A coracoid process fracture associated with acromioclavicular joint dislocation
is an unusual lesion in adults. This report adds another case to the literature to reemphasize
the importance of recognizing this unusual lesion. An anteroposterior and axillary lateral radiograph
or CT-scan often is needed for diagnosis of the fracture. Surgical and nonsurgical treatment
appear to ofter equally favorable results
Being a current issue, the use of a standardised external test is, however, as old as educational systems themselves which since their origin have always been related to students´academic performance. Currently, these tests serve as a guidance to elaborate educational laws that are undoubtedly acquiring an authentic pedagogical renewal through which educational institutions attempt to obtain the best results of their students´ performance and, consequently, the general improvement of the educational syste
Effect of mold temperature on the impact behavior and morphology of injection molded foams based on polypropylene polyethylene–octene copolymer blends
Producción CientíficaIn this work, an isotactic polypropylene (PP) and a polyethylene–octene copolymer (POE) have been blended and injection-molded, obtaining solids and foamed samples with a relative density of 0.76. Different mold temperature and injection temperature were used. The Izod impact strength was measured. For solids, higher mold temperature increased the impact resistance, whereas in foams, the opposite trend was observed. In order to understand the reasons of this behavior, the morphology of the elastomeric phase, the crystalline morphology and the cellular structure have been studied. The presence of the elastomer near the skin in the case of high mold temperature can explain the improvement produced with a high mold temperature in solids. For foams, aspects as the elastomer coarsening in the core of the sample or the presence of a thicker solid skin are the critical parameters that justify the improved behavior of the materials produced with a lower mold temperature.Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (grant DI-15-07952

Representative datasets for neural networks
Neural networks present big popularity and success in many fields. The large training
time process problem is a very important task nowadays. In this paper, a new
approach to get over this issue based on reducing dataset size is proposed. Two
algorithms covering two different shape notions are shown and experimental results
are given.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad MTM2015-67072-
Towards a Philological Metric through a Topological Data Analysis Approach
The canon of the baroque Spanish literature has been thoroughly studied with philological techniques.
The major representatives of the poetry of this epoch are Francisco de Quevedo and Luis de Góngora
y Argote. They are commonly classified by the literary experts in two different streams: Quevedo
belongs to the Conceptismo and Góngora to the Culteranismo. Besides, traditionally, even if Quevedo
is considered the most representative of the Conceptismo, Lope de Vega is also considered to be, at
least, closely related to this literary trend. In this paper, we use Topological Data Analysis techniques
to provide a first approach to a metric distance between the literary style of these poets. As a
consequence, we reach results that are under the literary experts’ criteria, locating the literary style of
Lope de Vega, closer to the one of Quevedo than to the one of Góngora
Torque distribution strategy for a four In-wheel fully electric car
Jornadas de Automática, 2 - 4 de septiembre de 2015. BilbaoElectromobility promises to have a strong impact
in several aspects of our life: introducing new
means of transport concepts, proposing new business models and allowing to create new vehicle
configurations impossible with traditional combustion engines. Regarding the latter, this paper
presents a novel torque distribution strategy for a
4 in-wheel electric vehicle which aims to reduce the
total longitudinal slip. The control strategy is designed off-line supported by a simulator and tested
both in simulation (with a different model from the
used for designing) as well as on a real sized prototype. The results show that the total longitudinal
slip is successfully reduced after applying the control strategy and additionally, the radius described
by the vehicle while cornering is slightly closer to
the theoretical Ackerman radius.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad DPI2013-46912-C2-
Representative Datasets: The Perceptron Case
One of the main drawbacks of the practical use of neural networks is the long time needed in
the training process. Such training process consists in an iterative change of parameters trying to
minimize a loss function. These changes are driven by a dataset, which can be seen as a set of
labeled points in an n-dimensional space. In this paper, we explore the concept of representative
dataset which is smaller than the original dataset and satisfies a nearness condition independent of
isometric transformations. The representativeness is measured using persistence diagrams due to its
computational efficiency. We also prove that the accuracy of the learning process of a neural network
on a representative dataset is comparable with the accuracy on the original dataset when the neural
network architecture is a perceptron and the loss function is the mean squared error. These theoretical
results accompanied with experimentation open a door to the size reduction of the dataset in order to
gain time in the training process of any neural network
Topology-based representative datasets to reduce neural network training resources
