Polish-Russian relations seem to be heavily burdened by historical experience. History in- fluences the present not only indirectly, via historical facts, but also via the ways of commem- orating them. Referring to their memories, social groups strengthen the sense of their own uniqueness and cultural identity. One of the ways to commemorate events are anniversary celebrations accompanied by a certain political rhetoric. The author analyzes the texts, press releases, commentaries and an- niversary speeches given by politicians to commemorate the Katyñ massacre published by the „Gazeta Wyborcza” and „Rzeczpospolita” daily in April 1990, 2000 and 2010. Among the figures of memory identified in the analyzed texts which are typical of the Pol- ish-Russian dialogue concerning the Katyñ issue over the period of 1990–2010, there prevails a certain group of topoi appropriated by the language of politics from Christianity, and pre- cisely from the sacrament of confession. These topoi are based on reconciliation and compen- sation. Other topoi involve those of a victim, righteous Russian or a common field of memory.Polish-Russian relations seem to be heavily burdened by historical experience. Multi-GeV neutrinos due to neutro anti-neutron oscillation in Gamma-Ray Burst Fireballs

The long and short gamma-ray bursts are believed to be produced due to collapse of massive stars and merger of compact binaries respectively. All these objects are rich in neutron and the jet outflow from these objects must have a neutron component in it. By postulating the neutron anti-neutron oscillation in the gamma-ray burst fireball, we show that, 19-38 GeV neutrinos and anti-neutrinos can be produced due to annihilation of anti-neutrons with the background neutrons. These neutrinos and anti-neutrinos will be produced before the 5-10 GeV neutrinos due to dynamical decoupling of neutrons from the rest of the fireball. Observation of these neutrinos will shed more light on the nature of the GRB progenitors and also be a unique signature of physics beyond the standard model. Divorticity and Dihelicity In Two-Dimensional Hydrodynamics

A framework is developed based on the concepts of {\it divorticity} ${\textbf B}$(\equiv\nabla\times\bfo, \bfo being the vorticity) and \textit{dihelicity} g \lp \equiv\bfv\cdot\textbf{B}\rp for discussing the theoretical structure underlying two-dimensional (2D) hydrodynamics. This formulation leads to the global and Lagrange invariants that could impose significant constraints on the evolution of divorticity lines in 2D hydrodynamics

Classification of 5-HT1A Receptor Ligands on the Basis of Their Binding Affinities by Using PSO-Adaboost-SVM

In the present work, the support vector machine (SVM) and Adaboost-SVM have been used to develop a classification model as a potential screening mechanism for a novel series of 5-HT1A selective ligands. Each compound is represented by calculated structural descriptors that encode topological features. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) and the stepwise multiple linear regression (Stepwise-MLR) methods have been used to search descriptor space and select the descriptors which are responsible for the inhibitory activity of these compounds. The model containing seven descriptors found by Adaboost-SVM, has showed better predictive capability than the other models. The total accuracy in prediction for the training and test set is 100.0% and 95.0% for PSO-Adaboost-SVM, 99.1% and 92.5% for PSO-SVM, 99.1% and 82.5% for Stepwise-MLR-Adaboost-SVM, 99.1% and 77.5% for Stepwise-MLR-SVM, respectively. The results indicate that Adaboost-SVM can be used as a useful modeling tool for QSAR studies

Katyn anniversaries in 1990-2010. Position and functions of political ritual in the Polish culture of remembrance

Wydział Nauk Politycznych i DziennikarstwaGłównym celem badań było ukazanie funkcjonalnego wymiaru rytuałów politycznych związanych z obchodami rocznic zbrodni katyńskiej w latach 1990-2010. Rozprawę otwiera postawienie pytań i hipotez badawczych, zakreślenie ram czasowych oraz omówienie materiałów źródłowych. Ponadto w części teoretycznej pracy omówiony został stan badań nad kluczowymi dla dysertacji zagadnieniami oraz metodologia prowadzenia badań. Badania przeprowadzone metodą politolingwistyczną pozwoliły zaobserwować dziesięć toposów organizujących rocznicowy dyskurs katyński. Należały do nich: topos ofiary niewinnej, naruszonej sprawiedliwości, zadośćuczynienia, sprawiedliwych Rosjan, przyjaciół Moskali oraz topos wierchuszki, a także topos wspólnego pola pamięci, pojednania (od wrogów do przyjaciół), topos wzajemnego przebaczenia oraz rocznicy jako szczególnej okazji czy topos nieludzkiej ziemi. Analiza zawartości treści metodą semantyczno-pragmatyczną doniesień medialnych towarzyszących obchodom katyńskim pozwoliła ukazać szereg funkcji, które pełnił rytuał katyński w polskiej kulturze pamięci od 1990 do 2010 roku. Wywód nt. funkcji uporządkowany został od funkcji emocjonalnej, poprzez funkcje takie jak normatywna, legitymizacyjna, integracyjna, edukacyjna, po performatywną. Dysertacja doktorska zakończona została przywołaniem postawionego na wstępie problemu badawczego i próbą odpowiedzi na postawione pytania badawcze.The main goal of the research was to show the functional dimension of political rituals associated with the celebrations of the Katyn crime anniversaries in 1990-2010. The dissertation begins with research questions and hypotheses, a time-frame outline and a review of source materials. The theoretical part of the thesis also discusses the present state of research concerning the topics in question and the applied research methodology. The study using the political linguistic method allowed to observe ten topoi organizing the Katyn anniversary discourse. They included: the topos of an innocent victim, violated justice, compensation, fair Russians, friends Muscovites, the topos of elite, as well as the topos of a shared field of remembrance, reconciliation (from foes to friends), the topos of mutual forgiveness and the anniversary as a special occasion or the topos of inhuman land. Pragmatic-semantic analysis of the contents of media reports accompanying Katyn celebrations allowed to show a number of functions that the Katyn ritual had performed in the Polish culture of remembrance in 1990–2010. The study of functions proceeds from emotional, through normative, legitimization, integration and educational functions, to the performative function. At the end, the doctoral thesis returns to the problem put forward at the beginning and tries to answer the proposed research questions

Б статье рассматривается специфика жанровой структуры таках произведений, как " Владимирские проселки" и "Капля росы". Автор статья считает, что одной из главных черт, определяющих сюжетную конструкцию повестей Солоухина является функция автора- -повествоватед я, как лирического героя, через призму которого представлен?* явления объективной действительности. Стремясь к отображению "поэзии жизни" писатель создал произ- ведения, явившиеся синтезом лирики иочерка, жанровую Форму ко- торых определяет постоянное переплетение лирического и эпичес- кого начал. композицию каждой из повестей определяет позиция познающе- го авторского “я", Во "Владимирских проселках" - это реляция пу- тешествующего писателя, в которой субъект и объект повествования сливаются, развитие же фабулы определяется "физическим протека- нием времена"; в "Капле росы" - сюжет строится по принципу ассо- циации и перемещения временных пластов изображаемой действи- тельности. Сложность жанровой структуры обеих повестей определяется тво- рческим методом одновременного оперирования двумя - способами отображения: стремлением к точному, фактографическому показу ми- ра природы и, с другой стороны, - передачи взаимоотношений; чело- век и окружающий мир.
