Generalization of the coupled dipole method to periodic structures
We present a generalization of the coupled dipole method to the scattering of
light by arbitrary periodic structures. This new formulation of the coupled
dipole method relies on the same direct-space discretization scheme that is
widely used to study the scattering of light by finite objects. Therefore, all
the knowledge acquired previously for finite systems can be transposed to the

The ESO UVES Advanced Data Products Quasar Sample - VI. Sub-Damped Lyman- Metallicity Measurements and the Circum-Galactic Medium
The Circum-Galactic Medium (CGM) can be probed through the analysis of
absorbing systems in the line-of-sight to bright background quasars. We present
measurements of the metallicity of a new sample of 15 sub-damped Lyman-
absorbers (sub-DLAs, defined as absorbers with 19.0 < log N(H I) < 20.3) with
redshift 0.584 < < 3.104 from the ESO Ultra-Violet Echelle
Spectrograph (UVES) Advanced Data Products Quasar Sample (EUADP). We combine
these results with other measurements from the literature to produce a
compilation of metallicity measurements for 92 sub-DLAs as well as a sample of
362 DLAs. We apply a multi-element analysis to quantify the amount of dust in
these two classes of systems. We find that either the element depletion
patterns in these systems differ from the Galactic depletion patterns or they
have a different nucleosynthetic history than our own Galaxy. We propose a new
method to derive the velocity width of absorption profiles, using the modeled
Voigt profile features. The correlation between the velocity width delta_V90 of
the absorption profile and the metallicity is found to be tighter for DLAs than
for sub-DLAs. We report hints of a bimodal distribution in the [Fe/H]
metallicity of low redshift (z < 1.25) sub-DLAs, which is unseen at higher
redshifts. This feature can be interpreted as a signature from the metal-poor,
accreting gas and the metal-rich, outflowing gas, both being traced by sub-DLAs

Data acquisition and analysis for the CODALEMA experiment, in operation for
more than one year, has provided improved knowledge of the characteristics of
this new device. At the same time, an important effort has been made to develop
processing techniques for extracting transient signals from data containing

CO-dark molecular gas at high redshift: very large H content and high pressure in a low metallicity damped Lyman-alpha system
We present a detailed analysis of a H-rich, extremely strong intervening
Damped Ly- Absorption system (DLA) at towards the
quasar J0843+0221, observed with the Ultraviolet and Visual Echelle
Spectrograph on the Very Large Telescope. The total column density of molecular
(resp. atomic) hydrogen is (H)= (resp. (HI)=), making it to be the first case in quasar absorption
lines studies with H column density as high as what is seen in
CO-selected clouds in the Milky-Way.
We find that this system has one of the lowest metallicity detected among
H-bearing DLAs, with . This can be the
reason for the marked differences compared to systems with similar H column
densities in the local Universe: the kinetic temperature, 120~K,
derived from the H rotational levels is at least twice higher than
expected; there is little dust extinction with A; no
CO molecules are detected, putting a constraint on the factor
cm/(km/s\,K), in the very low metallicity
gas. Low CO and high H contents indicate that this system represents
"CO-dark/faint" gas.
We investigate the physical conditions in the H-bearing gas using the
fine-structure levels of CI, CII, SiII and the rotational levels of
HD and H. We find the number density to be about cm, implying a high thermal pressure of cmK. We further identify a trend of increasing pressure with
increasing total hydrogen column density. This independently supports the
suggestion that extremely strong DLAs (with N(H) ) probe

Radiodetection of Cosmic Ray Extensive Air Showers
We present the characteristics and performance of a demonstration experiment
devoted to the observation of ultra high- energy cosmic ray extensive air
showers using a radiodetection technique. In a first step, one antenna narrowed
band filtered acting as trigger, with a 4 threshold above sky
background-level, was used to tag any radio transient in coincidence on the
antenna array. Recently, the addition of 4 particle detectors has allowed us to
observe cosmic ray events in coincidence with antennas
Sapi Perah (Satu Pion Penjelajah Sejarah) sebagai Media Pembelajaran IPS Sejarah Hindu Budha untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa Kelas IV Sdn Samirono YOGYAKARTA
This research aims to (1) to find out the application of Sapi Perah learningmedia to the grade IV SDN Samirono, (2) to find out the process of learning history ofHinduism and Buddhism through the use of Sapi Perah learning media, and (3) toreveal the improvement of the understanding and learning ability of grade IV studentsof Samirono Elementary School. The method used is classroom action researchinvolving two cycles. In the first cycle, the students were given a description of thehistory of Hinduism and Buddhism. Then, they were given a pre test on the materialthat has been taught and tried to apply the Sapi Perah learning media. However, theresults were not satisfying because they were not enthusiastic in learning. The secondcycle was conducted by applying the learning media of Sapi Perah again. In the secondcycle optimal results were obtained. The students' learning outcomes of the history ofHinduism and Buddhism improved. The results of this research are (1) the applicationof a learning media Sapi Perah can improve the students' understanding of the historyof Hinduism and Buddhism and (2) the learning process in the classroom becomesmore interesting because of the use of the media of Sapi Perah

Many Indonesian people built a traditional house based on beliefs of their ancestors for generations, without knowing the scientific reason. Meanwhile, indirectly, ancestors already thinking about housing that adapts the environmental conditions such as in Nias Island. Nias is an island that has two different forms of traditional houses which are affected by the differences geographic, highland and lowland. Geographic factors and beliefs not only affect the shape of the house but also the structure of the house. Located on the earthquake fault lines, Nias traditional houses was designed to withstand earthquakes that often befall. A study using description and analysis methods about design and structure which used in traditional houses in Nias Island, would develop a good sense of the idea to apply these materials on modern building to preserve the culture of Indonesia
