Einige Überlegungen zur Einwanderung von Bromus erectus HUDS. in Süd-Niedersachsen

The study aims at contributing to the discussion in which way Bromus erectus invaded into southernmost Lower Saxony throughout the 20th century. Basing on the data of distribution, and on the evaluation of the ratio “cover of Bromus erectus/cover of Brachypodium pinnatum” in numerous phytosociological publications, it should be considered that the path of invasion did not lead straightly from S to N. The direction along the Eastern and Northern surrounding of the Harz mountains, and from here southwards through the Leine valley seems more likely. This invasion was mainly released by the strong reduction of grazing by sheep and goats. On the other hand this change in land use favours the growth of shrub vegetation and, thus, reduces the area accessible to Bromus erectus

Beobachtungen über die Vegetation einer Versuchsfarm in Südägypten

Im Süden Ägyptens, in einem absolut vegetationsfreien Gebiet, hat die General Petroleum Company im Jahre 1982 eine bewässerte Versuchsfarm errichtet. Das Wachstum zahlreicher Kulturpflanzen wird hier geprüft; eine ganze Reihe von Unkräutern hat sich inzwischen angesiedelt. Zwei Pflanzengesellschaften können bisher unterschieden werden: Eine Melilotus indicus - Lolium rigidum-Ges. der beetartigen Felder und eine Scirpus tuberosus-Ges. der rinnenartigen Pflanzungen junger Gehölze. Zwischen den Gebäuden dominiert Cynodon dactylon.In Southern Egypt, in an area completely void of vegetation, an experimental irrigation farm was established by the General Petroleum Company in 1982. Numerous crop species are tested here, and a variety of weeds have appeared also. Two plant communities can be discerned: a Melilotus indicus-Lolium rigidum-community in the small fields, and a Scirpus tuberosus-community among the rows of young woody plants. Vegetationskundliche Untersuchungen im Gebiet des Spieser bei Unterjoch (Allgäu)

Untersucht werden die Pflanzengesellschaften eines kleinen Gebietes in den Allgäuer Voralpen, das nur extensiv genutzt wird und floristisch reich ist. Durch 90 Vegetationsaufnahmen werden 16 Assoziationen belegt, wobei der Schwerpunkt bei Wäldern und Rasen liegt. Feucht- und Felsstandorte werden weggelassen. Die untersuchten Gesellschaften werden in einer Vegetationskarte dargestellt, und es werden ihre mittleren Zeigerwerte nach Ellenberg berechnet und diskutiert.In a small prealpine area of the Allgäu district (SW-Bavaria) plant communities were investigated. This area, only scarcely utilized, is rich in species. On the basis of 90 releves, 16 associations, mostly forests and grasslands, were described. Wet biota and rocky communities were omitted.
