.Conclusion. Splenic artery pseudoaneurysm with haemorrhage into pancreatic pseudocyst is reluctant to early diagnosis due to a lacking definite clinical picture and tractable only at an interdisciplinary institution disposing with a rich diagnostic toolkit and sufficiently qualified medical personnel. Endovascular treatment is overall most effective and enables a reliable aneurysm isolation from the splenic artery basin

Changes in the quantitative characteristics of the Ukrainian market of tear replacement products for dry eye disease over 2016-2019

Background: Management of dry eye syndrome (DES) is a current medical, pharmaceutical and social issue both globally and in Ukraine. Purpose: To assess changes in quantitative characteristics of the Ukrainian market of tear replacement products (TRPs) for dry eye disease over 2016-2019. Material and Methods: Data from the national pharmacy-related registers and from PharmXplorer, a marketing research database from Proxima Research LLC, were used for research. Sales were assessed in terms of both packages and Ukrainian hryvnias (₴). Retrospective, structural and graphical methods were used for research. Results: Of the TRPs available on the market, only 10.7% were Ukrainian products. Almost half (46.43%) of the TRPs were those whose price range was from ₴101 to ₴200. The smallest share of the market (14.28%) was attributed to the most expensive TRPs. In addition, almost half of the products of the lowest price range (₴100 and under) were domestic products. Conclusion: the number of domestic TRPs in the Ukrainian pharmaceutical market is limited. A stable increase in TRP retail sales both in packages and hryvnias indicates a stable and positive increase in demand for therapeutic products for dry eye patients. A Ukrainian lowest-price niche medical device containing both dexpanthenol and taurin was an absolute leader of 2016-2019 TRP retail sales

Background. Acute cerebrovascular disorders are one of the main causes of severe disability in modern society. Russian and foreign researchers register the emerging trend towards rejuvenation of the patients with stroke, which, in turn, significantly increases the relevance of the treatment and rehabilitation of these patients at various stages. The aim. To study the social and hygienic characteristics of the stroke patients and to determine their need for medical rehabilitation in the early recovery period.Materials and methods. We studied the social and hygienic characteristics of 109 patients who had stroke in 2020 and 2021 and underwent rehabilitation in the specialized rehabilitation department of the Southern District Medical Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, and determined their need for medical rehabilitation using the analytical method, the method of expert assessments and questionnaires.Results. The average portrait of a patient with a stroke in the early recovery period is as follows: this is a man aged 61 to 70 years with a higher or secondary specialized education, unemployed, living in the city. Up to 30 % of stroke survivors were recognized as disabled; among which, the persons with more severe disability (groups I and II) predominate – up to 90 %. Implementation of rehabilitation measures in the acute period in the hospital and in the early recovery period in the outpatient clinic is carried out at a fairly low level. The percentage of patients being examined by a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team ranges from 17.4 to 10.1 %.Conclusion. The availability of medical rehabilitation measures in a specialized rehabilitation center is quite limited; more than half of the surveyed contingent (52.3 %) experienced problems in obtaining a referral to treatment, about half of the respondents (46.8 %) waited up to 6 months for a referral, which indicates the need to expand the network of such institutions at the regional level

Combined QCD and electroweak analysis of HERA data

A simultaneous fit of parton distribution functions (PDFs) and electroweak parameters to HERA data on deep inelastic scattering is presented. The input data are the neutral current and charged current inclusive cross sections which were previously used in the QCD analysis leading to the HERAPDF2.0 PDFs. In addition, the polarisation of the electron beam was taken into account for the ZEUS data recorded between 2004 and 2007. Results on the vector and axial-vector couplings of the Z boson to u- and d-type quarks, on the value of the electroweak mixing angle and the mass of the W boson are presented. The values obtained for the electroweak parameters are in agreement with Standard Model predictions.Comment: 32 pages, 10 figures, accepted by Phys. Rev. D. Small corrections from proofing process and small change to Fig. 12 and Table

Limits on the effective quark radius from inclusive epep scattering at HERA

    Get PDF
The high-precision HERA data allows searches up to TeV scales for Beyond the Standard Model contributions to electron-quark scattering. Combined measurements of the inclusive deep inelastic cross sections in neutral and charged current epep scattering corresponding to a luminosity of around 1 fb1^{-1} have been used in this analysis. A new approach to the beyond the Standard Model analysis of the inclusive epep data is presented; simultaneous fits of parton distribution functions together with contributions of "new physics" processes were performed. Results are presented considering a finite radius of quarks within the quark form-factor model. The resulting 95% C.L. upper limit on the effective quark radius is 0.4310160.43\cdot 10^{-16} cm.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures, accepted by Phys. Lett.
