Assessment of notched Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tubular beams using the Theory of Critical Distances and Finite Element analysis

ABSTRACT:This paper combines the Theory of Critical Distances (TCD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to provide estimations of fracture loads in Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tubular beams containing notch-type defects. The methodology is, however, theoretically applicable to any kind of material and component developing a predominant linear-elastic behavior. FEA is used to determine the stress field at the notch tip, which is then combined with one of the TCD failure criteria (the Point Method, PM) to derive the corresponding critical load. La Responsabilidad Social Universitaria: caso Universidad Siglo 21

En el presente trabajo se aborda el interrogante sobre la adopción de Estándares GRI en los reportes integrados e Informes de Sostenibilidad. Dentro del concepto de Responsabilidad Social, existe una línea específica donde se aborda la Responsabilidad Social para las instituciones universitarias, entendiendo a las mismas como partes de organizaciones permeables que interactúan con la sociedad. En esta necesidad de dar cuenta a la sociedad de las externalidades generadas se plantea la posibilidad de realizar Informes de Sostenibilidad. La mayoría de las Universidades Argentinas han adherido a los principios del Pacto Global, sin embargo, dentro de la disciplina se evalúa, cómo diversos autores trabajan el tema de la adopción de los Estándares GRI bajo la posibilidad de que éstos reflejen las acciones de los Informes de Sostenibilidad de las Universidades, lo cual plantea varios interrogantes sobre la sustancia de algunos objetivos en cuanto a los actores tan particulares que articulan con las Universidades. En el trabajo se ha realizado un recorrido integral del reporte del caso de estudio Universidad Siglo 21 -U21- con el fin de poder encontrar fortalezas y debilidades dentro del mismo en su forma de llevar adelante este informe bajo los Estándares GRI. Si bien se nota un claro compromiso por parte de los organismos de adoptar los Estándares GRI, se encuentra específicamente una dificultad en poder identificar claramente los stakeholders por la manera en la cual la sociedad y los actores específicos se relacionan con las Universidades.Instituto de Investigaciones y Estudios Contable

Master curve evaluation of ANP-5 steel using mini-CT specimens

The nuclear industry demands analyses that make possible the long-term operation of nuclear power plants (i.e., beyond 40 years). In this sense, one of the main challenges to overcome is the restricted amount of material available to extend the surveillance programs. To mitigate this issue, mini-CT specimens have been proposed for the evaluation of the fracture properties of reactor pressure vessel (RPV) materials, and particularly, the corresponding Master Curve. These specimens can be taken from the broken halves of previously tested Charpy specimens. In this work, mini-CT specimens have been employed to evaluate the reference temperature of the RPV ANP-5 steel in non-irradiated conditions. The results were compared with those obtained by means of conventional fracture tests.This project has received funding from the Euratom research and training programme 2020-2024, under grant agreement No. 900014. FRACture mechanics TEsting of irradiated RPV steels by means of SUb-sized Specimens: FRACTESUS PROJECT

This work presents the overall structure of the FRACTESUS project and the progress carried out so far. The project is part of the EURATOM work programme 2019-2020, topic NFRP-04: Innovation for Generation II and III reactors. The project developments will contribute to the long-term safe operation of nuclear power plants, addressing the goals of the European Union in terms of sustainable and green energy, where the decarbonisation of the energy system is a priority. FRACTESUS intends to demonstrate the reliability of measuring the fracture toughness of reactor pressure vessel steels by means of sub-sized specimens (e.g., 0.16 CT or mini CT specimens). Coupling Finite Element Analysis and the Theory of Critical Distances to Estimate Critical Loads in Al6060-T66 Tubular Beams Containing Notches

ABSTRACT: This paper validates a methodology for the estimation of critical loads in tubular beams containing notch-type defects. The methodology is particularized for the case of Al6060-T66 tubular cantilever beams containing U-shaped notches. It consists in obtaining the stress field at the notch tip using finite element analysis (FEA) and the subsequent application of the theory of critical distances (TCD) to derive the corresponding critical load (or load-bearing capacity). Una nueva especie del grupo Liolaemus elongatus (Iguania: Liolaemidae) de la provincia de Neuquén, Argentina, con comentarios sobre su morfología genital

The Liolaemus elongatus group is a group of lizards that ranges from northwestern Argentina to the southern Patagonian steppe. In this study, we describe a new species of the L. elongatus group. The new taxon is distributed in the vicinity of L. burmeisteri, L. crandalli, L. gununakuna, L. punmahuida and L. tregenzai, and posseses a combination of unique character states and morphological characters that allows its formal description as a new species. The morphological evidence provides strong support that the population under study corresponds to a new taxon. With the description of the new species, the number of members of the L. elongatus group rises to twenty-two, but many populations likely represent undescribed species.El grupo de Liolaemus elongatus es un grupo de lagartijas que se distribuye desde el noroeste de Argentina al sur de las estepas patagónicas. En el presente estudio, describimos una nueva especie perteneciente al grupo de L. elongatus. El nuevo taxón se distribuye en cercanías de L. burmeisteri, L. crandalli, L. gununakuna, L. punmahuida y L. tregenzai, y la combinación de caracteres morfológicos en lepidosis y morfométricos permite describirla como nueva especie. La evidencia morfológica aporta un fuerte soporte que la población estudiada corresponde a un nuevo Liolaemus. Con la descripción de este nuevo taxón el número de especies del grupo de L. elongatus asciende a veintidós, aunque hay varias poblaciones que corresponden a especies no descritas.Asociación Herpetológica Argentin

Sistema de acciones orientadoras para prevenir la violencia escolar en los estudiantes de bachillerato

La prevención de la violencia escolar constituye un tema relevante, en el orden educativo y social, dado por la necesidad de contar con ambientes de formación cada vez más seguros y desarrolladores, capaces de fomentar la civilidad y la armonía, como recursos para enfrentar con prosocialidad las problemáticas que surgen en las relaciones con los demás, significando el lugar que corresponde a la orientación educativa en la prevención de la violencia. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo el análisis de acciones orientadoras, para prevenir la violencia escolar en los estudiantes de bachillerato, en el contexto ecuatoriano, partiendo de un diagnóstico realizado con una muestra de 230 estudiantes y 20 docentes de Bachillerato, empleando como técnicas la Entrevista a márgenes: profundidad, el Grupo de discusión y el Cuestionario sobre intimidación y maltrato entre iguales de entre iguales, de Mora-Merchán y Mora (1995). Los resultados del diagnóstico realizado permitieron constar la existencia de violencia escolar en la institución educativa posibilitando la delimitación de los principales ejes de trabajo en la práctica pedagógica de cada jornada escolar y extraescolar para propiciar las transformaciones necesarias.PALABRAS CLAVE: violencia; orientación educativa; prevención de la violencia.System of guiding actions to prevent school violence in high school studentsABSTRACTThe prevention of school violence is a relevant issue, in the educational and social order, given by the need to have increasingly safe training environments and developers, capable of promoting civility and harmony, as resources to face with prosociality the problems that arise in relationships with others, signifying the place that corresponds to educational guidance in the prevention of violence. The present work aims to analyze guiding actions, to prevent school violence in high school students, in the Ecuadorian context, based on a diagnosis made with a sample of 230 students and 20 high school teachers, using as techniques the In-depth interview. The Discussion Group and the Questionnaire on intimidation and mistreatment between equals of equals, by Mora-Merchán and Mora (1995). The results of the diagnosis made allowed the existence of school violence in the educational institution to be confirmed, enabling the delimitation of the main lines of work in the pedagogical practice of each school and extracurricular day to promote the necessary transformations.KEYWORDS: violence; educational orientation; violence prevention

Translating fork specifications into logic programs

In this work a compiler from fork specifications into logic programs is presented. The technique implemented by the compiler consists of transforming a set of fork equations (with some restrictions) into normal logic programs in such a way that the semantics of the fork equations is preserved. After translating a fork specification, it can be executed by consulting the generated logic program. The fork compiler, a tool for the translation, is also introduced.Facultad de Informátic
