Summary. Aesthetic demands of patients, social pressure of having a perfect smile, high incidence of dental disorders of multiple etiologies require lately more and more treatments of teeth whitening and of dental aesthetics improvement. This made us study the action of some whitening preparations on dental enamel’s microhardness and the capacity of some fluorine based remineralization products to influence changes that may result from the action of whitening systems

Given the complexity of etiological factors of periodontal disease, it is required a detailed analysis of the clinical issues encountered, depending on age, gender and periodontal indices. The results can guide the dentist practitioner to choose the most appropriate and effective therapeutic methods. Material and methods: 126 patients were selected, of both genders and aged between 20-70 years, with periodontal pockets, and a control group of 40 patients without periodontal pockets. Results: Various categories of periodontal pockets were detected by us, with a significant association between groups of patients examined, correlations that can provide very important evidence about methods of treatment that needs to be applied. Size of periodontal pocket was analyzed in correlation with gender, age, plaque index (PI) and papillary bleeding index (PBI). Results of correlation test for periodontal pocket depth and age, gender, PI, PBI and CPITN indicates a significant increase of periodontal pocket depth in patients with increased PBI (r = 0.67, p = 0.0001). Conclusions: This study may guide the dentists’ practitioners in choosing of the appropriate treatment technique, avoiding some failures that may occur in time

Introduction. The aim of study was to correlate dental-pulp reactions to dental caries with diverse localization, evolution and depth. Materials and method. The study was realized on a group of 87 patients with age ranging between 15-35 years. 222 posterior teeth with carious lesions were examined both on clinical and radiographs (ortopantomographs). Type of pulp-dentinal defensive reactions visible on radiographs were as follows: neodentinogenesis with advanced deposition of tertiary dentin, dentinal hypermineralisation, difuse pulp calcification. Parameters taken in study were as follows: sex, age group, dental group, radiographic indices (depth, location). Data were recorded in tables and expressed in Microsoft Excel graphs. Results and discussions. Clinical and radiographic data showed correlation between deep chronic caries localized on occlusal surfaces of mandibular molars and dentinal hypermineralisation reactions; deep chronic caries localized on maxillary molars were associated with massive retraction of pulp room through neodentinogenesis. Lack of pulp-dentinal complex reactions was observed especially for patients with age 15-25 and dental caries with acute evolution. Conclusions. Age, localization and evolution of dental caries can be correlated with presence of specific forms of pulp-dentinal reactions

Despite the progresses of the modern dentistry, the carious disease is still affecting a large number of peoples. The caries detectors would be helpful for diagnosis of early enamel caries as well as dentinal caries. The study focused on the role of caries detectors on objective criteria of assessment of the caries preparation, the early diagnosis of the incipient caries as well as monitorisation of the remineralising processes. The study used product Color-test of the Vladmiva (Rusia): solution and gel. The study was performed on 25 patients age 15-38 with medium and high level of cariogenic status. The statistical results show the practical importance of the caries detectors for the conservative treatment of the dental caries, with different degree of penetration in dental tissues. It also allows the monitorisation of the success of the non-invasive or minimal invasive treatment. The use of the caries detectors allows minimal preparation of the dental issues, accordingly to modern principles of the actual dentistry
