    Penerimaan pembelajaran berasaskan permainan digital dalam mempengaruhi motivasi belajar

    Kajian ini bertujuan mengkaji persepsi pelajar dalam penerimaan pembelajaran berasaskan permainan digital dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar. Kajian kuantitatif berbentuk tinjauan ini melibatkan 234 orang pelajar Tahun 1 Diploma dalam pelbagai kursus di tiga buah Kolej Vokasional Negeri Melaka. Analisis data melibatkan analisis kekerapan, skor min, sisihan piawaian dan peratusan menggunakan perisian SPSS 20. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan nilai skor min bagi penerimaan pelajar terhadap pembelajaran berasaskan permainan digital adalah tinggi iaitu 4.51. Manakala persepsi pelajar terhadap motivasi belajar daripada empat aspek iaitu perhatian, relevan, keyakinan dan kepuasan berada pada nilai skor min yang tinggi antara 4.55 hingga 4.65. Kesimpulannya, pelajar mempunyai reaksi yang positif terhadap kaedah pembelajaran berasaskan permainan digital ini kerana ia menarik, tidak membosankan dan selari dengan perkembangan teknologi terkini dalam dunia pendidikan. Secara tidak langsung kaedah pembelajaran seperti ini dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar pelajar. Oleh itu, kesiapsediaan diperlukan oleh guru, BPTV, JPN, KPM dan ibubapa bagi mewujudkan suasana pembelajaran Abad ke-21

    Kerjaya merupakan salah satu keperluan bagi setiap manusia samada golongan normal mahupun golongan berkeperluan khas. Kerjaya merupakan laluan bagi manusia untuk mencari sumber pendapatan untuk memastikan kelangsungan hidup. Namun, terdapat isu berkaitan pengangguran terhadap golongan berkeperluan khas. Oleh itu kajian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengenal pasti persepsi industri hospitaliti terhadap golongan berkeperluan khas (masalah pendengaran) serta mengenal pasti cabaran yang dihadapi oleh industri dalam pengambilan pekerja berkeperluan khas (masalah pendengaran). Selain itu kajian ini juga dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti keperluan kriteria yang diharapkan oleh industri hospitaliti. Kajian ini melibatkan 28 syarikat di bawah sektor hospitaliti yang terdapat di sekitar Batu Pahat dan Muar, Johor. Seramai 88 orang majikan yang terdiri daripada pengurus, penyelia, ketua-ketua bahagian dan pekerja yang terlibat dengan pekerja berkeperluan khas (masalah pendengaran) adalah responden dalam kajian ini. Kajian ini menggunakan borang soal selidik sebagai instrument kajian. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan kaedah deskriptif menggunakan perisian SPSS (Statistic Package for the Social Science) versi 16.0.     Substitution public accounting firm can be made mandatory and Voluntary in accordance with the focus of attention that occurs. If the change was involuntary, the primary focus is the company and vice versa. Many variables can affect the turn of the Public Accountant including management changes, Opinion Auditor, Financial Distress, Share Growth, and firm size. This study aims to examine and explain the effect of management changes, Opinion Auditor, Financial Distress, Share Growth, firm size, ROA and ROE Percentage tehadap Public Accounting Firm turnover of the company. The data used is data companies listed on the Stock Exchange in the period 2013-2014 which is accessed through the website of the Stock Exchange www.idx.co.id. Methods of data collection using purposive sampling method and sample obtained was 124 companies. Hypothesis testing is done using logistic regression analyzes with SPSS program. The results of this study indicate that a change of management, Auditor Opinion, Financial Distress, Share Growth, firm size, and ROE partially or jointly influence the turn of the KAP (Auditor Switching). ROA percentage is partially not yet jointly influence the turn of the KAP (Auditor Switching). The results showed Opinion Auditor influence the turn of KAP, which the company will choose the auditor who is willing to give opinions on the desired company. This is related to the independence of auditors and public accounting firm that is expected to further conduct research related research independence. The limited period of two years can certainly affect the results of this study. So hopefully in the next research study period should be more than two years to allow classification based audit tenure

    Extraction and characterization of microcrystalline cellulose from Apocynum venetum

    In this work, cellulose microcrystal has been isolated from Apocynum venetum (AV) through acid hydrolysis. In addition, the properties of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC-N) extracted from AV are compared with those of commercially available microcrystalline cellulose (MCC-C). The characterizations of MCCs are studied by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermo gravimetric analyzer, and Zeta potential. As compared to MCC-C, MCC-N unveil more crystallinity percentage, fewer impurities, and comparable thermal stability without modifying the chemical composition of the sample. Besides, SEM images demonstrate rough surface and slight aggregation of extracted MCC from AV. Extracted MCC from AV can be possibly utilized as a reinforcement in green composites or hydrophilic micro composites as well as a source for AV fibre derived nanocellulose. Moreover, MCC-N can also be used in food, cosmetics, and medical industries.

    Traditional utilization of wild date palm (Phoenix sylvestris Roxb) in rural Bangladesh: An approach to sustainable biodiversity management

    The original publication is available at www.springerlink.com.A study was conducted to explore the traditional utilization pattern and indigenous management practices of wild date palm (Phoenix sylvestris Roxb) in the rural agrarian regions of Bangladesh. A multistage sampling method with 10% intensity and a semi-structured questionnaire were used for the study. The farmers manage the palm mainly for sap production with which sugar based secondary goods are manufactured. The sap is either used fresh as drink or after some sort of processing as molasses and/or alcoholic beverage. Seven diversified sites support the palm as its habitat and most palms (20.40%) occur in orchards. Besides growing naturally, the palm is also established in orchards using the wildings as the staple planting material. Although the medium category farmers own most of the palms (33%), a considerable portion (28.68%) of it is managed by the landless farmers, who earn a substantial livelihood from the palms. The farmers practice their own indigenous wisdom in every stage of the palm’s maintenance from planting through tapping for sap collection to the processing of products. If managed more scientifically on a sustainable basis with the collaboration of farmers’ indigenous knowledge, this familiar palm could be able to support the rural economy of the country to a great extent.     Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for Simulating Robot Movement on Two-Dimensional Space Based on Odor Sensing

    Nowadays, researches in robotic field have grown increasingly. There are several types of research categories in the field of robotic. Recently, one of the famous research works recently was odor sensing. Within the technology that grows rapidly, this topic has become an interest among researchers. An odor sensing is not only applied in the medical field, but it has also been widely used in the industry. The gradient of concentration of an odor is measured by diluting some amount to reach the threshold of an odor. This paper focused on the implementation of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method based on odor sensing in two (2) dimensional space. However, it only discusses and focuses on applying in ideal condition. An ideal condition here means that there is no disturbance included in this simulation. The main idea of this paper was to observe how the particle agents make the movement based on concentration by applying the PSO method. The real sensor cannot be implemented in this simulation because the value of concentration is measured due to the distance from the particles agent to the goal of agents. Higher gradient concentration is shown at the shorter distance to the goal. The contributions in this paper are mainly to create an algorithms model by using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to calculate the paths of movement of mobile robot until they reach the goals (source of odor) with respect to the concepts of odor sensing

    Development of Portable Air Conditioning System Using Peltier and Seebeck Effect

    The society bustle factor in this day and age, most people want to find equipment that is often used in everyday life in a small and light weight design. The purpose of this project is to develop portable air conditioning system without using any gas. The system used thermoelectric heat pump as main device for producing cool air known as Peltier Effect. The generating system theoretically can recycle the heat loss to produce additional electricity for other usage. The efficacy of this system tested using two types of experimental using Peltier and Seebeck Effect. Both experimental are conducted using 3 specific volumes; 1) 1000cm3; 2) 4000cm3; and 3) 9000cm3. As a result, temperature for heating and cooling systems achieve around 16 – 40 degree Celcius (oC) while the voltage generated around 12V in 30 minutes

    This paper describes the circuit design and measurement of a single stage RF amplifier for 5.8 GHz-band with IEEE 802.11a standards for WLAN applications.The circuit was simulated using Ansoft Designer where a 14dB of gain; input and output return loss less than -10dB were observed. The GaAs Hetrojunction FET (HFET), capacitors and resistors are combined with the microstrip line pattern by silver epoxy. A 1dB output power compression point (P1dB) of 17dBm and 14.56dB of gain when -1dBm power injected under 6V and ½ Idss biasing are measured
