Association of Jets with the Signal Vertex

    Get PDF
A method for the association of jets with the signal vertex is presented. The technique is shown to reduce the instrumental background rate from jets and overlapping particles originating from additional minimum bias vertices. As a benchmark, the performance of the algorithm is evaluated using the qq->qqH search channel where the vertex assignment parameters are optimized for separating qqH and ttbar events. The efficiency of a central jet veto is shown to increase for the same level of background rejection. The whole study is conducted on Monte Carlo generated events that were passed through the CMS full detector-level simulation in low luminosity conditions (L = 2x10^33 cm^-2 s^-1). It is shown that the method should give similar results also for high luminosity conditions (L = 10^34 cm^-2 s^-1)

In the modern science of civil law, the role of comparative legal analysis of the principles of various states is undeniable. The main task of comparative legal research is to obtain profound knowledge about the principles of civil and family law of different legal systems. In this work the basic comparison of principles will be carried out according to the civil legislation of two countries: Slovakia and Russia, because both of these countries are former members of the socialist bloc and have much in common, but Slovak legislation is known for its unique combination of respect for the established traditions of Slovak law and following the guideline of the legal doctrines of the European Union. The authors considered such principles as: equality of the legal regime for all subjects of civil legal relations; individual autonomy (or the principle of freedom of contract); prohibition of abuse of subjective rights; justice and the principle of stability of private law. For the most complete disclosure and analysis of the interaction, the following issues were raised: the essence of the principles, their possible relationship with other foundations of civil law, the role of judicial practice and the opinion of legislators regarding the application and interpretation of these principles. As a result of the analysis, the authors concluded that the guiding foundations of the civil law of the above-mentioned countries coincide, or have their own “analogues” in the legislation of another country. Also, the system of principles of the civil law of the Slovak Republic contains such principles that are only fragmentarily disclosed as principles in the civil legislation of the Russian Federation. The authors also noted that the judicial practice of using the principles has a certain influence on the application and interpretation of both the principles of Slovakia and Russia. The result of this comparative legal study may be useful for the theory of civil law, and also demonstrates the interaction of the civilistic principles of Slovakia and Russia.

Developed models and computer methods cover the stages of synthesis, kinematic, quasi-static and dynamic calculations, prediction and monitoring the dependability of planetary transmissions. Method for constructing no isomorphic structures using canonical matrixes was developed, as well as a modular analytical method for obtaining a family of gearboxes based on a unified reliable core module. Under kinematic and quasi-static calculations, the transmission is represented by a kinematic diagram formed in an automated mode. Its equations are made by means of a structure-distributive matrix. The concept of a regular mechanical system provides a correct dynamic calculation of the transmission as a multibody system with variable states. In calculating transmission dependability, the principle of dependent behaviour of components in a loaded mechanical system is used. Variation in operation conditions is taken into account. The complex logic of limiting states is reproduced in a hierarchical system: constructional elements, parts, units, transmission. Monitoring the transmission dependability in operation is based on diagnostic models that link the vibration level and the degree of components damages. Diagnostic system analyses the vibroimpulses produced by gears. Some presented methods are used in state standards and at enterprises of Belarus.

Oxidation of newly synthesized acridine derivatives was studied using cyclic voltammetry at glassy carbon electrode. Oxidation occurs as irreversible, diffusion-controlled process at pH 4.6 for compounds 1-3 and as adsorption controlled process for compound 4. The interaction between newly synthesized acridine compounds (compounds 1-4) and dsDNA was studied using a multilayer dsDNA biosensor applying square wave voltammetry. Peak current corresponding to deoxyadenosine decreased after 30 minutes of interaction suggesting interaction with dsDNA.15th International Conference on Fundamental and Applied Aspects of Physical Chemistry, September 20-24, 2021. Can Zeolite-Supporting Acridines Boost Their Anticancer Performance?

    Get PDF
Acridine and its derivatives (9-chloroacridine and 9-aminoacridine) are investigated here, supported on FAU type zeolite Y, as a delivery system of anticancer agents. FTIR/Raman spectroscopy and electron microscopy revealed successful drug loading on the zeolite surface, while spectrofluorimetry was employed for drug quantification. The effects of the tested compounds on cell viability were evaluated using in vitro methylthiazol-tetrazolium (MTT) colorimetric technique against human colorectal carcinoma (cell line HCT-116) and MRC-5 fibroblasts. Zeolite structure remained unchanged during homogeneous drug impregnation with achieved drug loadings in the 18–21 mg/g range. The highest drug release, in the µM concentration range, with favourable kinetics was established for zeolite-supported 9-aminoacridine. The acridine delivery via zeolite carrier is viewed in terms of solvation energy and zeolite adsorption sites. The cytotoxic effect of supported acridines on HCT-116 cells reveals that the zeolite carrier improves toxicity, while the highest efficiency is displayed by zeolite-impregnated 9-aminoacridine. The 9-aminoacridine delivery via zeolite carrier favours healthy tissue preservation while accompanying increased toxicity toward cancer cells. Cytotoxicity results are well correlated with theoretical modelling and release study, providing promising results for applicative purposes

THE INFLUENCE OF CHANGING CLIMATE AND GEOCRYOLOGICAL CONDITIONS ON THE REGIME OF REGIONAL DISCHARGE AND ICING IN THE UPPER PART OF LENA RIVER’S BASIN

Using the balance method authors showed for the case of 1990 that the reaction of the river discharge on the climate change is different in the regions with continuous and sporadic permafrost extent. In mountain with continuous permafrost extent the climate warming has no strong influence on the river discharge but affects on the ice-mounds’ volume. In case of sporadic permafrost extent the decreasing of permafrost area to 30% leads to decreasing of snow-melting overflow up to 38%. Also the period of the flood became longer because the underground storage increasing that takes away the precipitation, snow-melting and condensation water from surface discharge

Cosmological solutions in multidimensional model with multiple exponential potential

A family of cosmological solutions with (n+1)(n+1) Ricci-flat spaces in the theory with several scalar fields and multiple exponential potential is obtained when coupling vectors in exponents obey certain relations. Two subclasses of solutions with power-law and exponential behaviour of scale factors are singled out. It is proved that power-law solutions may take place only when coupling vectors are linearly independent and exponential dependence occurs for linearly dependent set of coupling vectors. A subfamily of solutions with accelerated expansion is singled out. A generalized isotropization behaviours of certain classes of general solutions are found. In quantum case exact solutions to Wheeler-DeWitt equation are obtained and special "ground state" wave functions are considered.Comment: 22 pages, 1 figur

Systems of Hess-Appel'rot Type and Zhukovskii Property

We start with a review of a class of systems with invariant relations, so called {\it systems of Hess--Appel'rot type} that generalizes the classical Hess--Appel'rot rigid body case. The systems of Hess-Appel'rot type carry an interesting combination of both integrable and non-integrable properties. Further, following integrable line, we study partial reductions and systems having what we call the {\it Zhukovskii property}: these are Hamiltonian systems with invariant relations, such that partially reduced systems are completely integrable. We prove that the Zhukovskii property is a quite general characteristic of systems of Hess-Appel'rote type. The partial reduction neglects the most interesting and challenging part of the dynamics of the systems of Hess-Appel'rot type - the non-integrable part, some analysis of which may be seen as a reconstruction problem. We show that an integrable system, the magnetic pendulum on the oriented Grassmannian Gr+(4,2)Gr^+(4,2) has natural interpretation within Zhukovskii property and it is equivalent to a partial reduction of certain system of Hess-Appel'rot type. We perform a classical and an algebro-geometric integration of the system, as an example of an isoholomorphic system. The paper presents a lot of examples of systems of Hess-Appel'rot type, giving an additional argument in favor of further study of this class of systems.Comment: 42 page
