The Construction of Kekeluargaan as an Indonesia’s Organizational Culture
Indonesia has the largest economy in Southeast Asia and the seventh largest GDP in the world, yet little is known about Indonesia’s organizational culture. This paper develops a deep understanding of kekeluargaan (kinship), which derives from an anthropological and sociological epistemologies. The paper explores Javanese culture as the foundation of Indonesia’s business context. A qualitative and indigenous approach was designed to determine if the kekeluargaan norm exists in the Indonesian workplace today. Document analysis and semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. The findings show that the kekeluargaan norm acts as the foundation of Indonesia’s organisational culture; with, hormat (respect) and rukun (harmony). Three proposition are given to consider the importance of understanding kekeluargaan as a salient Indonesian organizational culture. The paper concludes managerial and theoretical implications to Indonesian business context
Removal and transformation of hexavalent chromium in sequencing batch reactor
The objectives of this study are to evaluate the efficiency of removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) in a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and to ascertain the fate of Cr(VI) in the treatment process. An SBR was operated with the FILL, REACT, SETTLE, DRAW and IDLE periods in the time ratio of 2:12:2:1.5:6.5 for a cycle time of 24 h. The study was divided into 5 phases with the addition of 0.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 5.0 mg/ℓ of Cr(VI) in Phases II, III, IV and V for a duration of 46, 75, 43 and 16 operational cycles, respectively. The Cr(VI) removal efficiencies for SBR were found to be 79.8, 88.4 and 99.8% in Phases III, IV and V, respectively. The results revealed that Cr(VI) removal efficiency improved with acclimated activated sludge. Determination of Cr in the suspended sludge showed that around 95% of the Cr species were Cr(III). Determination of Cr concentration profiles during the FILL and REACT periods showed that the predominant species was Cr(III) as Cr(VI) was bio-reduced. The proposed Cr(VI) removal mechanism involves bioreduction to Cr(III) which was subsequently precipitated and adsorbed by activated sludge. Precipitation rather than sorption is envisaged to be the main path of removal of Cr(III) from the solution.Keywords: Sequencing batch reactor, hexavalent chromium, removal, transformation, mechanis
Dust in Interstellar Clouds, Evolved Stars and Supernovae
Outflows of pre-main-sequence stars drive shocks into molecular material
within 0.01 - 1 pc of the young stars. The shock-heated gas emits infrared,
millimeter and submillimeter lines of many species including. Dust grains are
important charge carriers and play a large role in coupling the magnetic field
and flow of neutral gas. Some effects of the dust on the dynamics of oblique
shocks began to emerge in the 1990s. However, detailed models of these shocks
are required for the calculation of the grain sputtering contribution to gas
phase abundances of species producing observed emissions. We are developing
such models. Some of the molecular species introduced into the gas phase by
sputtering in shocks or by thermally driven desorption in hot cores form on
grain surfaces. Recently laboratory studies have begun to contribute to the
understanding of surface reactions and thermally driven desorption important
for the chemistry of star forming clouds. Dusty plasmas are prevalent in many
evolved stars just as well as in star forming regions. Radiation pressure on
dust plays a significant role in mass loss from some post-main-sequence stars.
The mechanisms leading to the formation of carbonaceous dust in the stellar
outflows are similar to those important for soot formation in flames. However,
nucleation in oxygen-rich outflows is less well understood and remains a
challenging research area. Dust is observed in supernova ejecta that have not
passed through the reverse shocks that develop in the interaction of ejecta
with ambient media. Dust is detected in high redshift galaxies that are
sufficiently young that the only stars that could have produced the dust were
so massive that they became supernovae. Consequently, the issue of the survival

Estimating the Quality of Electroconvulsive Therapy Induced Seizures Using Decision Tree and Fuzzy Inference System Classifiers
Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is an effective and widely used treatment for major depressive disorder, in which a brief electric current is passed through the brain to trigger a brief seizure. This study aims to identify seizure quality rating by utilizing a set of seizure parameters. We used 750 ECT EEG recordings in this experiment. Four seizure related parameters, (time of slowing, regularity, stereotypy and post-ictal suppression) are used as inputs to two classifiers, decision tree and fuzzy inference system (FIS), to predict seizure quality ratings. The two classifiers produced encouraging results with error rate of 0.31 and 0.25 for FIS and decision tree, respectively. The classification results show that the four seizure parameters provide relevant information about the rating of seizure quality. Automatic scoring of seizure quality may be beneficial to clinicians working in this field
Study of electrically active defects in epitaxial layers on silicon
Electrically active defects in silicon-based epitaxial layers on silicon substrates have been studied by Deep-Level Transient Spectroscopy (DLTS). Several aspects have been investigated, like, the impact of the pre-epi cleaning conditions and the effect of a post-deposition anneal on the deep-level properties. It is shown that the pre-cleaning thermal budget has a strong influence on the defects at the substrate/epi layer interface. At the same time, a post-deposition Forming Gas Anneal can passivate to a large extent the active defect states. Finally, it is shown that application of a post-deposition anneal increases the out-diffusion of carbon from a Si:C stressor layer into the p-type CZ substrate
One-dimensional collision carts computer model and its design ideas for productive experiential learning
We develop an Easy Java Simulation (EJS) model for students to experience the
physics of idealized one-dimensional collision carts. The physics model is
described and simulated by both continuous dynamics and discrete transition
during collision. In the field of designing computer simulations, we discuss
briefly three pedagogical considerations such as 1) consistent simulation world
view with pen paper representation, 2) data table, scientific graphs and
symbolic mathematical representations for ease of data collection and multiple
representational visualizations and 3) game for simple concept testing that can
further support learning. We also suggest using physical world setup to be
augmented complimentary with simulation while highlighting three advantages of
real collision carts equipment like tacit 3D experience, random errors in
measurement and conceptual significance of conservation of momentum applied to
just before and after collision. General feedback from the students has been
relatively positive, and we hope teachers will find the simulation useful in

A rigorous real time Feynman Path Integral and Propagator
We will derive a rigorous real time propagator for the Non-relativistic
Quantum Mechanic transition probability amplitude and for the
Non-relativistic wave function. The propagator will be explicitly given in
terms of the time evolution operator. The derivation will be for all
self-adjoint nonvector potential Hamiltonians. For systems with potential that
carries at most a finite number of singularity and discontinuities, we will
show that our propagator can be written in the form of a rigorous real time,
time sliced Feynman path integral via improper Riemann integrals. We will also
derive the Feynman path integral in Nonstandard Analysis Formulation. Finally,
we will compute the propagator for the harmonic oscillator using the
Nonstandard Analysis Feynman path integral formuluation; we will compute the
propagator without using any knowledge of classical properties of the harmonic
oscillator
A novel HSP-90 inhibitor with highly selective activity against papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers
Background
HSP90 is a chaperone protein regulating several client proteins involved in thyroid cancer development. The purpose of this study is to mechanisticially evaluate a novel natural-product HSP90 inhibitor in thyroid cancer cell lines for future translational applications.
Methods
285 plant-extracts/compounds were evaluated for anti-cancer activity by MTS assay. Apoptosis and cell-cycle-arrest were characterized by annexinV-PI flow cytometry. HSP90 and client-protein inhibition along with apoptosis confirmation was demonstrated by Western blot analysis.
Results
45 of 285extracts/compounds demonstrated anti-proliferative activity in thyroid cancers by MTS assay. BTIMNP_D004 demonstrated the highest inhibition [IC50(NPA)=0.19±0.02mM, IC50(DRO)=0.26±0.03mM]vs. 17-AAG [IC50(NPA)=0.51±0.02mM; IC50(DRO)=0.75±0.04mM;p<0.001]. D004 induced cell-cycle-arrest after 18hours (G1/G0→S and G2/M) with 26%DRO cells shifted and 23%NPA cells shifted vs. controls (p<0.001 and <0.01 respectively). 1mM D004 induced significant apoptosis with 76%DRO cells gated after 18hrs. (Annexin V/PI staining) vs <2% in controls;p<0.001 and 80%NPA cells vs. 4%controls(p<0.001). Western analysis demonstrated inhibition of HSP90, HSF-1, AKT, and cleavage of procaspase3 and PARP in both NPA and DRO cells.
Conclusion
BTIMNP_D004 is a potent, novel HSP90inhibitor with selective activity against papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers through modulation of client proteins, induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. These data support future pre-clinical studies for translational applications
