Modification of the Douglas Neumann program to improve the efficiency of predicting component interference and high lift characteristics
The Douglas Neumann method for low-speed potential flow on arbitrary three-dimensional lifting bodies was modified by substituting the combined source and doublet surface paneling based on Green's identity for the original source panels. Numerical studies show improved accuracy and stability for thin lifting surfaces, permitting reduced panel number for high-lift devices and supercritical airfoil sections. The accuracy of flow in concave corners is improved. A method of airfoil section design for a given pressure distribution, based on Green's identity, was demonstrated. The program uses panels on the body surface with constant source strength and parabolic distribution of doublet strength, and a doublet sheet on the wake. The program is written for the CDC CYBER 175 computer. Results of calculations are presented for isolated bodies, wings, wing-body combinations, and internal flow

Single-cell sequencing reveals the heterogeneity and intratumoral crosstalk in human endometrial cancer
BACKGROUND: Endometrial cancer (EC) is one of the most common gynecologic malignancies with increasing morbidity. Cell–cell and cell‐matrix interactions within the tumour microenvironment (TME) exert a powerful influence over the progression of EC. Therefore, a comprehensive exploration of heterogeneity and intratumoral crosstalk is essential to elucidate the mechanisms driving EC progression and develop novel therapeutic approaches. METHODS: 4 EC and 2 normal endometrium samples were applied for single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq) analysis. In addition, we also included the public database to explore the clinical benefits of the single cell analysis. RESULTS: 9 types of cells were identified with specific expression of maker genes. Both the malignant epithelial cells and cells comprising the immune microenvironment displayed a high degree of intertumoral heterogeneity. Notably, the proliferation T cells also showed an exhausted feature. Moreover, the malignant cells may induce an immunosuppressive microenvironment through TNF‐ICOS pair. Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) were divided into four subsets with distinct characteristics and they maintained frequent communications with malignant cells which facilitating the progression of EC. We also found that the existence of vascular CAF (vCAF) may indicate a worse prognosis for EC patients through integrating TCGA database. CONCLUSION: The TME of human EC remains highly heterogeneous. Out finding that malignant cells interact closely with immune cells and vCAFs identifies potential therapeutic targets
Transistor behavior via Au clusters etched from electrodes in an acidic gating solution: metal nanoparticles mimicking conducting polymers
We report that the electrical conductance between closely-spaced gold
electrodes in acid solution can be turned from off [insulating; I] to on
[conducting; C] to off again by monotonically sweeping a gate voltage applied
to the solution. We propose that this ICI transistor action is due to an
electrochemical process dependent on nanoparticles etched from the surface of
the gold electrodes. These measurements mimic closely the characteristics of
nanoscale acid-gated polyaniline transistors, so that researchers should guard
against misinterpreting this effect in future molecular-electronics

Exclusive W + photon production in proton-antiproton collisions I: general formalism
We present a detailed computation of the fully exclusive cross section of p +
antip --> W + photon + X with X = 0 and 1 jet in the framework of the
factorization theorem and dimensional regularization. Order alpha-strong and
photon bremsstrahlung contributions are discussed in the MS-bar mass
factorization scheme. The resulting expressions are ready to be implemented
numerically using Monte Carlo techniques to compute single and double
differential cross sections and correlations between outgoing pairs of

Enabling quantitative data analysis through e-infrastructures
This paper discusses how quantitative data analysis in the social sciences can engage with and exploit an e-Infrastructure. We highlight how a number of activities which are central to quantitative data analysis, referred to as ‘data management’, can benefit from e-infrastructure support. We conclude by discussing how these issues are relevant to the DAMES (Data Management through e-Social Science) research Node, an ongoing project that aims to develop e-Infrastructural resources for quantitative data analysis in the social sciences
Factorization of gravitational Compton scattering amplitude in the linearized version of general relativity
Gravitational Compton scattering process with a massive fermion is studied in
the context of the linearized gravity. Gravitational gauge invariance and
graviton transversality cause the transition amplitude to be factorized into
that of scalar QED Compton scattering and that of fermion QED Compton
scattering with an overall kinematical factor. The factorization is shown
