with barley, in the alimentation of cows destined for production
of milk, employing the méthod of > describe on former works notices
on tne bibliographie.
lt has been found out, that the substitute is possible, as the production of
milk or its fat have not remarkables varies, when animals consume the different
rations.
Statistical treatment shows us lack of significance between both diets, and
therefore, the 20% substitution of the concentrated mixture that in form of barley
the animals swallowed as flavour of «Higo Chumbo» (<< Opunctia ficus-indica» )
in the alimentation of cows is possible.
We have observed an increment of the appetite in the ration that contained
the mentioned flavour, the same that happened in the alimentation of pig, and
that proves the high degree of palatabilite of this aliment.Cátedra de Fisiología Animal (Prof. Dr. G. Varela
Enhancement of vortex liquid phase and reentrant behavior in NiBi_(3) single crystals
We investigate the vortex phase diagram of needle shaped high quality NiBi3 single crystals by transport measurements. The current is applied along the crystalline b-axis of this intermetallic quasi-1D BCS superconductor. The single crystals show a Ginzburg-Levanyuk (G (i)) parameter of about 10(-7), larger by two orders of magnitude than G _(i) in elemental low T_(c) BCS superconductors. Vortex phase diagram, critical currents and pinning forces have been extracted from the experimental data. We observe (i) an enhancement of the vortex liquid phase, (ii) a reentrance of the liquid phase at low fields and (iii) an unusual magnetic field dependence of the pinning force. We suggest that these phenomena result from the interplay between pinning due to quenched disorder and the quasi-1D character of the material which could lead, for instance, to more complex pinning mechanisms at play

New source of resistance to mosaic virus transmission by Aphis gossypii in melon
The melon accession ‘TGR-1551’ shows a clear and total resistance to the transmission of several isolates of
CMV and ZYMV when A. gossypii is used as vector. The genetic analysis of the progenies obtained crossing
this accession with the susceptible Spanish cultivar ‘Bola de Oro’ showed that the resistance to mosaic virus
transmission is conferred by the presence of a dominant gene. There are also evidences that this dominant gene is
different from ‘Vat’ gene. This research was partially financed by the P.R.O.F.I.T.-

Financial management differences between family and non-family Mexican tourist firms
Adicionalmente, se pudo corroborar mediante el análisis multivariante que las empresas familiares son más antiguas que las no [email protected]@[email protected] aim of this study is to analyze the financial management among the micro, small and medium (MSMEs) family and non-family Mexican tourist firms. Some variables like financing, debt, profit, growth, accounting and financial information have been considered. A survey on a sample of 122 tourist MSMEs from Quintana Roo state (México) was used. It was composed by 72 families and 50 non-families firms. The results show that the family firms obtain higher profitability and use to a lesser extent accounting and financial information than the non-family firms. Additionally, it has been corroborated through multivariate analysis that the family firms have been running business longer than the non-family firms
Inheritance of Type I Glandular Trichomes in Cucumis melo L.
Glandular trichomes Type I (Picture 1 and 2), firstly described in Cucumis melo by Gómez-Guillamón et al. (2006), are involved in the early rejection of melon plants as hosts by Aphis gossypii Glover, and, in high density, they could be considered as an additional factor to the aphid resistance conferred by Vat gene (Sarria et al., 2007). The knowledge of the inheritance mode of their density would enhance their utilization in melon breedingThis work has been financed by the CICYT Research Project: AGL2005-03850-C02-01Peer reviewe
Hypersensitive response to Aphis gossypii Glover in melon genotypes carrying the Vat gene
Aphis gossypii Glover causes direct and indirect damage to Cucumis melo L. crops. To decrease the harmful effects of this pest, one of the most economically and environmentally acceptable options is to use genetically resistant melon varieties. To date, several sources of resistance carrying the Vat gene are used in melon breeding programmes that aim to prevent A. gossypii colonization and the subsequent aphid virus transmission. The results suggest that the resistance conferred by this gene is associated with a microscopic hypersensitive response specific against A. gossypii.CICYT Spanish National Research Project:
